Context-Based Moving Object Trajectory Uncertainty Reduction and Ranking in road network

To support a large amount of GPS data generated from various moving objects, the back-end servers usually store low-sampling-rate trajectories. Therefore, no precise position information can be obtained directly from the back-end servers and uncertainty is an inherent characteristic of the spatio-temporal data. How to deal with the uncertainty thus becomes a basic and challenging problem. A lot of researches have been rigidly conducted on the uncertainty of a moving object itself and isolated from the context where it is derived. However, we discover that the uncertainty of moving objects can be efficiently reduced and effectively ranked using the context-aware information. In this paper, we focus on context- aware information and propose an integrated framework, Context-Based Uncertainty Reduction and Ranking （CURR）, to reduce and rank the uncertainty of trajectories. Specifically, given two consecutive samplings, we aim to infer and rank the possible trajectories in accordance with the information extracted from context. Since some context-aware information can be used to reduce the uncertainty while some context-aware information can be used to rank the uncertainty, to leverage them accordingly, CURR naturally consists of two stages： reduction stage and ranking stage which complement each other. We also implement a prototype system to validate the effectiveness of our solution. Extensive experiments are conducted and the evaluation results demonstrate the efficiency and high accuracy of CURR.

A Spatio-temporal Data Model for road network in Data Center Based on Incremental Updating in Vehicle Navigation System

The technique of incremental updating,which can better guarantee the real-time situation of navigational map,is the developing orientation of navigational road network *** data center of vehicle navigation system is in charge of storing incremental data,and the spatio-temporal data model for storing incremental data does affect the efficiency of the response of the data center to the requirements of incremental data from the vehicle *** to the analysis on the shortcomings of several typical spatio-temporal data models used in the data center and based on the base map with overlay model,the reverse map with overlay model (RMOM) was put forward for the data center to make rapid response to incremental data *** supports the data center to store not only the current complete road network data,but also the overlays of incremental data from the time when each road network changed to the current ***,the storage mechanism and index structure of the incremental data were designed,and the implementation algorithm of RMOM was *** navigational road network in Guangzhou City as an example,the simulation test was conducted to validate the efficiency of *** show that the navigation database in the data center can response to the requirements of incremental data by only one query with RMOM,and costs less *** with the base map with overlay model,the data center does not need to temporarily overlay incremental data with RMOM,so time-consuming of response is significantly *** greatly improves the efficiency of response and provides strong support for the real-time situation of navigational road network.

road network is a critical component of public infrastructure,and the supporting system of social and economic *** on a modified kernel density estimate(KDE)algorithm,this study evaluated the road service capacity provided by a road network composed of multi-level roads(***,provincial,county and rural roads),by taking account of the differences of effect extent and intensity for roads of different *** at town scale,the population burden and the annual rural economic income of unit road service capacity were used as the surrogates of social and economic demands for road *** method was applied to the road network of the Three Parallel River Region,the northwestern Yunnan Province,China to evaluate the development of road network in this *** results,the total road length of this region in 2005 was 3.70×104km,and the length ratio between national,provincial,county and rural roads was 1∶2∶8∶*** 1989 to 2005,the regional road service capacity increased by 13.1%,of which the contributions from the national,provincial,county and rural roads were 11.1%,19.4%,22.6%,and 67.8%,respectively,revealing the effect of′All Village Accessible′policy of road development in the mountainous regions in the last *** spatial patterns of population burden and economic requirement of unit road service suggested that the areas farther away from the national and provincial roads have higher road development priority(RDP).Based on the modified KDE model and the framework of RDP evaluation,this study provided a useful approach for developing an optimal plan of road development at regional scale.

The community’s resilience in the face of natural hazards relies heavily on the rapid and efficient restoration of electric power networks,which plays a critical role in emergency response,economic recovery,and the func-tionality of essential lifeline and social infrastructure *** the recent data revolution,the digital twin(DT)concept emerges as a promising tool to enhance the effectiveness of post-disaster recovery *** paper introduces a novel framework for post-hurricane electric power restoration using a hybrid DT approach that combines physics-based and data-driven models by utilizing a dynamic Bayesian *** capturing the complexities of power system dynamics and incorporating the road network’s influence,the framework offers a comprehensive methodology to guide real-time power restoration efforts in post-disaster scenarios.A discrete event simulation is conducted to demonstrate the proposed framework’s *** study showcases how the electric power restoration DT can be monitored and updated in real-time,reflecting changing conditions and facilitating adaptive ***,it demonstrates the framework’s flexibility to allow decision-makers to prioritize essential,residential,and business facilities and compare different restoration plans and their potential effect on the community.

Object-level roadside perception provides strong support for intelligent and connected vehicles,which can promote the application of automated driving in the coordination system integrating vehicles,road infrastructures and ***,sensors must be deployed properly to satisfy the requirements of detection coverage and deployment *** this paper,an optimization method of road network sensor deployment is proposed that decomposes the optimization problem in a road network into sub-problems on routes between *** actual detection ranges are calculated under the influence of curve road geometry.A dynamic programming(DP) algorithm is proposed to optimize the multi-type sensor set deployment on each route for full detection area coverage and the minimum deployment cost To reduce the overlap of detection areas,a search-based adjustment algorithm is designed based on the proposed DP *** and comparative examples indicate that the proposed method is feasible and effective.

GEPUR： A Method for Managing a road network by and for Local Authorities

France has about one million kilometres of roads, 98% of which are managed by departments （the French Administrative Area Departement） and municipalities. Because of growing social expenditures, these local authorities are reducing credits for roads, which is leading to a reduction in the length of roads serviced annually, and an expected deterioration of roads generally. Faced with this problem, departmental and urban project designers in the eastern region of France have been meeting within the GEPUR （＂Gestion et Entretien du Patrimoine Urbain et Routier＂ or ＂Urban and road Heritage Management and Maintenance＂） group since September 2012, to： firstly, develop a method for road network management and programming of assistance based on the experiences of each participant, a modular method depending on the size of the road network and adapted to the contracting authority; secondly, give technical legitimacy to the managers who will be applying the method. They will be able to more easily set up a constructive dialogue with the elected officials in charge of roads, and better justify the use of the credits requested. Two methodological guides will be published, one intended for departmental networks （2015）, the other for municipal networks in mid-2017. A white paper for elected officials has also been drafted. Ultimately, this experience will be extended throughout France.

Statistical regularity of road network features and ecosystem change in the Longitudinal Range-Gorge Region(LRGR)

As an intrinsic disturbance factor of landscapa,roads are conspicuous artificial *** landscape pattern and change are influenced by the existence and extension of road *** of the relationship between road features and its disturbance level is important for regional ecosystem *** on the spatial variation analysis of road corridor and network features in the LRGR, we examined the effect of road network on landscape pattern change using ***,the regularity between regional ecological disturbance and network features was *** results showe that road density was significantly relative to topography,village number and the ecosystem patch number, and the significance varied greatly with road *** the increase of road density and network ex- tension,α(network circuitry),β(edge-nodes ratio)andγ(network connectivity)indexes ***, total ecosystem patch number,patch density,landscape evenness and fractal index increased while regional minimum patch area,average patch area and contagion index *** result exhibit that low-grede road had greater effect on regional landscape *** used human distur- bence indexes(H)of 1980 and 2000 to indicate the ecological disturbance *** Hindexes have a positive and significant relationship withα,βandγindexes,which suggests the ecological disturbance increased with the network expanding.

Measuring the Structural Vulnerability of road network:A network Effciency Perspective

The purpose of this paper is to identify the critical road sections and intersections in a road network which have great influence on the normal transport functions of the road network and to optimize the road network structure by reducing its vulnerability. In this paper, the framework of road network structural vulnerability measurement and improvement model is proposed. The network efficiency model is used to define road network structural vulnerability. Shanghai freeway network is analyzed based on this model. We find that using this model the critical components of the road network can be identified. Two methods which are increasing connections and rewiring are proposed to optimize the road network structural vulnerability and the results can be used to reduce the network vulnerability. The measurement method that we put forward for structure vulnerability is useful and important to optimize road network structure.

On Efficient Aggregate Nearest Neighbor Query Processing in road networks

An aggregate nearest neighbor （ANN） query returns a point of interest （POI） that minimizes an aggregate function for multiple query points. In this paper, we propose an e？cient approach to tackle ANN queries in road networks. Our approach consists of two phases： searching phase and pruning phase. In particular, we first continuously compute the nearest neighbors （NNs） for each query point in some specific order to obtain the candidate POIs until all query points find a common POI. Second, we filter out the unqualified POIs based on the pruning strategy for a given aggregate function. The two-phase process is repeated until there remains only one candidate POI, and the remained one is returned as the final result. In addition, we discuss the partition strategies for query points and the approximate ANN query for the case where the number of query points is huge. Extensive experiments using real datasets demonstrate that our proposed approach outperforms its competitors significantly in most cases.
