Contribution and relevance of Transfontanellar Ultrasound in Newborns in Ouagadougou: Multicentre Study on 1000 Cases

Objectives: To demonstrate the contribution and relevance of ETFs through the study of 1000 examination reports carried out in the medical imaging departments of the OUAGADOUGOU CHU. Material and method: Analytical descriptive study with retrospective collection, extended from 1st January 2020 to 1st January 2022. Results: Of the 1000 transfontanellar ultrasound reports, the mean age of patients was 7.61 +/ 7.5 days, with extremes of zero and 28 days. Sex was specified in 989 cases. Males accounted for 54.49% and females for 45.51%. 555 transfontanellar ultrasound were performed in 2020. 441 in 2021 and 4 in 2022. 61.9% of transfontanellar ultrasound were performed at the Bogodogo University Hospital, 205 at Charles de Gaulle and 176 at Tengandogo. Indications for transfontanellar ultrasound were dominated by neonatal distress (65.8%), followed by convulsions (10.2%) and prematurity (9.1%). Transfontanellar ultrasound was normal in 570 cases (57%) and abnormal in 430 cases (43%). Abnormalities were dominated by haemorrhage and ischaemic lesions in 66.28% (285) and 21.63% (93) of cases respectively. In the group of normal transfontanellar ultrasound, neonatal distress represented 59.65% of indications and prematurity 10.7% of indications. As for abnormal transfontanellar ultrasound, neonatal suffering accounted for 73.95% of indications and convulsions for 12.56%. The average age ofpatients with an abnormal transfontanellar ultrasound was 8.74 days +/ 7.89 days. The indication for investigations was relevant in 42.2% of cases and irrelevant in 57.8%;of the transfontanellar ultrasound with relevant indications, 0.71 were normal and 99.29 abnormal;of the transfontanellar ultrasound with irrelevant indications, the transfontanellar ultrasound was normal in 98.1% and abnormal in 1.9%. relevance of early intervention in Fahr's disease: understanding through a case study

SUMMARY Intracranial calcification may result from disturbances in calcium metabolism. It often remains asymptomatic, but may present with symptoms like seizure and neurological deficits. Correction of the underlying metabolic disturbance before damage of neuronal tissues due to intracranial calcification may be useful in preventing irreversible neurological deficits. This window period may be the crucial period that needs a thorough clinical evaluation and urgent intervention. We highlight the case of an adult woman with Fahr's disease presented with generalised tonic-clonic seizure. The management priorities were also discussed along with review of literature.

Double Pruning Structure Design for Deep Stochastic Configuration Networks Based on Mutual Information and relevance

Deep stochastic configuration networks(DSCNs)produce redundant hidden nodes and connections during training,which complicates their model *** at the above problems,this paper proposes a double pruning structure design algorithm for DSCNs based on mutual information and *** the training process,the mutual information algorithm is used to calculate and sort the importance scores of the nodes in each hidden layer in a layer-by-layer manner,the node pruning rate of each layer is set according to the depth of the DSCN at the current time,the nodes that contribute little to the model are deleted,and the network-related parameters are *** the model completes the configuration procedure,the correlation evaluation strategy is used to sort the global connection weights and delete insignificance connections;then,the network parameters are updated after pruning is *** experimental results show that the proposed structure design method can effectively compress the scale of a DSCN model and improve its modeling speed;the model accuracy loss is small,and fine-tuning for accuracy restoration is not *** obtained DSCN model has certain application value in the field of regression analysis.

Fault Detection and Recovery for Full Range of Hydrogen Sensor Based on relevance Vector Machine

In order to improve the reliability of hydrogen sensor,a novel strategy for full range of hydrogen sensor fault detection and recovery is proposed in this paper. Three kinds of sensors are integrated to realize the measurement for full range of hydrogen concentration based on relevance vector machine( RVM). Failure detection of hydrogen sensor is carried out by using the variance detection method. When a sensor fault is detected,the other fault-free sensors can recover the fault data in real-time by using RVM predictor accounting for the relevance of sensor data. Analysis,together with both simulated and experimental results,a full-range hydrogen detection and hydrogen sensor self-validating experiment is presented to demonstrate that the proposed strategy is superior at accuracy and runtime compared with the conventional methods. Results show that the proposed methodology provides a better solution to the full range of hydrogen detection and the reliability improvement of hydrogen sensor.

Feature Selection via Analysis of relevance and Redundancy

Feature selection is an important problem in pattern classification systems. High dimension fisher criterion（HDF） is a good indicator of class separability. However, calculating the high dimension fisher ratio is difficult. A new feature selection method, called fisher-and-correlation （FC）, is proposed. The proposed method is combining fisher criterion and correlation criterion based on the analysis of feature relevance and redundancy. The proposed methodology is tested in five different classification applications. The presented resuits confirm that FC performs as well as HDF does at much lower computational complexity.

Medical implication in the Bible and its relevance to modern medicine

The Ho/y Bibe, as the root of Western civilization, has imposed great influence in the fields far beyond religion. In this thesis, the author intended to reveal the medical implication in the Ho/y Bib/e and its relevance to the modern medical science by exploring the biblical medical information and comparing it with the current medical theory and practice. The conclusion of the exploration is surprising yet inspiring： the Ho/y Bibe, as an ancient religious book, contains rich medical information around themes such as sexual relations, dietary guidelines, hygiene, etc., which is not at odds, but in harmony with the modern medicine.

This study examines the contributions of Chinese entrepreneurship research to academic knowledge and its practical implications. Specifically, we investigate how Chinese entrepreneurship research meets the standards of rigor and relevance based on a review of 64 papers published in five major scholarly journals in the Chinese mainland. Results show that Chinese entrepreneurship research has paid comparatively little attention to the ＂rigor＂ dimension, while focusing more heavily on practical relevance than on academic relevance on the ＂relevance＂ dimension. Future directions for China＇s entrepreneurship research are also discussed.

Value relevance of proportionate consolidation versus the equity method: Evidence from Hong Kong

Whether proportionate consolidation(PC) or the equity method(EM) provides more informative financial statements is a controversial issue. This study uses data from listed companies in Hong Kong to investigate the value relevance of the EM compared with PC during 2005–2008 when the local wordfor-word equivalent HKAS 31 offered the same options. The results of this study provide evidence that PC does not offer higher value relevance than the EM. PC's horizontal aggregation of a portion of the operations, assets and liabilities of the jointly controlled entities with those of the venturer is less informative to investors than the EM's vertical aggregation.

Chest investigation is common in hospital practice. Chest X-ray is readily available and usually the first chest investigation. Thoracic CT scan constitutes an alternative and complimentary chest investigation. It is currently the most efficient investigation for the chest and its contents. Objectives: To evaluate the relevance of chest CT Scan requests in two university teaching hospitals in Cameroon. Material and Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional, retrospective and descriptive study at the Radiology and imaging units of the Yaounde Central Hospital and the Yaounde University Teaching Hospital Centre. Included in our study were files of patients who had a chest CT scan investigation during three years. Results: We had a study population of 323 subjects. The age interval was 23 months to 91 years old. Pulmonologist were the most prescribers with 27.2%. We had 80% conformity of indications with French Society of Radiology (FSR) standards. 50 over of 323 indications were not recommended by the FSR. Conclusion: There is a conformity rate of 80% between indications and the FSR recommendations.
