Research on shape-memory polymers(SMPs) and their composites has been one of the most popular subjects in recent years,due to their many novel properties and great *** are one kind of novel smart material,which are able to recover their original shape upon applying an external stimulus,such as heat, electricity,light,and solvent,*** have also gained substantial interest in the various applications,owing to the large recoverable deformation,lower manufacturing cost,easier pretreatment procedure,and lower recovery *** SMPs by far surpass shape-memory alloys and shape-memory ceramics in many properties.

Finite element analysis of shape-memory polymer mast

Space masts are widely used in the aerospace engineering as one type of deployable space *** this paper,based on the stimuli-responsive effects of shape-memory polymers(SMPs),an intelligent mast with shape-memory function is *** thermos-mechanical constitutive model of SMPs is associated with the finite element(FE)software,and then the deployable deformation and shape-memory effect of the intelligent mast are investigated by the FE *** is demonstrated that the mast can automatically deploy due to the shape recovery characteristics of ***,the effects of structure parametric of the mast and temperature are also *** results can contribute to the design and application of novel SMP masts.
