Simulations of solitary waves of RLW equation by exponential B-spline Galerkin method

In this paper, an approximate function for the Galerkin method is composed using the combination of the exponential B-spline functions. Regularized long wave equation （RLW） is integrated fully by using an exponential B-spline Galerkin method in space together with Crank-Nicolson method in time. Three numerical examples related to propagation of sin- gle solitary wave, interaction of two solitary waves and wave generation are employed to illustrate the accuracy and the efficiency of the method. Obtained results are compared with some early studies.

The interaction between structure and wave is a typical phenomenon in naval architecture and ocean *** this paper,numerical simulation is carried out to study the interaction between a two-dimensional submerged,fixed,horizontal rigid plate and solitary wave with our in-house meshless particle CFD solver ***,the in-house CFD solver is verified by experimental results conducted at the State Key Laboratory of Coastal and Offshore Engineering,Dalian University of *** the verification,the plate is submerged under water and the solitary wave with a given amplitude is generated by a piston-type wave *** surface elevation of the wave and the pressure impacting on the plate is recorded and compared with experimental data *** predicted pressure and surface elevation agree well with the experimental *** in order to further investigate factors affecting wave-structure interaction,wave height,submerged depth and plate length are analyzed.

Nucleus-acoustic（NA） solitary waves（SWs） propagating in a self-gravitating degenerate quantum plasma（SDQP）system（containing non-relativistically degenerate heavy and light nuclei,and non-/ultra-relativistically degenerate electrons） have been theoretically *** modified Korteweg–de Vries（m K-d V） equation has been derived for both planar and non-planar geometry by employing the reductive perturbation *** is shown that the NA SWs exist with positive（negative） electrostatic（self-gravitational） *** is also observed that the effects of non-/ultra-relativistically degenerate electron pressure,dynamics of non-relativistically light nuclei,spherical geometry,*** modify the basic features（e.g.,amplitude,width,speed,etc.） of the NA *** applications of our results,which are relevant to astrophysical compact objects,like white dwarfs and neutron stars,are briefly discussed.

solitary waves are often used in laboratory experiments to study tsunamis propagation and interaction with coasts. However, the experimental shape of the waves may differ from the theoretical one. In this paper, a correction technique aiming at minimizing the discrepancies between the two profiles is presented. Laboratory experiments reveal their effectiveness in correcting the experimental shape of solitary waves, mainly for low nonlinearities.

The nonlinear properties of dust acoustic solitary waves in inhomogeneous dusty plasmas with two-ion temperature are investigated. By using the reductive perturbation theory, a modified variable coefficients Korteweg-de Vries （MKdV） equation is derived. The typical integral form of the Sagdeev potential is examined numerically. The numerical results show that the inhomogeneity, the two-ion temperature have strong influence on the nonlinear properties of dust acoustic solitary waves.

Using the perturbation method, the modified variable coefficient Kadomtsev- Petviashvili （MKP） equation governing nonlinear （lust acoustic solitary waves is for the first time derived with the combined effects of adiabatic dust charge fluctuation and higher-order transverse perturbation in inhomogeneous dusty plasmas due to the spatial gradients of dust charge and plasma densities. The MKP equation is reduced to the standard Kadomtsev-Petviashvili （KP） equation. The numerical results show that inhomogeneity has strong influence on the nonlinear properties of dust acoustic solitary waves.

We study the nonlinear solitary wave solution under the transverse perturbations for a system of coupled nonlinear electrical transmission lines. In the continuum limit and suitably scaled coordinates, the voltage on the system is described by a modified Zakharov-Kuznetsov equation. The cut-off frequency of the growth rate for the solitary waves under transverse perturbations has been analytically obtained. It is in agreement with the cases p = 1/2 and p = 1 which have been studied previously.
