Orthodontic simulation system with force feedback for training complete bracket placement procedures

Background A virtual system that simulates the complete process of orthodontic bracket placement can be used for pre-clinical skill training to help students gain confidence by performing the required tasks on a virtual patient.Methods The hardware for the virtual simulation system is built using two force feedback devices to support bi-manual force feedback operation.A 3D mouse is used to adjust the position of the virtual patient.A multi-threaded computational methodology is adopted to satisfy the requirements of the frame rate.The computation threads mainly consist of the haptic thread running at a frequency of>1000Hz and the graphic thread at>30Hz.The graphic thread allows the graphics engine to effectively display the visual effects of biofilm removal and acid erosion through texture mapping.Using the haptic thread,the physics engine adopts the hierarchy octree collision-detection algorithm to simulate the multi-point and multi-region interaction between the tools and the virtual environment.Its high efficiency guarantees that the time cost can be controlled within 1 ms.The physics engine also performs collision detection between the tools and particles,making it possible to simulate paint and removal of colloids.The surface-contact constraints are defined in the system;this ensures that the bracket will not divorce from or embed into the tooth during the adjustment of the bracket.Therefore,the simulated adjustment is more realistic and natural.Results A virtual system to simulate the complete process of orthodontic bracket bonding was developed.In addition to bracket bonding and adjustment,the system simulates the necessary auxiliary steps such as smearing,acid etching,and washing.Furthermore,the system supports personalized case training.Conclusions The system provides a new method for students to practice orthodontic skills.

The simulation system is designed to imitate a greenhouse environment with the software on computer. The relation ships between greenhouse indoor environment, outdoor environment and environment conditioner are presented The energy balance equation and humidity balance equation of the greenhouse are givea In this system, the weather data is generated by computer according to the real weather data and rules in Beijing. The state of the devices can be dynamically decided based on the given intelligent control algorithm Then the parameters of the greenhouse environment are decided based on the greenhouse model that presented All the results are showed on the screen with kindly interface and stored to disk automatically.

According to the present situation and its disadvantages of the current practice teaching of the sport stadium operation and management, the virtual reality technology is used to develop a teaching simulation system in this paper in order to improve the practice teaching effect. The main function framework of the teaching simulation system and its advantages in the practice teaching of sports stadium operation and management are introduced. The application example of this system is also involved in this paper.

In this paper,based on the sum-up of research on transfer performance of packing ball regenerator in documents,a new numerical method to analysis regenerator is proposed and relevant simulation system is designed.Aimed at the correct matching situation of fume and air&gas in engineering,the simulation system describe the effects of any varying parameter in regenerator.The comparison between simulation results and engineering data indicates that above system can simulate packing ball regenerator’s running status with high precision and can direct regenerator’s design and control further.

Situation awareness simulation system is the important phase in digital army simulation test.As the existence of heterogeneity of resources,great difficulties and extra work are brought to the simulation tests for situation awareness system.The heterogeneity of resources can be effectively shield and the efficiency of the system can then be improved by using virtual technology.The main problems of tests about simulating system are discussed in this paper.The applications of virtual technology are studied to solve the existed problems in simulation tests of the situation awareness system,and the application framework is designed based on virtual technology.

In this paper, an improved air discharge fluid model under non-uniform electric field is constructed based on the plasma module COMSOL Multiphysics with artificial stability term, and the boundary conditions developed in the previous paper are applied to the calculation of photoionization rate. Based on the modified model, the characteristics of low temperature subatmospheric air discharge under 13 kV direct current voltage are discussed, including needle-plate and needle-needle electrode structures. Firstly, in order to verify the reliability of the model, a numerical example and an experimental verification were carried out for the modified model respectively. Both verification results show that the model can ensure the accuracy and repeatability of the calculation. Secondly, according to the calculation results of the modified model, under the same voltage and spacing, the reduced electric field under low temperature subatmosphere pressure is larger than that under normal temperature and atmospheric pressure. The high electric field leads to the air discharge at low temperature and sub atmospheric pressure entering the streamer initiation stage earlier, and has a faster propagation speed in the streamer development stage, which shortens the overall discharge time. Finally, the discharge characteristics of the two electrode structures are compared, and it is found that the biggest difference between them is that there is a pre-ionization region near the cathode in the needle-needle electrode structure. When the pre-ionization level reaches 1013 cm-3, the propagation speed of the positive streamer remains unchanged throughout the discharge process, and is no longer affected by the negative streamer. The peak value of electric field decreases with the increase of pre-ionization level, and tends to be constant during streamer propagation. Emergencies, which are very difficult to be forecasted, would always bring about huge harm to people. Therefore, to find ways to reduce such devastating effects, researches on emergency management have turned to be paramount. Nowadays, the rapid development of computer technology has supplied a new and effective idea for the researches of emergency management, namely that the researches can be done in computers by performing simulation experiments according to the artificial societies, computational experiments, parallel execution （ACP） approach. Guided by this approach, this paper has proposed one agent-based prototype simulation system to research emergency management. Firstly, structure of the simulation system oriented to emergency management was analyzed and designed. Then a simulation system oriented to public health emergency management was constructed to study the transmission of infectious diseases. Finally, several experiments were carried out based on the system, with several significant conclusions having also been obtained.
