The authenticity of architectural heritage is interpreted differently in diverse cultural *** this inspire the conservation and contemporary regeneration of architectural heritage to adapt to the changing needs of modern life and society,rather than static exhibits in museums?This research focuses on Ganlan(pile-built timber construction)architecture to demonstrate how adaptive conservation and regeneration can keep traditional construction systems living and ***,a vernacular architectural archetype in the humid subtropical regions of Asia,has the following common features:free plans with an assembling frame structure,open and interactive envelopes to cope with the hot and damp climate,and stilts to deal with the rugged *** research employed a threefold method of field investigation,topological deformation,and experimental design in examining Lianghekou,a historic Tujia village in Western Hubei,*** findings reveal that Tujia people build their stilt houses with adaptable features to meet the changing functional requirements and variable *** traditions can be transmitted into the contemporary design,as our experimental design *** self-adaptability and topological deformation of Ganlan architectural heritage demonstrate a unique perspective of understanding authenticity,and contribute toward innovative application in the conservation and regeneration of vernacular architecture.

The function of solid electrolytes and the composition of solid electrolyte interphase(SEI)are highly significant for inhibiting the growth of Li ***,we report an in-situ interfacial passivation combined with self-adaptability strategy to reinforce Li_(0.33)La_(0.557)TiO_(3)(LLTO)-based solid-state ***,a functional SEI enriched with LiF/Li_(3)PO_(4) is formed by in-situ electrochemical conversion,which is greatly beneficial to improving interface compatibility and enhancing ion *** the polarized dielectric BaTiO_(3)-polyamic acid(BTO-PAA,BP)film greatly improves the Li-ion transport kinetics and homogenizes the Li *** expected,the resulting electrolyte offers considerable ionic conductivity at room temperature(4.3 x 10~(-4)S cm^(-1))and appreciable electrochemical decomposition voltage(5.23 V)after electrochemical *** Li-LiFePO_(4) batteries,it shows a high specific capacity of 153 mA h g^(-1)at 0.2C after 100 cycles and a long-term durability of 115 mA h g^(-1)at 1.0 C after 800 ***,a stable Li plating/stripping can be achieved for more than 900 h at 0.5 mA cm^(-2).The stabilization mechanisms are elucidated by ex-situ XRD,ex-situ XPS,and ex-situ FTIR techniques,and the corresponding results reveal that the interfacial passivation combined with polarization effect is an effective strategy for improving the electrochemical *** present study provides a deeper insight into the dynamic adjustment of electrode-electrolyte interfacial for solid-state lithium batteries.

Bending river is the most common river type in nature, and it is also a typical example for river evolution. The transform of the flow pattern can affect the development of the riverbed form. How biologically active matters survive adaptively in complex and changeable environments is a common concern of ***,evolution and natural selection are vital factors in the process of biological evolution and are also the key to survival in harsh ***,it is challenging to intuitively and accurately reproduce such longterm adaptive survival processes in the *** simulation experiments are intuitive and efficient,they lack ***,we propose to use swarm robots to study the adaptive process of active matter swarms in complex and changeable *** on a self-built virtual environmental platform and a robot swarm that can interact with the environment,we introduce the concept of genes into the robot system,giving each robot unique digital genes,and design robot breeding methods and rules for gene *** previous work[*** 119 e2120019119(2022)]has demonstrated the effectiveness of this *** this work,by analyzing the relationship between the genetic traits of the population and the characteristics of environmental resources,and comparing different experimental conditions,we verified in both robot experiments and corresponding simulation experiments that agents with genetic inheritance can survive for a long time under the action of natural selection in periodically changing *** also confirmed that in the robot system,both breeding and mutation are essential *** findings can help answer the practical scientific question of how individuals and swarms can successfully adapt to complex,dynamic,and unpredictable actual environments.

Adaptation is an eternal theme of biological evolution. The paper aims at exploring the conception of positive correlation between traditional Chinese medicine （TCM） and human homeostatic evolution based on medical perspective. Discussions mainly involve TCM conforming to natural laws and natural evolution of life, spontaneous harmonization of yin and yang and operating system of human self-healing, modern human immunology and human endogenous immune function in TCM, self-homeostasis of human micro-ecological state and balance mechanism on regulating base in TCM, as well as adaptation--eternal theme of biological evolution and safeguarding adaptability--value of TCM. In perspective of medicine, theory and practice of TCM are in positive correlation with human homeostatic evolution, and what TCM tries to maintain is human intrinsic adaptive capability to disease and nature. Therefore, it is the core value of TCM, which is to be further studied, explored, realized and known to the world.

2-D boundary-fitted coordinate grid generation for casting with complex shape

In order to overcome the zigzag grids generated by conventional finite difference method on complicated casting boundaries in the simulation of casting process, the generation program for 2-D boundary-fitted coordinate grid has been developed by solving a set of partial differential equations (PDE) numerically. The STL format files were treated as input data for 2-D physical regions. The equipartition method for boundary points was used to improve the self-adaptability of grid according to the characteristic of the STL format files. The program was demonstrated through some examples. The comparison between the conventional finite difference method and the proposed method shows that this program is effective and flexible for generation of boundary-fitted grid in any arbitrary 2-D complex domain, and the grid is in accordance with the variety of boundary curvature finely. The program also provides two types of boundary-fitted grids for double-connected region, O-type and C-type. The limitation of the step-like boundary with the rectangle grid could be avoided effectively. Therefore, the computational accuracy and efficiency would be improved and the computational time would be saved significantly by the application of boundary-fitted grids.
