Analysis of the heat transfer in unsymmetrically heated triangular microchannels in slip flow regime

A theoretical analysis of heat transfer characteristics is presented for the fully developed laminar flow of the incompressible gas in the triangular microchannels heated unsymmetrically with constant axial heat flux. Through solving the energy equation with temperature jump boundary conditions in slip flow regime by virtue of a computation- oriented method of the orthonormal function analysis, the dimensionless temperature profiles and the average Nusselt number for various thermal boundary conditions are obtained. The effects of Knudsen number, aspect ratio, and thermal boundary conditions on the heat transfer are discussed. The calculated results show that the orthonormal function method can be used to study the heat transfer characteristics of the unsymmetrically heated triangular microchannels. The average Nusselt number in triangular microchannels is lower for slip flow than for no-slip flow, and decreases with increasing Knudsen number. The aspect ratios and thermal boundary conditions of triangular microchannels have significant influences on the change of average Nusselt numbers with the increase in the Knudsen number. For the equilateral triangular microchannels, the decrease of the Nusselt number ratio due to temperature jump is smaller at large Knudsen number and larger at small Knudsen number on the boundary condition of bottom wall heated alone as compared with the one on the boundary condition of two heated hypotenuse walls. The correlations of the average Nusselt number with the Knudsen number for equilateral triangular microchannels are obtained.

Thermal regime transition in eastern North China and its tectonic implication

The pre-Cenozoic formation in the Cenozoic depositon centres in eastern North China reached its maximum temperature at present, and the earlier paleo-temperature, therefore, has been overprinted, but the record of paleo-temperature by the vitrinite reflectance (Ro) has not been overprinted by the later thermal events in the pre-Cenozoic formation located in the uplift or in the Paleozoic-Mesozoic residual basins out of the Cenozoic depositon centres. The reconstruction of paleo-temperature gradient and paleo-heat flow, based on the vitrinite reflectance in the Paleozoic and the Mesozoic structural layers in boreholes, indicated that the eastern North China was characterized by much higher paleo-temperature gradient (40-55℃/km) and heat flow (>80 mW/m2) during the Middle-Late Mesozoic than those in the Early Mesozoic and at present. The higher paleo-heat flow during the Middle-Late Mesozoic implies that the thickness of the 'thermal' lithosphere at that time was just 50-55 km, it had been much thinned relative to the thickness (135-148 km) at the Early Mesozoic. The transition of near-surface thermal regime in eastern North China occurred around 110 Ma, and the corresponding deep tectonothermal processes should take place at ~160 Ma.

Trends in the International regime of Liability and Compensation for Oil Pollution Damage

Since the entry into force of the International Convention on liability and compensation for oil spill damage, there have been many discussions on the improvement of this regime. Based on the existing tworegimes, the writer tried to analysis the advantages of the new regimes and foresee the trends of the international regime of liability and compensation for oil pollution damage.
