In recent years,China has been using its soft power(most notably,the establishment of Confucius Institutes)to influence public opinion in foreign ***,the literature on soft power has yet to provide a definitive answer about whether that has led to a positive image of China in the foreign ***,it is not clear if a positive image would influence public attitudes concerning foreign policies in those countries,such as policies related to trade and military *** on an online survey experiment in June 2018,this research shows that soft power information(about positive contributions of Confucius Institutes to the American society)does make the US public feel warmer towards China and become more willing to support trade ***,the warm feeling does not alter public attitudes towards a potential military conflict with China over disputed islands in the South China *** study provides both empirical support and advice to policymakers interested in the influence of China’s soft power on US public opinion.

Using the soft power 30 Index,this research focusses on assessing the soft power status of the United Arab Emirates(UAE)by exam-ining the elements of its soft power and potential challenges it may face in the *** study conducts in-depth interviews with foreign diplomats and academics based in the UAE and Emirati diplomats and *** data are supplemented with primary and secondary data from governmental and inter-national agencies as well as media *** UAE’s case dem-onstrates that soft power can be consciously developed by any country regardless of its regime type,size,location,and religious or racial background by getting its domestic affairs in order.A country’s domestic success in governance,enterprise,culture,education and digital infrastructure leads to global attraction,which ultimately enhances the image of a country such as the *** eventually creates opportunities for more global partner-ships and engagements in the areas of multilateralism,philan-thropy,peacebuilding,conflict resolution and event ***,these efforts face the following challenges:the threat of widely diffused actions among public and private actors,the financial cost of soft power engagement and projections,the UAE’s lack of a global media platform for shaping global agendas and its increasing use of hard power in response to geopolitical threats which can negatively affect its image.

Since the late 1980s,there has been a resurgence of regionalism in world *** for new alliances are opened up often on a regional *** East and Southeast Asia,regionalization is becoming evident in higher education,with both awareness and signs of a rising ASEAN+3 higher education *** quest for regional influence in Southeast Asia,however,has not been immune from *** fact has been China’s growing soft *** a systematically planned soft power policy,China is projecting soft power actively through higher education in the ***,China-ASEAN relations in higher education have been little *** the mainstay of the practices of internationalization in higher education that focuses overwhelmingly on educational exchange and collaboration with affluent Western countries,China’s interactions with ASEAN member countries in higher education are fulfilled by“quiet achievers,”mainly seen at the regional institutions in relatively less developed provinces such as Guangxi and *** article selects regional higher education institutions in China’s much disadvantaged provinces to depict a different picture to argue that regionalization could contribute substantially to internationalization,if a variety of factors are combined properly.

Using a newly built soft power index,we examine whether and how soft power affects Chinese firm-level export to the Belt and Road(B&R)countries from 2000 to *** find that soft power has significantly positive effects on both export value and export product types for the B&R *** effects are more pronounced than those for non-B&R countries and differ not only between the"Belt"and the"Road"countries but also regional groups,firm ownerships,modes of trade,and *** analysis shows that soft power increases the intensive margin of exports by approximately three times that of the extensive ***,our findings provide a new perspective for understanding both the Belt and Road Initiative(BRI)and the contemporary economic evolution occurring in China.

Mediatic sporting events are increasingly used in the geopolitical arena to gain consensus, at the same time emerging as platforms for the discussion of social issues, such as human rights and sustainability. This article presents an investigation into the role of mediatic sporting events and digital platforms in sparking political debate and social engagement to bring about change, including discussions on global and local interests and the performances of activist fans to promote debate on specific issues. The investigation employs a quantitative methodology. The initial inductive analysis uses a matrix of cultural key-frames of the empowerment and protest that accompany media sporting events, verifying their presence and effectiveness in different communication milieus. An analysis of the representation of protests on social media was performed through content analysis. The results of the investigation show that mediatic sporting events are to be understood as a diverse range of generators of multiple political effects: from the exercise of power to mass mobilization and media criticism.

Saudi foreign policy entered into a transformation period towardsa de-militarization and de-escalation with the regional and nonregionalactors since the Al-Ula Peace in January 2021. Under thesupervision of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Saudi decision-makers constructed a new domestic power paradigm basedon economic diversification and an ambitious Saudi nationdescribed in the 2030 Saudi Vision. Accordingly, the changingregional security perceptions of the regional actors based on diplomaticmanoeuvres awakened Saudi Arabia to invest in buildingsoft power apart from the religious leadership in the Muslimworld. Thus, the King Salman period experiences producing aSaudi soft power in cultural, social, political, and economic wayswhile silencing the religious rhetoric in foreign policy making.
