Light-responsive color switching of self-doped TiO_(2-x)/WO_(3)·0.33H_(2)O hetero-nanoparticles for highly efficient rewritable paper

Smart materials that reversibly change color upon light illumination are widely explored for diverse appealing ***,light-responsive color switching materials are mainly limited to organic *** synthesis of inorganic counterparts has remained a significant challenge because of their slow light response and poor ***,we report a seeded growth strategy for the synthesis of TiO_(2-x)/WO_(3)·0.33H_(2)Ohetero-nanoparticles(HNPs)with networked wire-like structure of〜10 nm in diameters that enable the highly reversible light-responsive color switching *** the TiO_(2-x)/WO_(3)·0.33H_(2)OHNPs,T P species self-doped in TiO_(2-x)nanoparticles(NPs)act as efficient sacrificial electron donors(SEDs)and Ti-O-W linkages formed between TiO2-x and WO30.33H2O NPs ensure the nanoscale interfacial contact,endowing the HNPs enhanced photoreductive activity and efficient interfacial charge transfer upon ultraviolet(UV)illumination to achieve highly efficient color *** TiO_(2-x)/WO_(3)·0.33H_(2)OHNPs exhibits rapid light response(180 times).We further demonstrate the applications of TiO_(2-x)/WO_(3)·0.33H_(2)O HNPs in ink-free,light-printable rewritable paper that can be written on freehand or printed on through a photomask using UV *** work opens an avenue for designing inorganic light-responsive color switching nanomaterials and their smart applications.

Information recording on paper has always been the most important approach to keep records of human activity and to spread *** the progress of science and technology,paper with different functions should be exploited to conform to the increasing demands in various *** one aspect,traditional paper can only be used once,and using large amounts of paper causes deforestation,additional solid waste treatment,environmental pollution,and high energy ***,the development of rewritable paper that is environment-friendly,low cost,and can save resources is significant for green *** the other aspect,information leakage brings security issues,which may lead to severe consequences,such as war outbreak,economic loss,social problems,and so ***,the development of security printing has also attracted wide ***-responsive photofunctional materials that have reversible variations in absorption or emission in response to changes in the external environmental have a great potential for the achievement of green and security *** date,much progress has been made in these research *** paper lists different smart materials that respond to various external stimuli,such as light,water,pH,heat,and metal ions,and summarizes the recent advances towards green and security ***,we discuss the current challenges and future directions in this rapidly growing research *** is expected that this review article will stimulate and guide future studies for the advanced green and security printing.
