Five hundred ppm Pd/CeO2 catalyst was prepared and evaluated in selective hydrogenation of acetylene in large excess of ethylene since ceria has been recently found to be a reasonable stand-alone catalyst for this ***/CeO2 catalyst could be activated in situ by the feed gas during reactions and the catalyst without reduction showed much better ethylene selectivity than the reduced one in the high temperature range due to the formation of oxygen vacancies by *** ethylene selectivity of〜100%was obtained in the whole reaction temperature range of 50℃-200℃ for samples calcined at temperatures of 600℃ and 800℃.This could be ascribed to the formation of PdX-Ce1-xO2-y or Pd-O-Ce surface species based on the X-ray diffiaction and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy results,indicating the strong interaction between palladium and ceria.

Ru-based catalysts promoted with Mn and Zn were prepared by a co-precipitation method. In liquid-phase hydrogenation of benzene, the Ru-Mn-Zn catalysts exhibited superior catalytic performance to the catalysts promoted with Zn or Mn alone. The optimum Mn/Zn molar ratio was determined to be 0.3. With the addition of 0.5 g NaOH, the Ru-Mn-Zn-0.3 catalyst, which was reduced at 150 ？ C, afforded a cyclohexene selectivity of 81.1% at a benzene conversion of 60.2% at 5 min and a maximum cyclohexene yield of 59.9% at 20 min. Based on characterizations, the excellent performance of Ru-Mn-Zn catalyst was ascribed to the suitable pore structure, the appropriate reducibility and the homogenous chemical environment of the catalyst.

selective hydrogenation over earth-abundant metal catalysts is challenging but particularly valuable for practical applications in heterogeneous ***,we demonstrate that the catalytic selectivity of the commercial Raney nickel catalyst can be greatly tuned by modulation of the nickel surface by *** quinoline hydrogenation as a model,we show that the silica-modified Raney nickel catalysts exhibit good activity,excellent selectivity,and long stability,whereas the undesired over-hydrogenation reactions are effectively *** contrast,the pristine Raney nickel catalyst shows inferior selectivity for the targeted *** studies confirm a positive role of silica to facilitate the desorption of 1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinoline from the catalyst surface,thus enhancing the product selectivity.

Alloy nanoparticles(NPs)with numerous exposed catalytic active sites have been extensively studied as efficient heterogeneous ***,it is challenging to synthesize alloy NP catalysts with high activity while avoiding ***,we report a facile method to encapsulate alloy NPs loaded metal–organic framework(MOF)catalysts(alloy NPs/MOFs)within an ultrathin metal–organic layer using a terephthalic acid(BDC)assisted method.A series of metal-BDC encapsulated PtM/MOFs(M=Fe,Co,and Ni)catalysts were synthesized successfully and showed significantly enhanced catalytic performance toward selective hydrogenation reaction.

The selective hydrogenation of alkynes to their corresponding alkenes is an important type of organic transformation,which is currently accomplished by modified palladium ***,we report that coordinatively unsaturated Ni(II)sites confined in faujasite zeolite,that is,Ni@Y,can efficiently catalyze the selective hydrogenation of various alkynes in both gas-and liquid *** and kinetic analyses explicitly reveal that alkyne hydrogenation over Ni@Y follows the homogeneous associative mechanism instead of the classic heterogeneous Horiuti–Polanyi *** functional theory calculations confirm that the preferential adsorption of alkynes on coordinatively unsaturated Ni(II)sites is crucial to initiate dihydrogen activation for the subsequent ***@Y represents a true heterogeneous catalyst acting as a homogeneous catalyst and shares the advantages of both heterogeneous and homogeneous *** findings may shed light on the rational design of robust catalysts and new catalytic routes by linking heterogeneous and homogeneous catalysis.

Polymer-stabilized platinum/ruthenium bimetallic colloids （Pt/Ru） were synthesized by polyol reduction with microwave irradiation and characterized by TEM and XPS. The colloidal nanoparticles have small and narrow size distributions. Catalytic performance of the Pt/Ru colloidal catalysts was investigated on the selective hydrogenation of crontonaldehyde （CRAL）. A suitable amount of the added metal ions and base can improve the selectivity of CRAL to crotylalcohol （CROL） remarkably. The catalytic activity and the selectivity are dependent on the compositions of bimetallic colloids. Thereinto, PVP-stabilized 9Pt/1Ru colloid with a molar ratio of metals Pt：Ru = 9：1 shows the highest catalytic selectivity 77.3% to CROL at 333 K under 4.0 MPa of hydrogen.

A Pt/γ-Al2O3-C heterogeneous catalyst with improved catalytic performance was successfully prepared. Bayberry talmin（BT）, an abundant natural plant polyphenol, was utilized to modifiy the surface of the Pt/γ-Al2O3 matrix and then stabilize Pt nanoparticles（NPs）. The catalyst was systematically and specifically characterized by a collec- tion of analytic tools including XRD, XPS, FTIR, TEM, and TG. It was found that the Pt NPs were envenly dispered on the γ-Al2O3-C matrix. Meanwhile, when the catalyst was applied for selective hydrogenation of cilmamalde- hyde（CMA） in the presence of KOH promoter in solvent, excellent catalytic performance was obtained. The selecti- vity to cinnamyl alcohol（CMO） reached 97.88% with 88.45% CMA conversion within 30 min in the presence of 0.037 mol/L KOH, without significant loss of catalytic activity even under cyclic measurements for 5 times. The excelleut catalytic performances should be ascribed predominantly to the uniform and stable dispersion ofPt NPs on the γ-Al2O3-C matrix and the excellent heat stability of BT.

A supported Pt/Al2O3 catalyst was prepared by immobilizing preformed colloidal Pt nanoparticles on Al2O3. The particle size and size distribution of Pt particles on Al2O3 remained the same as the colloidal nanoparticles. selective hydrogenation of o-chloronitrobenzene to ochloroaniline was performed on the as-prepared Pt/Al2O3 nanocatalyst without using any solvent and 88.5% selectivity to o-chloroaniline at98.2% conversion of o-chloronitrobenzene was achieved. Further catalytic experiments with metal cation modification showed that some metal cations could improve the activity in various degrees while maintaining the high selectivity. Especially, 99.8% selectivity to o-chloroaniline at 100% conversion was attained with Sn4+.
