Doped with Sb and Te, Mg2Si based compounds were prepared respectively by solid state reaction at 823 K for 8 h. Effects of dopants of Sb and Te on the structure and thermoelectric properties of the compounds were investigated. By calculating the values of the electrical conductivity for Sb-doped sample, the mechanism of electric conduction at 625 K is different. The figure of merit for sample doped with 0.4 wt% Te at500K is 2.4 × 10-3W/mK2,and it reaches 3. 3 ×10-3 W/mK2 at 650K for the sample doped with 0. 5wt% Sb. The values are more than 1.4 times and 2.3 times of the pure Mg2 Si sample.

High-quality neodymium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet(Nd:YAG)transparent ceramic(4.0 mole percent)was fabricated by a solid-state reaction method and vacuum sintering.The microstructure,optical transmittance,spectral properties and laser performance were investigated.The average grain size of the sample is about 10 mm.The transmittance of a 2.8-mm thick sample reaches 79.5%at the laser wavelength of 1064 nm.The highest absorption peak is centered at 807 nm and the absorption coefficient is 13.9 cm^(-1).The absorption coefficient at the laser wavelength is 0.2 cm^(-1).The main emission peak is at 1064 nm and the fluorescence lifetime is 102 ms.A laser diode(808 nm)whose maximum output is about 1000 mW was used as a pump source and an endpumped laser experiment was performed.The 1064 nm-CW-laser output was obtained and the threshold is 733 mW.With 998 mW of maximum absorbed pump power,a laser output of 17 mW is obtained with a slope efficiency of 6.1%.

In this paper, a novel solid state Michael-type addition reaction of N-heterocyclic compounds containing the active-CH group was investigated. 3-Methyl-1-phenyl-5-pyrazolone (MPP) and indole (In) reacted with 4-arylmethylene-3-methyl-1-phenyl-5-pyrazolone (1) in the solid state at room temperature to give the corresponding adducts, aryl-4,4'-bis(5-hydroxy-3-methyl-1-phenyl-pyrazolyl) methane (2a-n) and 1-aryl-1-(5'-hydroxy-3'-methyl-1'-phenyl-4'-pyrazolyl)-1-(3 ''-indolyl) methane (3a-n), respectively. This is a feasible method for preparing the compound which contains two heterocyclic groups on the same carbon.

The crystal structure of a solid electrolyte, beta-A12O3, was investigated by XRD analysis and demonstrated by Diamond software. Its chemical formula was verified by the Ag ion molten salt exchange method and X-ray fluorescence analysis （XRF）. The chemical formula of β- A12O3 is Na2O·8.52A12O3, and its crystal is of hexagonal, space group P63/mmc, with a = 5.5941 A and c = 22.5300 A. The chemical formula of β-Al20 is Na2O·6.03A12O3, and its crystal is of trigonal, space group R3m, with a = 5.6017 A and c = 33.6219 A. The maximum span in the sodion migration of β-phase （2.4283 A） is only about a third of that for the β-phase （6.9037 A）, so the β-phase has higher ionic conductivity than the r-phase.

Forsterite is a highly demanded material in high-temperature industries due to its superior performance in elevated temperatures.This study proposes synthesizing high-quality forsterite via high-temperature thermochemical reactions using abundant boron mud waste.The new synthesis method capitalizes on the high reactivity of fine raw powder materials,enabling the reaction to reach completion at low temperatures rapidly.The chemical characteristics,microscopic morphology,and structure of synthe-sized samples are systematically studied using XRD and SEM.The results confirm that boron mud can be efficiently transformed into forsterite after 10 min of reactions at 1500℃.The synthesized products attain over 98.7%densification and contain more than 85.0%forsterite with well-developed grains.The activation energy of forsterite grain growth in the 1100-1500℃temperature range is 165.5 kJ/mol.This study provides a low-cost method for producing forsterite and an efficient and environmentally friendly solution for treating solid waste.

Different precursors were prepared via a simple low heat solid state reaction（LHSSR） upon changing the ligands. The ZnO photoanode films were obtained by the doctor blade technique, and their composition, thermal decomposition process and morphologies were identified by means of X-ray diffraction（XRD）, thermal gravimetric analysis-differential thermal analysis（TGA-SDTA） and scanning electron microscope（SEM）. The results show that the morphologies of ZnO photoanodes are irregular block, regular lamellar and irregular sheet-cluster, and the multistage structure can be found in all the photoanodes. Furthermore, there exists a genetic effect of morphology between the precursors and the corresponding photoanodes. The optimum power conversion efficiency of the sheet-cluster ZnO photoanode was 3.12% with the short circuit current density（dsc） being 11.23 mA/cm2. The multistage sheet-cluster structure could result in the increase of the scattering of the incident light and provide a rapid electronic transmission channel to reduce the risk of electronic recombination. A beneficial enlightenment was obtained to simplify the process and the photoanode films with various morphologies can be prepared with lower price in the further research.

Mesoporous chromium aluminophosphate （CrAIPO） was successfully synthesized via solid state reaction （SSR） route at low temperature in the presence of a cationic surfactant cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide （CTAB） and inorganic sources such as A1C13 · 6H20, CrCI3 · 6H20 and NaH2PO4 · 2H20. Characterizations by means of powder X-ray diffraction （XRD）, N2 adsorption- desorption, high resolution transmission electron microscopy （HR-TEM）, scanning electron micrography （SEM）, energy dispersion spectroscopy （EDS）, thermo-gravimetry （TG）, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy （FT-IR）, and ultraviolet visible light spectroscopy （UV-Vis） were carried out to understand both the pore characteristics and electron transition route of these obtained materials. The experimental results show that the meso-CrA1PO materials with various Cr/A1 molar ratios possess a mesostructure and a specific surface area of 193 to 310 m2/g corresponding to an average pore size of 5.5 to 2.2 rim, respectively. The maxium content of Cr in meso-CrA1PO materials synthesized via SSR route can achieve 16.7wt%, being significantly higher than that of the meso-CrA1PO prepared via a conventional sol-gel route. Meanwhile, the formation mechanism of the meso-CrA1PO was also proposed.

In this investigation, visible photocatalytic dye decomposition is carried out with compound semiconductor nanoparticles of zinc orthotitanate(Zn2TiO4). These nanoparticles were grown by the solid state reaction method and characterized by field emission scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, Xray diffraction,diffuse reflectance spectroscopy,photoluminescence study, and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller(BET)study. The BET surface area of the Zn2TiO4nanoparticles was found to be 8.78 m2/g. The photocatalytic activity is carried out by using a 500 W halogen light source having a spectrum in the range of 450 to 860 nm and the reaction kinetics was found to be the pseudo first order. The reaction rate constant was found to be 0.069 min-1. Discussion is given on the possible mechanism of the observed visible photocatalytic dye decomposition activity. The cost of the material used is very low, so it could be very useful for visible photocatalytic dye decomposition.
