To solve the problem that the conventional detection technique of alpha radiation sources is unable to achieve remote detection and not suitable for detecting alpha radiation sources with complex morphology,remote detection of alpha radiation sources by measuring the fluorescence induced by the interaction between alpha particles and nitrogen molecules is investigated in this paper.In dark conditions,nitrogen fluorescence is collected by the optical system with an aperture of 50 mm and detected by a photomultiplier tube working in the photon counting mode.The alpha radiation source with total activity of 7.3 k Bq and unit area activity of 49 Bq/cm^(2) can be detected within 30 s at a distance of 0.6 m.The detection limit of the alpha radiation source detection system proposed in this paper ranks among the top in the related research fields.

The development of unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)remote sensing has been increasingly applied in forestry for high-throughput and rapid acquisition of tree phenomics traits for various research areas.However,the detection of individual trees and the extraction of their spectral data remain a challenge,often requiring manual annotation.Although several software-based solutions have been developed,they are far from being widely adopted.This paper presents ExtSpecR,an open-source tool for spectral extraction of a single tree in forestry with an easy-to-use interactive web application.ExtSpecR reduces the time required for single tree detection and annotation and simplifies the entire process of spectral and spatial feature extraction from UAV-based imagery.In addition,ExtSpecR provides several functionalities with interactive dashboards that allow users to maximize the quality of information extracted from UAV data.ExtSpecR can promote the practical use of UAV remote sensing data among forest ecology and tree breeding researchers and help them to further understand the relationships between tree growth and its physiological traits.

Energy resources are critical for human existence.The energy that we use is obtained from the Earth,its atmosphere,or the Sun.Some of these energy resources we obtain from the subsurface through the mining or extraction process,like gas,coal,oil,geothermal,and uranium.Furthermore,we also harness from the surface like wind,solar,and tidal.Geoscientists and geological engineers play a critical role in developing energy resources,maintaining its operation,and evaluating their environmental impacts.In recent years,the advancement in satellite and aerial remote sensing is a tool that is widely used by geoscientists and engineers to address various aspects of energy resources.The application of remote sensing to energy resources,starting from reconnaissance to detailed studies,utilizing multispectral to hyperspectral and radar to LiDAR techniques,have gained significant importance.Some remote sensing applications include identifying potential source of fuels used in the energy.

remote ischaemic conditioning(RIC)refers to a process whereby periods of intermittent ischaemia,typically via the cyclical application of a blood pressure cuff to a limb at above systolic pressure,confers systemic protection against ischaemia in spatially distinct vascular territories.The mechanisms underlying this have not been characterised fully but have been shown to involve neural,hormonal and systemic inflammatory signalling cascades.Preclinical and early clinical studies have been promising and suggest beneficial effects of RIC in acute ischaemic stroke,symptomatic intracranial stenosis and vascular cognitive impairment.Through systematic searches of several clinical trials databases we identified 48 active clinical trials of RIC in ischaemic stroke,intracerebral haemorrhage and subarachnoid haemorrhage.We summarise the different RIC protocols and outcome measures studied in ongoing clinical trials and highlight which studies are most likely to elucidate the underlying biological mechanisms of RIC and characterise its efficacy in the near future.We discuss the uncertainties of RIC including the optimal frequency and duration of therapy,target patient groups,cost-effectiveness,the confounding impact of medications and the absence of a clinically meaningful biomarker of the conditioning response.With several large clinical trials of RIC expected to report their outcomes within the next 2 years,this review aims to highlight the most important studies and unanswered questions that will need to be addressed before this potentially widely accessible and low-cost intervention can be used in clinical practice.

remote photoplethysmography （rPPG） allows remote measurement of the heart rate using low-cost RGB imaging equipment. In this study, we review the development of the field of rPPG since its emergence in 2008. We also classify existing rPPG approaches and derive a framework that provides an overview of modular steps. Based on this framework, practitioners can use our classification to design algorithms for an rPPG approach that suits their specific needs. Researchers can use the reviewed and classified algorithms as a starting point to improve particular features of an rPPG algorithm.

The shortage of personal protective equipment and lack of proper nursing training have been endangering health care workers dealing with coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19).In our treatment center,the implementation of a holistic care model of time-sharing management for severe and critical COVID-19 patients has further aggravated the shortage of intensive care unit(ICU)professional nurses.Therefore,we developed a short-term specialized and targeted nursing training program to help ICU nurses to cope with stress and become more efficient,thus reducing the number of nurses required in the ICU.In order to avoid possible human-to-human spread,small teaching classes and remote training were applied.The procedural training mode included four steps:preparation,plan,implementation,and evaluation.An evaluation was conducted throughout the process of nursing training.In this study,we documented and shared experiences in transitioning from traditional face-to-face programs to remote combined with proceduralization nursing training mode from our daily work experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic,which has shown to be helpful for nurses working in the ICU.

Stroke is the leading cause of disability and death in North America.There has been growing interest in identifying neuroprotective strategies to reduce ischemic burden in patients with acute ischemic stroke.However,despite extensive clinical trials,no neuroprotective agent has been found for prevention of ischemic damage.remote ischemic preconditioning(RIC)is a promising non-invasive strategy that has been proven to provide renal and cardioprotection and has recently found to have a potential broad application in the treatment of neurovascular disease,which has bee linked to its possible effects on the release and activation of endogenous neuroprotective substances against the ischemia/reperfusion injuries in experimental studies.This endogenous neuroprotection might vaccinate neural tissues against effects of acute IR following primary infarction insult.Regardless of the method of RIC administration,through manual or automated blood pressure cuff,RIC procedure is inexpensive and easy to use.Based on the experimental and clinical data,application of RIC avoids possible adverse effects and interactions associated with chemical pharmacological agents.In previous clinical studies RIC was safe and associated with only minor transient adverse effects in few cases,including petechia and minor limb pain,which were mostly resolved shortly after completing the treatment.
