STUDY ON THE INITIATION AND PROPAGATION OF reheat CRACK

The stress-relaxation test and slow tensile test of simulated weld coarse grain heat affected zone(CGHAZ) of steels 15CrMoV, 18MnMoNiNb and 12Ni3CrMoV are carried out at reheat temperature. Themetallographic characteristics and the fracture feature of reheat crack are investigated. The results show thatthe fracture characteristics of the initiation and propagation of reheat cracking have a certain regularity.

Environmental pressures and economic requirements have led to a drive to ever increasing steam parameters to further increase steam turbine cycle efficiencies. This poses a number of challenges: plant architecture,steam turbine design and turbine material requirements. GE has been developing USC technology for more than 18 years and has many reference plants. The limits on inlet pressure and temperatures have been challenged as the technology and product development has proceeded. This paper discusses some of the options on how plant efficiency can be increased and some of the related challenges. The performance difference between a single reheat and double reheat is quantified based on a simplified thermodynamic model.

Rheological Properties of Waxy Crude at a Low Temperature in the Presence of Pour Point Depressants

Pour point depressants （PPD） are used to improve the theology of waxy crude. The affect of various factors on the theological properties, and the thermal characteristics of waxy crude treated by PPD have been investigated. The conclusions are as follows： PPD can reduce the pour point and abnormal point of waxy crude, broaden the temperature range of Newtonian fluid of waxy crude, and lower greatly the viscosity of non-Newtonian fluid of waxy crude. The influence of reheating and high-rate shear on the effect of PPD mainly depends on their temperature. When the reheating temperature is more than the abnormal point of crude by 10℃, the reheating process has little effect on the modification effect of PPD. However, when the reheating temperature is below the abnormal point of crude, the reheating process will reduce the modification effect of PPD. When temperature is above the abnormal point of crude, the high-rate shear has little effect on the modification effect of PPD. At a temperature range where a lot of wax is precipitating, high-rate shear will greatly reduce the modification effect of PPD.

According to the characters of billet heat transfer, a three-dimensional transient heat transfer model was developed. Based on the results of solving with finite element methods, it was analyzed that three-dimensional temperature field transient response process of 45 # steel under the disturbances of casting speed. The simulation results show the reheat is higher during the continuous casting descend abruptly, and the heat stress and the inner defects increases with the reheat obviously. The current mode of the secondary cooling waters must be improved to decrease the transient reheat aroused by the speed variation abruptly. Comparatively, because of the decrease of transient reheat during casting speed ascending abruptly, the heat exchanges speedy due to the increase of spray waters with the casting speed, it is not necessary to control compensation.
