ROBUST CONSENSUS AND soft control OF MULTI-AGENT SYSTEMS WITH NOISES

This paper considers the problem of robust consensus for a basic class of multi-agent systems with bounded disturbances and with directed information flow. A necessary and sufficient condition on the robust consensus is first presented, which is then applied to the analysis, control and decision making problems in the noise environments. In particular, the authors show how a soft control technique will synchronize a group of autonomous mobile agents without changing the existing local rule of interactions, and without assuming any kind of connectivity conditions on the system trajectories.

We apply soft control method on an opinion dynamic model, the weighted De Groot model, to change the convergent opinion value . The interaction network plays an important role in the dynamics of system, and the soft control performance（Δ, the difference between the new convergent opinion value  and the original convergent opinion value ’）. In this paper, we define a new network feature Ω, called ‘network differential degree’, to measure how node degrees couple with influential values in the network, i.e., large Ω indicates nodes with high degree is more likely to couple with large influential value. We investigate the relationship between the soft control performance and the network differential degree Ω in the following three intervention scenarios:（1） add one special agent（shill） to connect to one normal agent to achieve the best soft control performance which can maimize |Δ|;（2） add one edge between two normal agents which can maimize |Δ|;（3） add a number of edges among agents which can maimize |Δ|. Through simulations we find significant correlation between |Δ*|（the maimum value of |Δ|）and Ω in all three scenarios: the smaller Ω is, the larger |Δ*| is. So Ω could be used to predict how difficult it is to intervene and change the convergent opinion value of the weighted Degroot model by soft control intervention method. Meanwhile, a theorem of adding one edge and an algorithm for adding optimal edges are given.

Multi-agent systems enjoy some basic characteristics of complex systems, which arise from diverse fields in natural and artificial systems, such as flocking of birds, schools of fish, traffic systems and robots formation. A basic problem is to understand how locally interacting rules lead to collective behaviors (e. g. , synchronization) of the overall system. The so-called Vicsek’s model is a simple, typical, and well-known model in describing and comprehending the collective behaviors of a wide class of multi-agent systems. It captures some basic features of complex multi-agent systems, such as local rules, dynamic behaviors, and changing neighborhood. The model looks very simple, but the analysis is quite complicated, because there are nonlinear interactions among the agents of this model. In fact, most of the existing results on synchronization need to impose a certain connectivity condition on the global behaviors of the agents’ trajectories, which are quite hard to verify in general. The main purpose of this talk is: (1) to present some recent progress in the analysis of the Vicsek’s model. First, we will show that each agent’s heading has a limit in any cases;then, replace the previously used connectivity conditions by some easily verifiable ones, imposed only on the agents’ initial conditions and the parameters of the model in both deterministic and stochastic frameworks;after that we will also consider both simplifications and generalizations of the Vicsek’s model. (2) to discuss some control problems based on both Vicsek’s model and Boid model, where both soft control and distributed control will be investigated.

Cooperation possesses a very significant role on the development of human being societies and animal colonies. Understanding the emergence of cooperation is a central topic in the study of multi-agent *** Prisoner’s Dilemma proposes a question to us,how the emergence of cooperation occurs in the population of selfish agents without centralized *** work mainly focus on the design of dynamics in the specific system,or say the playing rule in game theory. However at some circumstances,it is impossible for the original system to run according to the new *** paper incorporates the idea of intervention into the evolution of cooperation at the premise of not changing the playing rule in the original system. With the introduction of a small proportion of special agents,the level of cooperation is increased *** the meantime, this mechanism is robust to the plausible noise existing in the evolution.
