Objsective: Glycyrrhizia uralensis, one of the most widely-used traditional Chinese medicines, is mainly cropped in China. However, many cultivars are less in glycyrrhizic acid than Chinese Pharmacopoeia requires. In this paper, we improved glycyrrhizic acid by regulating β-amyrin synthase gene(GuBAS).Methods: Tobacco root-specific promoter TobRB7 and Gu BAS c DNA were obtained and combined with linearized pCAMBIA1305.1 to construct root-specific plant expression vector which was later transformed into Agrobacterium rhizogenes ACCC10060 by electrotransformation. The cotyledons and hypocotyls of *** were infected by the recombinant A. rhizogenes ACCC10060 to induce hairy roots. The GA content was quantified by ***: The PCR and sequencing results both showed that three transgenic hairy root lines were obtained. The copy number of Gu BAS in these transgenic hairy roots was intended by q RT-PCR to be 3, 7,and 4. GA was detected by HPLC, and the results showed that GA was present in the three transgenic hairy roots, while absent in wild hairy ***: Over-expressing Gu BAS root-specifically in hairy roots of G. uralensis enhanced GA accumulation.

This paper considers three algorithms for the extraction of square roots of complex integers {called Gaussians} using arithmetic based on complex modulus p + iq. These algorithms are almost twice as fast as the analogous algorithms extracting square roots of either real or complex integers in arithmetic based on modulus p, where is a real prime. A cryptographic system based on these algorithms is provided in this paper. A procedure reducing the computational complexity is described as well. Main results are explained in several numeric illustrations.

To provide enough space to carry all surface charges responsible for high cation exchange capacity of plant roots, large area of the root specific surface is necessary, however all experimental methods used up to date give too small surface area values. In this paper, we propose to measure the plant roots surface area using water vapor adsorption isotherm. This method gives roots specific surface areas compatible to CEC. Methodical aspects of the measurements are described along with theoretical background for calculating specific surface area on the example of roots of barley grown in nutrient solution.

Oxidative stress adaptation is critical for plants in response to various stress *** alkaligrass(Puccinellia tenuiflora) is an outstanding pasture with strong tolerance to salt and alkali *** this study,iTRAQ-and 2 DE-based proteomics approaches,as well as qRT-PCR and molecular genetics were employed to investigate HO-responsive mechanisms in alkaligrass *** evaluation of membrane integrity and reactive oxygen species(ROS) scavenging systems,as well as abundance patterns of HO-responsive proteins/genes indicated that Ca2+-mediated kinase signaling pathways,ROS homeostasis,osmotic modulation,as well as transcriptional regulation were pivotal to oxidative adaptation in alkaligrass *** G proteins and calcium-binding proteins,as well as protein kinases and phosphatases were modulated by HO in alkaligrass roots,indicating Ca signalingmediated kinase cascade is crucial for HO *** ROS scavenging pathways were employed to cope with certain HO *** remarkably induced transcripts,increased protein abundances,and activities of MDHAR and DHAR,accompanied with stable AsA content under HO treatment implied that AsA homeostasis was important for directly reducing HO in alkaligrass *** homeostasis is enhanced,and HO-responsive gene expression and protein fate were regulated in alkaligrass roots to cope with ***,our results showed that apoplastic *** germin like protein(PutGLP) was preferentially expressed in alkaligrass roots,and obviously induced when seedlings were exposed to saline-alkali and cadmium *** PutGLP in Arabidopsis promoted the root growth,and enhanced the activities of SOD and OXO for maintaining the ROS(O·-and HO) homeostasis to cope with NaCl,NaHCO,and CdCl ***,as well as two of PutGLP homologs in Arabidopsis GLP subfamily 2,were all involved in root growth and *** data indicate that members of GLP subfamily 2 were crucial for root d

This paper proposes using recursive rootmoment method (RRMM) based on feedforward neuralnetworks (FNN) trained by constrained learningalgorithm (CLA) to find the roots of polynomials,which is of fewer computational complexity than theroot moment method (RMM) and the method using therelations between the roots and the coefficients (RRC)of polynomials. As a result, the RRMM is of fastertraining speed and higher accuracy than the latter twomethods. The experimental results verify our claims.

Decomposition of Cellulose, Roots and Litter in Alpine Meado...

＜正＞This study on decomposition of cellulose, roots, feces and litter in alpine meadow soil was carried out at the Haibei Research Station during 1984-1993. The decomposition rate was assessed by using litterbags of different mesh sizes. Changes in the numbers of cellulose decomposing microorganisms were also estimated by using Hutchison medium plates. Four different sample sites and two sample-burring soil depth were selected. Samples were retrieved at regular intervals, and the weightlessness of samples was measured, soil samples were collected from four vegetation types. The experimental results are shown as follows: 1) The cellulose decomposition rate and the numbers of cellulose-decomposing microorganisms paralleled the seasonal fluctuations of the abiotic parameters （e.g. soil temperature, soil water content etc.）. The maximum value of the cellulose decomposition rate and the numbers of cellulose-decomposing microorganisms were measured in the period of July and August. The cellulose decomposition rate was correlated with the soil temperature. 2) Because water increased the infection rate initially, the decomposition rate of wet buried cellulose was obviously higher than that of dry buried. 3) The decomposition rate of cellulose in the non-grazed pasture plot was obviously higher than that in the grazed pasture plot. 4) The decomposition rate of Kobresia humilis roots and litter did not differ significantly between the natural and the artificial cultivated pasture. 5) The decomposition rate of animal feces was very low compared to those of litter, roots and cellulose. 6) The numbers of cellulose-decomposing microorganisms in the soil of four vegetation types were in the order of Elymus nutans meadow ＞ Potentilla fruticosa shrub ＞ Kobresia humilis meadow ＞ degraded Kobresia humilis meadow.
