＜正＞ A single degree-of-freedom system subjectedto a regenerative force and excited by a modulated forceis analyzed in thes study. The modulated force has aconstant freqency and an amplitude that varies with timeat a much lower *** excitation consists ofthree frequency components,one of which is acomponent at the original excitation frequency and theothers are side *** response of such a self-excitedsystem is quite different from the forced vibrationresponse of a conventional system without theregenerative force to the same *** couplingeffects of the regenerative and modulated forces result indiffernt magnification factors for different frequencycomponents of the *** largest peakmagnification factor occurs at a frequency below theoriginal unmodulated *** appears when theoriginal excitation frequency is somewhat higher than thedamped natural frequency. The effects on themagnification factors of the regenerative force, thedamping ratio, and the modulating frequency arediscussed.
