In order to reduce the hydrolysis rate of Si powder and inhibit the swelling and cracking of cast samples,Si powder was treated at different temperatures for 5 h,and then slurries and SiC-Si3N4 materials were prepared.The effect of the preheating temperature on the composition of the Si powder,the hydrolysis rate as well as the nitridation of the SiC-Si3N4 materials was studied.The results show that with the increase of the pretreatment temperature of Si powder,the oxidation degree of Si powders increases,the viscosity of the slurry with PAAS dispersant decreases gradually,and the hydrolysis reaction of Si powder decreases gradually;the Si powder pretreated at 700℃ or lower has little effect on the nitriding process,while the Si powder pretreated at 800 t has a great effect on the nitriding process,which is not conducive to the nitriding sintering of the samples.Therefore,the Si powder pretreated at 700 t for 5 h has the best properties,which not only has lower hydrolysis rate and good slurry fluidity,but also has mild effect on the nitriding reaction.

Unburned magnesium aluminate spinel refractories were prepared using sintered magnesium aluminate spinel as the main raw material,phenolic resin as the binder,aluminum powder(2%,4%,and 6%by mass)and silicon powder(when Al powder addition is 4%,Si powder addition varies:1%and 2%,by mass)as additives.The effects of the Al powder and Si powder additions on the properties and microstructure of the refractories heat treated at different temperatures(1000,1400,and 1600℃for 3 h)were studied.The results show that the Al powder addition can greatly enhance the cold modulus of rupture of the samples fired at 1000 or 1400℃,and meanwhile AlN reinforcement phase forms in the matrix,which greatly improves the hot modulus of rupture of the samples at 1400℃;however,the heat treatment at 1600℃has little influence on the strength;the addition of Al powder and Si powder results in the formation of low melting point phases,greatly reducing the hot modulus of rupture.However,the low melting point phases promote sintering,which enhances the density and the cold modulus of rupture,and decreases the volume change during heating.The samples added with Al and Si all have higher cold modulus of rupture than those added with Al powder only.

In this work, silicon ink composing of silicon powder and zinc oxide solution was formulated and spin-coated on quartz and n/p-Si substrates followed by drying the films under atmosphere at the temperature of 550°C. The results showed that this top-addition layer could be the highly promising layer for photo-generating carriers in third-generation photovoltaics to enhance blue-light absorption. X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy techniques were used to study the presence of silicon and zinc oxide nano-crystallites. The thin films consisting of different energy bandgap of Si nanocrystals(～100 nm) with narrow bandgap and spherical Zn O:Bi nanocrystal(～20 nm) with wider bandgap could be obtained from the evidence of bandgap enlargement. The band gaps of the thin films were tunable by adjusting silicon dots density in Zn O:Bi film. Energy upshift of light absorption edge depended on the silicon dots density was observed in the range 1.6–3.3 eV related band gap enlargement by Tauc plot. Under illumination, a high photocurrent gain of the thin film comprised of low Si dots density coated on a quartz substrate was about 10~3 times higher compared with its dark current. This result is agreeably explained in terms of its lower superficial trap states at the interface between silicon and zinc oxide matrix. The composite layer can be applied to a third-generation solar cell with the efficiency 1.50% higher than that with a typical crystalline-Si solar cell.

Influences of Al and Si powders on Microstructure and Hot Mechanical Properties of Al_2O_3-C Slide Plates

The basic formulation of Al2O3- C slide plates was65%（ in mass,the same hereinafter） white fused corundum particles,25% white fused corundum fines,6% active α-Al2O3 micropowder,4% carbon black and flake graphite, and additional 4% phenolic resin.Based on this formulation,3% Al powder,3% Si powder,and 3% Al ＋ 3% Si powder were used to substitute equivalent white corundum fines to improve the hot mechanical properties of Al2O3- C slide plates. The specimens with dimensions of 140 mm × 25 mm × 25 mm were pressed at 150 MPa,dried at 200 ℃ for 24 h,and hot treated at 1 400 ℃ for 3 h in carbon embedded condition. Then hot modulus of rupture and thermal shock resistance of the specimens were tested and the phase compositions and microstructure were analyzed. The results show that specimen with 3% Al powder has the higher hot modulus of rupture but lower residual modulus of rupture after thermal shock than the specimen with3% Si powder; the specimen with 3% Al ＋ 3% Si powders exhibits the highest hot modulus of rupture and the best thermal shock resistance; the change of mechanical property is closely related with the in-situ formed nonoxides： AlN in the form of bars is formed in specimens with Al powder; fibrous SiC whiskers are formed in specimens with Si powder; in the specimens with both Al and Sipowders,besides AlN and SiC whiskers,hexagonal tabular SiAlON is in-situ synthesized,which interlocks with each other.

In order to enhance performance of pre-cast shapes of alumina based castables, the present work explored the approach of forming in-situ bonding phases by incorporating Si powders and then heating in carbon, embedded atmosphere. Using tabular alumina as aggregates, tabular alumina, SiC powders, Si powders, calcium aluminate cenwnt, microsilica and ultrafine α-A12 03 powders as matrix, alumina based ultra low cement （ULC） castables were prepared. Influences of Si powder addition at O, 4% , 6% , 8% alul 10% （in nutss ） on regular properties, cold modulus of rupture （CMOR）, hot modulus of rupture （HMOR）, thermal shock resistance （TSR） and microstructure of the castables after carbonization were investigated. After incorporation of Si powders and carbon embedded heating, the in-situ mullite and nonoxide phases such as SiAION and SiC can be fornwd by oxidation, nitridation or carbomlzation reaction. HMOR and TSR of the castables with in-situ nonoxides bonding are obviously improted. After carbon embedded heating, the HMOR at 1 400 ℃ increases from 1.6 MPa to 8. 3 MPa, and the residual CMOR ratio after thermal shock increases from 64. 9% to 137. 9% when Si addition increases from 0 to 10%.

Effects of B_4 C and Si Antioxidant on Oxidation Resistance of Low-carbon MgO-C Brick

Low-carbon MgO - C specimens with dimension of Ф6 mm × 36 mm were prepared using fused magnesia, flake graphite and carbon black as main starting materials, thermoplastic phenolic resin as binder, hexamethyl ene tetramine as curing agent, Si powder （ w （Si）〉 80%, particle size 〈0. 074 mm） and B℃ （ d90 =36. 5 μm ） as antioxidant, pressing under 200 MPa and drying at 200 ℃ for 24 h. The oxidation resistance tests were conducted at 600 ℃ , 1 000 ℃ and 1 400 ℃ for 2 h, respectively. Effects of B4C and Si antioxidant on oxidation resistance of low-carbon MgO - C brick were studied by comparing the areas of the decarburized layers. The results shaw that：（1） When Si powder addition is 3%, at 600 ℃ and 1 000 ℃, the specimens with 0. 5% B4C perform good oxidation resistance; at 1 400 ℃, the oxidation resistance of the specimens is improved with the addition of B4C increasing, and that of the specimen with 0. 7% B4 C is the best. （2） When B4C addition is 0. 5%, at 600 ℃ and 1 000 ℃ ,the oxidation resistances of the specimens with 3% and 5% Si powder are similar, which are better than that of the specimen with 1% Si powder; and at 1 400 ℃ , the oxidation resistance of the specimens is improved obviously with the addition of Si powder increasing, and that of the specimen with 5% Si powder is the best. （3） Bused on the results, it is believed that the low-carbon MgO - C brick with 0. 5% B4C and 3% Si powder performs the best oxidation resistance.
