roll-stamping technology,a new process with both roll-forming and stamping characteristics,is suitable for manufacturing ultra-high-strength beam parts,especially variable cross-section beam parts.The rib groove is a local shape often used in automotive parts for positioning,avoidance,and stiffness strengthening on longitudinal and stiffening beams.In this study,two typical rib grooves,the flat-and round-bottom rib grooves,were selected to investigate the characteristics of the roll-stamping process of rib grooves.Using the ABAQUS software platform,a simulation analysis model of rib-groove roll stamping was established and different size rib grooves produced by the roll-stamping process were compared and analyzed.The results show that when the fillet radius of the rib groove increases,the maximum Mises stress,the maximum strain,and the maximum thinning rate decrease.For roll stamping,the minimum safe fillet radii of the two types of rib grooves are 8 and 4 mm,respectively.

Waves of finite amplitude on a thin layer of non-Newtonian fluid modelled as a power-law fluid are considered. In the long wave approximation, the system of equations taking into account the viscous and nonlinear effects has the hyper- bolic type. For the two-parameter family of periodic waves in the film flow on a vertical wall the modulation equations for nonlinear wave trains are derived and investigated. The stability criterium for roll waves based on the hyperbolicity of the modulation equations is suggested. It is shown that the evolution of stable roll waves can be described by self-similar solutions of the modulation equations.

rolling torque for a seventeen passes, 125 x 125 mm HC SS316 billets rolled to a 16 mm diameter rod have been simulated. Torque calculations based on pressure exerted by the metal on the rolls and the area of contact during longitudinal rolling were obtained using the temperature values derived using the “Phantom roll” method. Investigations were carried out for four different starting mean rolling temperatures between 988℃ and 1191℃ and at four different strain rates of 0.4s-1, 0.8s-1, 1.2 s-1 and 1.6s-1. Results obtained showed that for all cases, rolling in grooved rolls required higher torque compared to rolling in flat rolls. In general, it was observed that torque value increased as starting temperature decreases and for each set of starting temperatures, the torque value increases with temperature. In all cases, the torque values for grooved rolls were higher than those for flat rolls. This was due to the higher frictional effect, occasioned by the larger contact area between roll and stock. Results obtained also revealed an inverse relationship between strain rate and torque.

In this paper, wave-body interactions under the effects of complex topography are investigated numerically by a two-phase incompressible Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes(RANS) solver in OpenFOAM. A submerged bottom-standing structure is distributed below the floating body, and the effects of the water depth and top width of the submerged structure on wave-body interactions are studied. The results show that the submerged structure can affect wave loads and roll motion. The vertical force can be amplified on the fixed body when the water depth of the submerged structure is smaller than half of the water depth of the body. The top width significantly affects the vertical force when the top width is smaller than the incident wave length and larger than the body width. For the free-rolling body, roll amplitude can be increased when the ratio of the incident wave length to the water depth of the submerged structure is large enough. On the resonance condition, roll amplitude is slightly reduced by the submerged structure. The effects of the top width on roll amplitude are remarkable when special conditions are fulfilled.

We first of all consider what if the initial inflaton was nearly zero instead of proportional to a Planck mass, in a SUSY type potential. Using the construction of Padmanabhan about general inflaton physics and the conditions of what are usual constituent slow roll requirements for inflation, and also of Kolb, Pi and Raby about a SUSY potential, we come up with the counter intuitive formulation of how usual tests for slow roll give the standard answers even if the inflaton in the SUSY potential as given by Kolb, Pi, and Raby is initially zero. The result gives support to a formulation of VEV conditions used right after a Planck instant of time. As it is, we will from first principles examine what adding acceleration does as to the HUP previously derived. In doing so we will be tying it in our discussion with the earlier work done on the HUP. The HUP results, so modified are appropriate for the Pre-Planckian results and may explain why the slow roll formulation as given by Padmanabhan holds where there is the phenomenon of for Pre-Planckian space-time. This leads to a very paradoxical result that in Pre-Planckian physics the traditional slow roll formulas are satisfied even if . But it also puts in extremely tight restrictions upon the formulation of the degree of freedom problem, as given in Equation (26) in this document.

In rolling mill, the accuracy and quality of the strip exit thickness are very important factors. To realize high accuracy in the strip exit thickness, the Automatic Gauge Control (AGC) system is used. Because of roll eccentricity in backup rolls, the exit thickness deviates periodically. In this paper, we design PI controller in outer loop for the strip exit thickness while PD controller is used in inner loop for the work roll actuator position. Also, in order to reduce the periodic thickness deviation, we propose roll eccentricity compensation by using Fuzzy Neural Network with online tuning. Simulink model for the overall system has been implemented using MATLAB/SIMULINK software. The simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed control.

The High Tension roll Separator (HTRS) is one of the main electrostatic unit operations employed to separate titanium minerals like ilmenite, rutile and leucoxene which behave as conducting from zircon, sillimanite, garnet and monazite which behave as non-conducting minerals when a high potential difference is applied. Three process inputs, namely roll speed, feed material temperature and roll speed have been optimized. Experiments were conducted based on the Box- Behnken factorial design;the results were analyzed using response surface methodology (RSM). A new term, called Operational Quality Index (OQI) has been defined as a process output, which is maximized by quadratic programming, to obtain the optimum operating conditions. The maximum value of OQI obtained under the constraints of grade >96% and recovery >98% is 195.53, at the following operating conditions—Temperature: 102°C, Feed Rate: 1.75 tph and roll Speed: 132 rpm. Under these conditions, the grade and recovery obtained are 96.6% and 98.9% respectively.
