Cemented and mechanically clamped types of end fittings(fitting-C and fitting-M)are commonly used in transformer *** the Luding Ms 6.8 earthquake that occurred in China on September 5,2022,all transformer bushings with the two types of end fittings in a 500 kV substation were ***-earthquake field investigations were conducted,and the failures of the two types of bushings were *** elementary simulation models of the transformer-bushing systems were developed to simulate the engineering failures,and further compute their seismic responses for *** results indicate that the hitch lugs of the connection flange are structurally harmful to seismic ***-M can decrease the bending stiffness of the bushing due to the flexible sealing rubber *** it provides a more flexible connection that dissipates energy,the peak accelerations and relative displacements at the top of the bushing are significantly lower than those of the bushing with *** with fitting-C,fitting-M transfers the high-stress areas from the connection flange to the root of the porcelain,so the latter becomes the most vulnerable ***-M increases the failure risk of the low-strength porcelain,indicating the unsuitability of applying it in high-intensity fortification regions.

To understand the characteristics of seismic response at liquefied sites, a liquefiable site and a non-liquefiable site were selected, separated by about 500 m and having the same site conditions as Class D in the National Earthquake Hazards Reduction Program （NEHRP）. A suite of earthquake records on rock sites are selected and scaled to the spectrum of the Joyner, Boore, and Fumal （JBF） attenuation model for a magnitude 7.5 earthquake at a distance of 50 km. The scaled records were then used to excite the two sites. The effect of pore-water pressure was investigated using the effective stress analysis method, and nonlinear soil behavior was modeled by a soil bounding surface model. Comparisons for spectra, peak ground acceleration （PGA）, peak ground displacement （PGD） and permanent displacement were performed. Results show that the mean ground response spectrum at the non-liquefied site is close to the estimated ground response spectrum from the JBF model, but the mean ground response spectrum at the liquefied site is much lower than the estimated ground response spectrum from the JBF model for periods of up to 1.3 s. The mean PGA at the non-liquefied site is about 1.6-1.7 times as large as that at the liquefied site, but the mean peak ground displacement （PGD） at the non-liquefied site has a slight difference with that at the liquefied site. The mean permanent displacements at the liquefied site are larger than those at the non-liquefied site, particularly at the liquefied layer.

To achieve rational and precise seismic response predictions of large span spatial structures(LSSSs),the inherent non-uniformity and multidimensionality characteristics of earthquake ground motions should be properly taken into ***,due to the limitations of available earthquake stations to record seismic rotational components,the effects of rocking and torsional earthquake components are commonly neglected in the seismic analyses of *** this study,a newly developed method to extract the rocking and torsion components at any point along the area of a deployed dense array from the translational earthquake recordings is applied to obtain the rotational seismic inputs for a *** numerical model of an actual LSSS,the Dalian International Conference Center(DICC),is developed to study the influences of multi-support and multidimensional excitations on the seismic responses of *** numerical results reveal that the non-uniformity and multidimensionality of ground motion input can considerably affect the dynamic response of the *** specific degree of influence on the overall and local structural displacements,deformations and forces are comprehensively investigated and discussed.

This study investigates the seismic response and failure mode of a pile-structure system in a liquefiable site by employing a numerical simulation model combined with the shaking-table results of a soil-pile-structure dynamic *** pile and soil responses obtained from the numerical simulations agreed well with the experimental *** slopes of the dynamic shear-stress-shear-strain hysteretic curves at different positions also exhibited a decreasing trend,indicating that the shear strength of the soil in all parts of the foundation *** peak acceleration of the soil and pile was not clearly amplified in the saturated sand layer but appeared to be amplified in the top *** maximum bending moments appeared in the middle and lower parts of the pile shaft;however,the shear forces at the corresponding positions were not *** can be observed from the deformation mode of the pile-group foundation that a typical bending failure is caused by an excessive bending moment in the middle of the pile shaft if the link between the pile top and cap is articulated,and sufficient attention should be paid to the bending failure in the middle of the pile shaft.

The three dimensional lead rubber dish spring bearing (3DB) is proposed in this paper. The 3DB is composed of lead rubber bearing (LRB) and dish spring bearing (DSB) with damper in series. The 3DB put forward in this paper is effective in the resolution of difficulties in strong vertical capacity and vertical damping of three dimensional isolation bearings. It effectively suppresses rocking motions as well. The analytical model and motion equations of multi dimensional seismic responses of 3D base isolated frame structures are established. Taking a five storey frame structure as an example, an extensive simulation analysis is carried out. The results show that the 3D base isolated structure with the proposed 3DB is effective in 3D isolation; it can reduce seismic responses by 50 % compared to a non isolated structure. Therefore, the 3D isolation problem in building can be solved easily and effectively with the 3DB proposed in this paper.

The development of offshore wind energy is fast as it is clean, safe and of high efficiency. The harsh marine environment raises high demand on the foundation design of offshore wind turbine. Earthquake loading is one of the most significant factors which should be considered in the design phase. In this paper, a group of earthquake centrifuge tests were conducted on a physical wind turbine model with tripod foundation. The seismic responses of both wind turbine model and foundation soil were analyzed in terms of the recorded accelerations, pore water pressures, lateral displacements and settlements. The results were also compared with those measured in the previous research on mono-pile foundation. It is demonstrated that the tripod foundation can provide better resistance in the lateral displacement and structural settlement under earthquake loading.

The development of offshore wind energy becomes very fast in recent years due to its clean, safe, and high efficiency. However, the issue that quite a few offshore wind farms have been built in seismic active areas raises a great engineering challenge for the selection, design, and seismic evaluation of offshore wind turbine foundations. Earthquake is one of the most critical hazards for offshore wind turbines. The softening of soil due to pore water pressure buildup can sharply reduce the bearing capacity of the foundation, and consequently result in stability failure. The induced strong structural vibration has adverse impact on the normal operation of wind turbine as well as on the efficiency of power generation. In this study, a group of earthquake centrifuge tests was performed on a physical model of a wind turbine with gravity foundation. The seismic behavior of both the structure and the foundation soil was analyzed based on the recorded accelerations, pore water pressures, lateral displacements and settlements. The emphasis was on the interaction between foundation and soil. The results showed that gravity foundation can effectively resist the overturning moment induced by the superstructure. However, it was quite sensitive to the subsoil conditions. The large settlement and tilt in the offshore foundation might affect the performance of a wind turbine.
