Introduction: The elbow is a superficial joint, particularly exposed to direct impact, forced movement, and overstrain. Our work aimed to study magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) pathologies of the soft tissues of the elbow through illustrative cases. Methodology: This was a retrospective and prospective cross-sectional study covering a period of one year, from June 2020 to June 2021, at the Saint Camille Hospital in Ouagadougou and the Polyclinique Notre Dame de la Paix. Results: In general, this study found that the pathologies diagnosed on MRI were lateral epicondylitis, subcutaneous type V elbow lipoma and liposarcoma, anteromedial cortical fracture of the radial cup, cortical detachment fracture of the lateral epicondylitis, medial epicondylitis, villonodular articular synovitis, simple dermo-hypodermatitis, sequellar fibrosis of the ulnar nerve, Workman's syndrome (median and ulnar nerves) and osteoarthritis of the elbow. Lateral epicondylitis was the most frequent pathology, and most patients consulted for elbow pain predominantly associated with pressure on the epicondyle, with relative functional impotence and, occasionally, elbow swelling. Conclusion: MRI, as a complement to ultrasound and radiography, remains the most informative examination for exploring soft-tissue pathologies of the elbow.

Presented in this paper are the results of ultrasounic examination in 29 cases of hemangiomas of soft tissue. Out of the 29 cases, 20 lesions were revealed as heterogeneous echoic masses; 6 as anechoic areas and 3 as solid masses. Hyperechoic foci of calcifications or phlebolithes were detected in 16 cases. Intramuscular hemangiomas were sonographically diagnosed in 15 patients; hemangiomas of soft tissue in 8, pseudoaneurysm in 3; deformity of the arteriovenous fistula in 1 and hemangiosarcoma in 2. The diagnosis in 28 patients were surgically and pathologically confirmed and the remaining one was confirmed by aspiration and cytological examination. The diagnostic accuracy of the ultrasound was 100%.

In this study, the interaction between diode laser radiation and chicken soft tissue was studied in vitro by a high-speed digital video camera. We used a diode laser with a wavelength of （980 ±10）nm and average power of 10 W. The diode laser was operated in continuous wave （CW） and pulsed modes. In CW mode, the average laser radiation power was 10 W; in pulsed mode, the average laser radiation power was I0 W and the peak power was 20 W. Diode laser radiation was delivered to soft tissue （chicken meat） using a quartz optical fiber with either a clear distal end （clear tip） or a distal end containing an optothermal converter （hot tip）. Application of the diode laser in pulsed mode resulted in crater depths and areas of collateral damage in soft tissue about 1.6 times greater than those observed in CW mode at treatment with the clear tip. Significant differences in the crater depth and collateral damage width of chicken meat were not found after hot-tip treatment with the diode laser in CW and pulsed modes. soft tissue treated with the hot tip showed crater depths about 3.4 times greater than those observed after treatment with the clear tip. Hot tip treatment further resulted in collateral damage widths about 2.7 times lower than those obtained after treatment with the clear tip.
