The covers of booklets and books in folk documents primarily serve to protect the pages.Owing to long-term storage limitations,a considerable number of book covers have suffered varying degrees of damage.Following the principles of restoration,a comparative analysis and restoration of folk document covers were conducted,selecting four different types of carriers from the Taihang Mountain Documents,ranging from the Qing dynasty to the Republican Era.These carriers included hemp,mulberry bark,and machinemade paper,and cotton blue cloth.Each cover type was matched with an appropriate restoration paper,and different methods were employed during the restoration process.Through restoration,the previously damaged document covers can continue to fulfill their role in protecting the books,thereby extending the lifespan of these four folk documents.

Efficient in vivo delivery of anti-inflammatory proteins to modulate the microenvironment of an injured spinal cord and promote neuroprotection and functional recovery is a great challenge.Nucleoside-modified messenger RNA(mRNA)has become a promising new modality that can be utilized for the safe and efficient delivery of therapeutic proteins.Here,we used lipid nanoparticle(LNP)-encapsulated human interleukin-10(hIL-10)-encoding nucleoside-modified mRNA to induce neuroprotection and functional recovery following rat spinal cord contusion injury.Intralesional administration of hIL-10 mRNA-LNP to rats led to a remarkable reduction of the microglia/macrophage reaction in the injured spinal segment and induced significant functional recovery compared to controls.Furthermore,hIL-10 mRNA treatment induced increased expression in tissue inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinase 1 and ciliary neurotrophic factor levels in the affected spinal segment indicating a time-delayed secondary effect of IL-105 d after injection.Our results suggest that treatment with nucleoside-modified mRNAs encoding neuroprotective factors is an effective strategy for spinal cord injury repair.

The current study aims to investigate a suitable adhesive for primary tooth enamel. Shear bond strength(SBS)of primary teeth and the length of resin protrusion were analyzed using one-way ANOVA with Bonferroni multiple comparison tests after etching with 35% H_(3)PO_(4). SBS and marginal microleakage tests were conducted with Single Bond Universal(SBU)/Single Bond 2(SB2) adhesives with or without pre-etching using a nonparametric Kruskal-Wallis test. Clinical investigations were performed to validate the adhesive for primary teeth restoration using Chi-square tests. Results showed that the SBS and length of resin protrusion increased significantly with the etching time. Teeth in the SBU with 35% H_(3)PO_(4)pre-etching groups had higher bond strength and lower marginal microleakage than those in the SB2 groups. Mixed fractures were more common in the 35% H_(3)PO_(4)etched 30 s + SB2/SBU groups. Clinical investigations showed significant differences between the two groups in cumulative retention rates at the 6-, 12-and 18-month follow-up evaluations, as well as in marginal adaptation, discoloration, and secondary caries at the 12-and 18-month follow-up assessments.Together, pre-etching primary teeth enamel for 30 s before SBU treatment improved clinical composite resin restoration, which can provide a suitable approach for restoration of primary teeth.

Aiming at the high-dimensional uncertainties of restoration process, an optimization model for distribution system restoration control is proposed considering expected restoration benefits, expected restoration costs, and security risks of the overall restoration scheme. In the proposed model, the effect of security control on restoration process is actively analyzed considering the security control costs of preventive, emergency, and correction controls. A two-layer decision support framework for distribution system restoration decision support system(DRDSS) is also designed. The upper layer of the proposed framework generates the pre-adjustment schemes of operation mode for energized power grid by load transfer and selects the optimal pre-adjustment scheme and the corresponding partitioning scheme based on the partition adjustment results of each pre-adjustment scheme. In addition, it optimizes the spatial-temporal decision-making of the inter-partition connectivity. For each partition, the lower layer of the proposed framework pre-selects the units and loads to be restored according to the pre-evaluated restoration income, generates the table of alternative restoration scheme for coping with uncertain events through simulation and deduction, and evaluates the risk and benefit of each scheme.For the uncertain events in the actual restoration process, the current restoration scheme can be adaptively switched to a sub-optimal scheme or re-optimized if necessary. Meanwhile, the proposed framework provides an information interaction interface for collaborative restoration with the related transmission system. A 123-node test system is built to evaluate the effectiveness and adaptability of the proposed model and framework.

In recent years, debates on the alarming rate of forest depletion emanating from growth in urban settlement and changed urban land-use patterns have gained prominence across the globe. The present study adopts a demandside management approach to investigate household’s willingness-to-pay for the restoration and maintenance of protected forest reserves in three municipalities in Ghana. Using survey data of 733 households from the Greater Accra Region of Ghana, we model the demand for forest restoration and maintenance, respectively, by means of the contingent valuation technique. As part of the findings, the study shows evidence that a household is willing to pay Gh￠50.99($8.67) and Gh￠31.12($5.29) per annum to restore and maintain the protected forests,respectively. These amounts constitute less than one percent of the average household income per month.Consequently, critical validity tests are conducted to validate the robustness of the results. This study provides willingness-to-pay estimates for forest and forest resources, and its associated determinants. These estimates seek to bridge the information gap and inform policy decisions toward the overarching aim of ensuring sustainable forest management in Ghana.

Robinia pseudoacacia L.(RP)restoration has increased vegetation cover in semi-arid regions on the Loess Plateau of China,but ecological problems have also occurred due to RP restoration,such as reduced soil moisture.Further,it is still uncertain how microbial diversity,composition and assembly processes change with RP restoration in semi-arid regions.Therefore,amplicon sequencing of small subunit ribosomal ribonucleic acid(16S rRNA)and internal transcribed spacer(ITS)genes was performed to study soil bacterial and fungal diversity,composition and assembly processes at four study sites with different stand ages of RP plantations(Y10,RP plantation with stand ages less than 10 a;Y15,RP plantation with stand ages approximately 15 a;Y25,RP plantation with stand ages approximately 25 a;and Y40,RP plantation with stand ages approximately 40 a)along a 40-a chronosequence on the Loess Plateau.The diversity of soil bacteria and fungi increased significantly during the restoration period from 10 to 15 a(Prestoration period between 25 and 40 a.The relative abundances of Proteobacteria and Ascomycota increased during the restoration period from 10 to 15 a.Conversely,after 15 a of restoration,they both decreased,whereas the relative abundances of Actinomycetes,Acidobacteria and Basidiomycota gradually increased.The variations in soil bacterial communities were mainly related to changes in soil total nitrogen,nitrate nitrogen and moisture contents,while soil fungal communities were mainly shaped by soil organic carbon and nitrate nitrogen contents.Bacterial communities were structured by the heterogeneous selection and stochastic process,while fungal communities were structured primarily by the stochastic process.The RP restoration induced an increase in the relative importance of heterogeneous selection on bacterial communities.Overall,this study reveals the changes in microbial diversity,community comp

In the context of high compression rates applied to Joint Photographic Experts Group(JPEG)images through lossy compression techniques,image-blocking artifacts may manifest.This necessitates the restoration of the image to its original quality.The challenge lies in regenerating significantly compressed images into a state in which these become identifiable.Therefore,this study focuses on the restoration of JPEG images subjected to substantial degradation caused by maximum lossy compression using Generative Adversarial Networks(GAN).The generator in this network is based on theU-Net architecture.It features a newhourglass structure that preserves the characteristics of the deep layers.In addition,the network incorporates two loss functions to generate natural and high-quality images:Low Frequency(LF)loss and High Frequency(HF)loss.HF loss uses a pretrained VGG-16 network and is configured using a specific layer that best represents features.This can enhance the performance in the high-frequency region.In contrast,LF loss is used to handle the low-frequency region.The two loss functions facilitate the generation of images by the generator,which can mislead the discriminator while accurately generating high-and low-frequency regions.Consequently,by removing the blocking effects frommaximum lossy compressed images,images inwhich identities could be recognized are generated.This study represents a significant improvement over previous research in terms of the image resolution performance.
