This paper investigates the impact of a secondary market, where retailers can buy and sell excess inventories, on the supply chain. We develop a two-period model with a single manufacturer and two retailers. At the beginning of the first period the retailers order and receive products from the manufacturer, but at the beginning of the second period, they can trade surplus products between themselves in the secondary market. We investigate the impact of the correlated dependence of retailers' demand on both the quantity effect and the allocation effect under the secondary market. Lastly, we study potential strategies for the manufacturer to increase sales with the existence of the secondary market.

A Study on the Development of the Secondary Markets of GSSL

A complete GSSL (government-subsidized student’s loan) market should be an orderly and open market system, which is consisting of the primary market and secondary markets. The primary market is the one that promotes GSSL to create a borrow-or-lend relationship, while the secondary market is the one that promotes GSSL creditors’ right transformation. In this article, the author considers that it is not only necessary to develop the secondary markets of the GSSL and has necessary conditions, and there are many manners of running for us to choose in China today. Sure enough, good security system should be built if the development of secondary markets of GSSL is going to be carried out in our country.
