Accurate state estimation is critical to wide-area situational awareness of smart ***,recent research found that power system state estimators are vulnerable to a new type of cyber-attack,called false data injection attack(FDIA).In order to ensure the security of power system operation and control,a hybrid FDIA detection mechanism utilizing temporal correlation is *** proposed mechanism combines Variational Mode Decomposition(VMD)technology and machine *** the purpose of identifying the features of FDIA,VMD is used to decompose the system state time series into an ensemble of components with different ***,due to the lack of online model updating ability in a traditional extreme learning machine,an OS-extreme learning machine(OSELM)which has sequential learning ability is used as a detector for identifying *** proposed detection mechanism is evaluated on the IEEE-14 bus system using real load data from an independent system operator in New *** from detection accuracy,the impact of attack intensity and environment noise on the performance of the proposed method are *** simulation results demonstrate the efficiency and robustness of our method.

smart grid is considered as a promising approach to solve the problems of carbon emission and energy crisis. In smart grid, the power consumption data are collected to optimize the energy ***, security issues in communications still present practical concerns. To cope with these challenges, we propose EFFECT, an efficient flexible privacy-preserving aggregation scheme with authentication in smart grid. Specifically, in the proposed scheme, we achieve both data source authentication and data aggregation in high efficiency. Besides, in order to adapt to the dynamic smart grid system, the threshold for aggregation is adjusted according to the energy consumption information of each particular residential area and the time period, which can support fault-tolerance while ensuring individual data privacy during *** security analysis shows that our scheme can satisfy the desired security requirements of smart *** addition, we compare our scheme with existing schemes to demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed scheme in terms of low computational complexity and communication overhead.

By integrating the traditional power grid with information and communication technology, smart grid achieves dependable, efficient, and flexible grid data processing. The smart meters deployed on the user side of the smart grid collect the users' power usage data on a regular basis and upload it to the control center to complete the smart grid data acquisition. The control center can evaluate the supply and demand of the power grid through aggregated data from users and then dynamically adjust the power supply and price, etc. However, since the grid data collected from users may disclose the user's electricity usage habits and daily activities, privacy concern has become a critical issue in smart grid data aggregation. Most of the existing privacy-preserving data collection schemes for smart grid adopt homomorphic encryption or randomization techniques which are either impractical because of the high computation overhead or unrealistic for requiring a trusted third party.

In this paper, we present a distributed consensus-based algorithm to solve the social welfare maximization problem. This is one of typical problems of distributed energy management in smart grid. In this problem, we consider not only the generator and demand, but also the transmission losses which make the feasibility set of the formulated problem a non-convex set. In solving this issue, we find a noticeable result that the primal problem has the same solution with a new convex optimization problem by getting the utmost out of the implied term in practice. Considering the general communication topology among generators and demands, we first design a finite step algorithm to make each generator and demand know the information of parameters of ***, we design a distributed algorithm and also prove the optimality and convergence of the proposed algorithm. Finally, the convergence and optimality are examined through extensive simulations.

While remote zone 3 protection relays are essential to power systems, their false trips are also one of main causes related to cascading blackouts. Although many methods have been developed on traditional power systems to address this issue, the past cascading failure events showed the ineffectiveness of these methods. With the development of smart grid （SG）, new agent-based methods have been proposed to address this issue by utilizing SG real-time communications. We found that these solutions simply assume ideal communication networks and do not consider the effect of practical network constraints and resource management. In this paper, we propose several solutions to address practical network resource management and constraints, and further improve the agent-based solutions in order to prevent the false tripping of zone 3 relays in various conditions. We also analyze the potential issues of these solutions, and point out the future investigation in this direction.

Millions of smart meters have been installed all around the world so far. The reported meter readings are conducive for utility companies to provide high quality of service. To efficiently and securely make use of those readings, data aggregation has been widely studied. Lu et al. proposed an Efficient and privacypreserving aggregation(EPPA) scheme for secure smart grid communications in recent years. Unfortunately, we found a man-in-the-middle attack to the EPPA scheme in this paper. We then propose a new meter reading aggregation scheme, namely Universally composable meter reading aggregation(UCMRA) scheme, in order to resist against that attack. Moreover, we give a universally composable symbolic analysis to prove the security for UCMRA scheme. This proof also enables the UCMRA scheme to adopt an alternative cryptographic primitive arbitrarily, as long as the primitive meets the requirements of the corresponding ideal functionality. Finally, the experiment results show that the performance of the UCMRA scheme is almost as good as that of the EPPA scheme.

With the development of smart grid, operation and control of a power system can be realized through the power communication network, especially the power production and enterprise management business involve a large amount of sensitive information, and the requirements for data security and real-time transmission are gradually improved. In this paper, a new 9-dimensional(9D) complex chaotic system with quaternion is proposed for the encryption of smart grid data. Firstly, we present the mathematical model of the system, and analyze its attractors, bifurcation diagram, complexity,and 0–1 test. Secondly, the pseudo-random sequences are generated by the new chaotic system to encrypt power ***, the proposed encryption algorithm is verified with power data and images in the smart grid, which can ensure the encryption security and real time. The verification results show that the proposed encryption scheme is technically feasible and available for power data and image encryption in smart grid.
