In this paper, the measurement of an aerodynamic sound source for a semi-circular cylinder in a uniform flow is described using Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV). This experimental technique is based on vortex sound theory, where the time derivative of vorticity is evaluated with the aid of two sets of standard PIV systems. The experimental results indicate that the sound source for the semi-circular cylinder is located around the shear layer near the edge of the semi-circular cylinder. The sound source intensity and the area are reduced in the semi-circular cylinder compared with those of a circular cylinder. This result indicates that the aerodynamic sound of the semi- circular cylinder is smaller than that of the circular cylinder, which supports the microphone measurement result.

Modeling of low-frequency seismic waves in a shallow sea using the staggered grid difference method

Elastic waves in the seabed generated by low-frequency noise radiating from ships are known as ship seismic waves and can be used to detect and identify ships. To obtain the propagation characteristics of ship seismic waves, an algorithm for calculating Seismic waves at the seafloor is presented based on the staggered-grid finite difference method. The accuracy of the algorithm was tested by comparison with analytical solutions. Numerical simulation of seismic waves generated by a low-frequency point sotmd source in a typical shallow sea environment was carried out. Using various source frequencies and locations in the numerical simulation, we show that the seismic waves in the near field are composed mostly of transmitted S-waves and interface waves while transmitted P-waves are weak near the seafloor. However, in the far field, the wave components of the seismic wave are mainly normal modes and interface waves, with the latter being relatively strong in the waveforms, As the source frequency decreases, the normal modes become smaller and the interface waves dominate the time series of the seismic waves.

In any closed environment considered,it can be seen that the acoustic parameters are inherently not constant over the entire area *** a closed environment,it is ideally preferred to maintain the acoustic parameters as constant so that there exists better quality of sound leading to better auditory perception with respect to the ***,some of the acoustic parameters like reverberation time and clarity do not strictly pertain to the pattern obtained *** this paper,simulations are carried out using I-SIMPA under different values of sound Transmission Class(STC),source position,distribution and the chamber dimensions and provides an insight into the behaviour of these acoustic parameters and the appropriate values that have to be infused into the system to build the *** acoustic environment is modelled keeping an actual closed room in mind and testing is done with respect to different values of surface absorption coefficients(practically indicated using sound Transmission Class)and dimensions to determine ideal conditions.

A sound from long distance may arrive different sensors at different moment. Existing field Anti-Sniper systems always need 4 or more sound sensors to locate sound source. This paper gave a method to make some assumptions and estimate the orientation of the sound source with fewer sensors. The following simulation gave the calculation contrast, which showed that the method in paper could narrow the scope of sound source target effectively, and promote the practical solution of Anti-Sniper system in battlefield.
