sensory and immune genes identification and analysis in a widely used parasitoid wasp Trichogramma dendrolimi （Hymenoptera： Trichogrammatidae）

Trichogramma dendrolimi Matsumura （Hymenoptera： Trichogrammatidae） is one of the preponderant egg parasitoids of Dendrolimus spp., which are important defoliators of coniferous forests. This parasitoid wasp has been widely released to control pine caterpillar and other lepidopteran pests, but its control efficiency needs to be improved. sensory systems are crucial for T dendrolimi to locate hosts, and immunity is probably involved after egg deposition in the host cavity; however, few reports have focused on the molecular mechanism of olfactory detection and survival of T. dendrolimi. It is necessary to identify these genes before further functional research is conducted. In this study, we assembled and analyzed the transcriptome of T. dendrolimi using next-generation sequencing technology. The sequencing and assembly resulted in 38 565 contigs with N50 of 3422 bp. Sequence comparison indicate that T dendrolimi sequences are very similar to those of another parasitoid Nasonia vitripennis. Then the olfactory, vision, and immune- related gene families were identified, and phylogenetic analyses were performed with these genes from T. dendrolimi and other model insect species. Furthermore, phylogenetic tree with odorant binding proteins of T. dendrolimi and their host Dendrolimus was constructed to determine whether convergent evolution exists. These genes can be valid targets for further gene function research. The present study may help us to understand host location and survival mechanisms of T dendrolimi and to use them more efficiently for pest control in the future.

Somato_visceral interaction or acupoint_visceral interaction is an important subject that greatly concerns scholars of both Chinese traditional and Western modern medicine. The role of our newly discovered spinal projection neurons and type A or C spinal ganglion neurons in convergence and integration of somato_visceral sensation is introduced. The possible challenge brought about by these related results onto some traditional concepts in neuroscience is also discussed.

Surgical treatment for severe cubital tunnel syndrome with absent sensory nerve conduction

For severe cubital tunnel syndrome, patients with absent sensory nerve action potential tend to have more severe nerve damage than those without. Thus, it is speculated that such patients generally have a poor prognosis. How absent sensory nerve action potential affects surgical outcomes remains uncertain owing to a scarcity of reports and conflicting results. This retrospective study recruited one hundred and fourteen cases(88 patients with absent sensory nerve action potential and 26 patients with present sensory nerve action potential) undergoing either subcutaneous transposition or in situ decompression. The minimum follow-up was set at 2 years. Primary outcome measures of overall hand function included their McGowan grade, modified Bishop score, and Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder, and Hand Questionnaire(DASH) score. For patients with absent sensory nerve action potential, 71 cases(80.7%) achieved at least one McGowan grade improvement, 76 hands(86.4%) got good or excellent results according to the Bishop score, and the average DASH score improved 49.5 points preoperatively to 13.1 points postoperatively. When compared with the present sensory nerve action potential group, they showed higher postoperative McGowan grades and DASH scores, but there was no statistical difference between the modified Bishop scores of the two groups. Following in situ decompression or subcutaneous transposition, great improvement in hand function was achieved for severe cubital tunnel syndrome patients with absent sensory nerve action potential. The functional outcomes after surgery for severe cubital tunnel syndrome are worse in patients with absent sensory nerve action potential than those without. This study was approved by the Ethical Committee of Huashan Hospital, Fudan University, China(approval No. 2017142).

Factors Affecting sensory Quality of Cooked japonica Rice

The sensory quality of cooked rice is an important factor in determining its market price, as well as consumer acceptance and breeding efforts aimed at improvement of rice grain quality. In this study,the sensory quality and physicochemical properties of three japonica rice varieties harvested in two different growing locations(Xiangshui and Hangzhou of China) were compared to determine the most important factors affecting the sensory quality. All the three varieties had higher scores for overall sensory quality in Xiangshui than in Hangzhou, indicating that the growing location is a key factor in determining the sensory quality of cooked japonica rice. In addition to growing location, variety(genotype) also had an important effect. Longdao 18 scored the highest for overall sensory quality in the two locations, whereas Longdao 30 had the lowest score in Xiangshui, and both Longdao 20 and Longdao 30 had the lowest scores in Hangzhou. Many physicochemical properties, such as apparent amylose content, protein content, thermal properties and free amino acid contents, showed significant differences between the two locations. Correlation analysis showed that apparent amylose content and protein content had contrasting effects on all the sensory attributes. The overall sensory quality was negatively correlated with protein content(r =-0.89, P sensory quality of japonica rice. These findings will provide guidance for selection from the diverse genotypes available to develop new varieties with the desired eating and cooking quality.

Cell-free therapy:a neuroregenerative approach to sensory neuropathy?

Stem cells are considered as key therapeutic tools in the field of regenerative medicine. In the last decade, based on a growing body of knowledge about their mechanisms of action, a new way of exploring the therapeutic potential of stem cells without the need for cell transplantation has been evidenced. This approach, called cell-free therapy, uses stem cells as a source of therapeutic molecules rather than the therapeutic agent per se, and several studies have shown relevant therapeutic effects under a variety of experimental conditions, including nervous system disorders.

Antioxidant properties and sensory evaluation of microgreens from commercial and local farms

Microgreens are young and tender vegetables or herbs that provide attractive color,flavor,and *** purpose of this study was to evaluate the nutritional and sensory qualities of broccoli microgreens grown by different methods(hydroponically *** grown)and from different sources(commercial *** farm).No significant difference in total phenolic concentration and antioxidant capacity was found in all broccoli microgreens,but a significantly higher chlorophyll concentration was found in farm microgreens than the commercial ***,the soil-grown farm microgreens possessed a significantly higher vitamin C concentration than hydroponically-grown farm sample and commercial *** in the sensory study favored farm samples regardless of growing method,and their overall liking was significantly correlated with taste of the *** addition,six other microgreens from the local farm were analyzed for their nutritional *** conclusions suggested a potential for consumers to still benefit nutritionally by purchasing commercial microgreens at a lower cost;however,it may be worthwhile for consumers to purchase microgreens from local farms for a better sensory experience.

Synaptic connections between different sensory channels in CNS of the leech modulate the input of mechanosensory information

The mechanism for transmission of sensory information concerning a specific sensory modality or submodality can be called a sensory channel, including the receptors, sensory pathways and the parts of the central nervous system that further process the sensory information . A certain sensory channel can be activated by a suitable stimulus. sensory information is transduced by sensory receptor and is further transferred into central nervous system. The characteristics of a modality or submodality are mainly determined by the properties of the corresponding sensory receptors. However, besides the receptor properties, are there any other factors which have influence on the properties of a sensory modality? Is there a kind of gating mechanism existing which could selectively control the inputs of sensory information based on different sensory channels? Here we are trying to answer the above questions by studying the functional relationships between different mechanosensory modalities of leech.

Cilia play a wide range of critical roles in regulating cell motility,sensory signaling and metazoan development(Goetz and Anderson,2010;Reiter and Leroux,2017).Both motile cilia and pri-mary cilia consist of a basal body and a microtubule-based axoneme that is encompassed within the ciliary *** formationand maintenance of ciliary structure depends on bidirectional intraflagellar transport(IFT):the kinesin-2 family motor proteins deliver ciliary precursors bound to the IFT particle protein complex from the ciliary base to the tip and the cytoplasmic dynein-2 recy-cles the anterograde IFT-protein machinery and ciliary turnover products back to the base(Scholey,2013;Reiter and Leroux,2017).Defects of ciliary structure and function lead to more than 35 types of systemic disorders in most human organ *** are collectively called ciliopathies(Reiter and Leroux,2017).187 established and 241 candidate ciliopathy-associated genes have been identified from the human genome(Reiter and Leroux,2017).

sensory Analyses and Nutritional Qualities of Hand-Made Breads with Organic Grown Wheat Bread Populations

Population varieties can meet the needs of organic farming as they are composed of diverse genotypes and have nutritional and sensory characteristics of interest. Their intra-specific genetic variability helps to adapt to the diversity of soil and climate conditions, management practices and needs. Moreover, an integrated organic bread sector has emerged willing to use more wheat populations. To explore sensory and nutritional potential of bread wheat populations, hedonic tests, sensory profile and nutritional analyses were implemented on eight wheat population varieties and one modern variety. Hedonic tests revealed consensus among consumer when ranking according to specific sensory characteristics and showed preferences for red wheat breads. Descriptive sensory test showed significant differences between genotypes on 6 out of 11 descriptors and confirmed the sensory specificity of red wheat accessions. Nutritional analyses showed differences especially on minerals content. sensory differences between breads from different genotypes can be perceived both by trained and untrained panels as suggested by results. Moreover, red accessions showed specific sensory characteristics which are well-perceived by the two panels. Breeding effort should be maintained for high diverse genotypes with improved sensory and nutritional qualities adapted to organic farming conditions. Indicators like kernel colour should be sought to help integrate such criteria.

Beef loins, were de-boned and left unpackaged (n = 12) or packaged using dry-ageing bags (n = 12). A third batch (n = 12) were not boned out and unpackaged. Loins were aged in a chill at 2°C, with steaks (2.54 cm) tested on days 0, 7, 14 and 21 for % yield, colour, texture, pH, cooking losses and microbiological status. sensory affective analysis and a novel descriptive method (Ranking Descriptive Analysis) were also performed. The dry aged samples had significantly (P sensory methods utilised allowed samples to be assessed hedonically and descriptively in real time without the necessity to freeze samples and without reverse storage design.
