software quality assessment model: a systematic mapping study

quality model is regarded as a well-accepted approach for assessing, managing and improving software product quality. There are three categories of quality models for software products, i.e., definition model, assessment model, and prediction model. quality assessment model(QAM) is a metric-based approach to assess the software quality. It is typically regarded as of high importance for its clear method on how to assess a system. However, the current state-of-the-art in QAM research is under limited *** address this gap, the paper provides an organized and synthesized summary of the current QAMs. In detail, we conduct a systematic mapping study(SMS) for structuring the relevant articles. We obtain a total of 716 papers from the five databases, and 31 papers are selected as relevant studies at last. In summary, our work focuses on QAMs from the following aspects: software metrics, quality factors, aggregation methods,evaluation methods and tool support. According to the analysis results, our work discovers five needs that researchers in this area should continue to address:(1) new method and criteria to tailor a quality framework(i.e., structure of software metrics and quality factors) according to different specifics,(2) systematic investigations on the effectiveness, strength and weakness of different aggregation methods to guide the method selection in different context,(3) more investigations on evaluating QAMs in the context of industrial cases,(4) further investigations or real-world case studies on the QAMs related tools, and(5) building a public and diverse software benchmark which can be adopted in different application context.

software reliability is the primary concern of software developmentorganizations, and the exponentially increasing demand for reliable softwarerequires modeling techniques to be developed in the present era. Small unnoticeable drifts in the software can culminate into a disaster. Early removal of theseerrors helps the organization improve and enhance the software’s reliability andsave money, time, and effort. Many soft computing techniques are available toget solutions for critical problems but selecting the appropriate technique is abig challenge. This paper proposed an efficient algorithm that can be used forthe prediction of software reliability. The proposed algorithm is implementedusing a hybrid approach named Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System and has also beenapplied to test data. In this work, a comparison among different techniques of softcomputing has been performed. After testing and training the real time data withthe reliability prediction in terms of mean relative error and mean absolute relativeerror as 0.0060 and 0.0121, respectively, the claim has been verified. The resultsclaim that the proposed algorithm predicts attractive outcomes in terms of meanabsolute relative error plus mean relative error compared to the other existingmodels that justify the reliability prediction of the proposed model. Thus, thisnovel technique intends to make this model as simple as possible to improvethe software reliability.

In the early stage of software development,a software requirements specification(SRS)is essential,and whether the requirements are clear and explicit is the ***,due to various reasons,there may be a large number of *** generate high-quality software requirements specifications,numerous researchers have developed a variety of ways to improve the quality of *** this paper,we propose a questions extraction method based on SRS elements decomposition,which evaluates the quality of SRS in the form of numerical *** proposed method not only evaluates the quality of SRSs but also helps in the detection of defects,especially the description problem and omission defects in *** verify the effectiveness of the proposed method,we conducted a controlled experiment to compare the ability of checklist-based review(CBR)and the proposed method in the SRS *** CBR is a classicmethod of reviewing SRS *** a lot of practice and improvement for a long time,CBR has excellent review ability in improving the quality of software requirements *** experimental results with 40 graduate studentsmajoring in software engineering confirmed the effectiveness and advantages of the proposed ***,the shortcomings and deficiencies of the proposed method are also observed through the ***,the proposed method has been tried out by engineers with practical work experience in software development industry and received good feedback.

A Novel Trustworthiness Measurement Model Based on Weight and User Feedback

software trustworthiness is an essential criterion for evaluating software quality. In componentbased software, different components play different roles and different users give different grades of trustworthiness after using the software. The two elements will both affect the trustworthiness of software. When the software quality is evaluated comprehensively, it is necessary to consider the weight of component and user feedback. According to different construction of components, the different trustworthiness measurement models are established based on the weight of components and user feedback. Algorithms of these trustworthiness measurement models are designed in order to obtain the corresponding trustworthiness measurement value automatically. The feasibility of these trustworthiness measurement models is demonstrated by a train ticket purchase system.

Different types of pandemics that have appeared from time to time have changed many aspects of daily *** governments encourage their citizens to use certain applications to help control the spread of disease and to deliver other services during *** Saudi government has launched several mobile apps to control the pandemic and have made these apps available through Google Play and the app store.A huge number of reviews are written daily by users to express their opinions,which include significant information to improve these *** manual processing and extracting of information from users’reviews is an extremely difficult and time-consuming ***,the use of intelligent methods is necessary to analyse users’reviews and extract issues that can help in improving these *** research aims to support the efforts made by the Saudi government for its citizens and residents by analysing the opinions of people in Saudi Arabia that can be found as reviews on Google Play and the app store using sentiment analysis and machine learning *** the best of our knowledge,this is the first study to explore users’opinions about governmental apps in Saudi *** findings of this analysis will help government officers make the right decisions to improve the quality of the provided services and help application developers improve these applications by fixing potential issues that cannot be identified during application testing phases.A new dataset used for this research includes 8000 user reviews gathered from social media,Google Play and the app *** methods are applied to the dataset,and the results show that the k nearest neighbourhood(KNN)method generates the highest accuracy compared to other implemented methods.

software continues to evolve due to changing requirements, platforms and other environmental pressures. Modern software is dependent on frameworks, and if the frameworks evolve, the software has to evolve as well. On the other hand, the software may be changed due to changing requirements. Therefore, in high-confidence software evolution, we must consider both framework evolution and client evolution, each of which may incur faults and reduce software quality. In this article, we present a set of approaches to address some problems in high-confidence software evolution. In particular, to support framework evolution, we propose a history-based matching approach to identify a set of transformation rules between different APIs, and a transformation language to support automatic transformation. To support client evolution for high-confidence software, we propose a path-exploration-based approach to generate tests efficiently by pruning paths irrelevant to changes between versions, several coverage-based approaches to optimize test execution, and approaches to locate faults and fix memory leaks automatically. These approaches facilitate high-confidence software evolution from various aspects.

In recent years, to maximize the value of software testing and analysis, we have proposed the methodology of cooperative software testing and analysis （in short as cooperative testing and analysis） to enable testing and analysis tools to cooperate with their users （in the form of tool-human cooperation）, and enable one tool to cooperate with another tool （in the form of tool-tool cooperation）. Such cooperations are motivated by the observation that a tool is typically not powerful enough to address complications in testing or analysis of complex real-world software, and the tool user or another tool may be able to help out some problems faced by the tool. To enable tool-human or tool-tool cooperation, effective mechanisms need to be developed 1） for a tool to communicate problems faced by the tool to the tool user or another tool, and 2） for the tool user or another tool to assist the tool to address the problems. Such methodology of cooperative testing and analysis forms a new research frontier on synergistic cooperations between humans and tools along with cooperations between tools and tools. This article presents recent example advances and challenges on cooperative testing and analysis.

Over the past decade, open-source software use has grown. Today, many companies including Google, Microsoft, Meta, RedHat, MongoDB, and Apache are major participants of open-source contributions. With the increased use of open-source software or integration of open-source software into custom-developed software, the quality of this software component increases in importance. This study examined a sample of open-source applications from GitHub. Static software analytics were conducted, and each application was classified for its risk level. In the analyzed applications, it was found that 90% of the applications were classified as low risk or moderate low risk indicating a high level of quality for open-source applications.

Test case generation based on orthogonal table for software black-box testing

software testing is an important means to assure the software quality. This paper presents a practicable method to generate test cases of software testing, which is operational and high efficient. We discuss the identification of software specification categories and choices and make a classification tree. Based on the orthogonal array, it is easy to generate test cases. The number of this method is less than that of all combination of the choices.

Do Rules and Patterns Affect Design Maintainability?

At the present time, best rules and patterns have reached a zenith in popularity and diffusion, thanks to the software community＇s efforts to discover, classify and spread knowledge concerning all types of rules and patterns. Rules and patterns are useful elements, but many features remain to be studied if we wish to apply them in a rational manner. The improvement in quality that rules and patterns can inject into design is a key issue to be analyzed, so a complete body of empirical knowledge dealing with this is therefore necessary. This paper tackles the question of whether design rules and patterns can help to improve the extent to which designs are easy to understand and modify. An empirical study, composed of one experiment and a replica, was conducted with the aim of validating our conjecture. The results suggest that the use of rules and patterns affect the understandability and modifiability of the design, as the diagrams with rules and patterns are more difficult to understand than non-rule/pattern versions and more effort is required to carry out modifications to designs with rules and patterns.
