The influence of pressure waves in tidal gravity records

For the reduction of atmospheric effects,observed gravity has initially been corrected by using the computed barometric admittance k of the in situ measured pressure,expressed in nms-2/hPa units and estimated by least squares ***,the local pressure changes alone cannot account for the atmospheric mass attraction and loading when the coherent pressure field exceeds a specific size,i.e.,with increasing *** overcome this difficulty,it is necessary to compute the total atmospheric effect at each station using the global pressure ***,the direct subtraction of the total gravity effect,provided by the models of pressure correction,is not yet satisfactory for S2 and other tidal components,such as K2 and P1,which include solar heating pressure *** paper identifies the origin of the problem and presents strategies to obtain a satisfactory ***,we set up a difference vector between the tidal factors of M2 and S2 after correction of the pressure and ocean tides *** vector,hereafter denoted as RES,presents the advantage of being practically insensitive to calibration *** minimum discrepancy between the tidal parameters of M2 and S2 corresponds to the minimum of the RES vector norm *** we adopt the hybrid pressure correction method,separating the local and the global pressure contribution of the models and replacing the local contribution by the pressure measured at the station multiplied by an admittance *** tested this procedure on 8 stations from the IGETS superconducting gravimeters network(former GGP network).For stations at an altitude lower than 1000 m,the value of dopt is always smaller *** discrepancy between the tidal parameters of the M2 and S2 waves is always lower than0.05% on the amplitude factors and 0.025° on the *** these stations,a correlation exists between the altitude and the value *** results at the three Central European stations Conrad,Pecny and Vienna are

Cenozoic sedimentary records and geochronological constraints of differential uplift of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau

Geological mapping data (1:250000) in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and its adjacent regions reveal the sediment sequences, distribution and tectonic evolution of the 92 Tertiary remnant basins. Southern Tibet and the Yecheng area in Xinjiang, located at southern and northwestern margins of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, respectively, were parts of the Neo-Tethys remnant sea in the Paleogene. In southern Tibet, both the subabyssal and abyssal sequences occur at the Gyangze, Saga, Guoyala, and Sangmai areas. The deep-water facies successions outcrop in the west, whereas the shallow-water facies sequences in the east, indicating the east to the west retreat of the Neo-Tethys Ocean. The retreat of the Neo-Tethys Ocean in the east was contributed to the earlier tectonic uplift of the eastern Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. The uplift process of the Plateau from the Late Cretaceous to Pliocene is described as follows: During the Late Cretaceous, tectonic uplift of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau occurred in the northeastern part and the configuration of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau was characterized by rise in the northeast and depression in the west. In the Paleocene-Eocene interval, the Tengchong-Baingoin and Kuyake-Golmud areas experienced local tectonic uplifting, the West Kunlun uplift zone broadened easterly, the Qilian uplift zone broadened southerly, and the Songpan-Garzê uplift zone shrank easterly. The Oligocene configuration of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau was characterized by mountain chains rising along its margins and sedimentary basins in the central part because of tectonic uplifts of the Gangdisê and the Himalaya blocks. Meanwhile, the Kunlun-Altyn-Qilian uplift zones have also broadened southerly and northerly. In contrast, the great uplift zones of the Gangdisê, the Himalaya, the Karakorum, and the Kunlun blocks characterize the paleogeographic contours of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau during the Miocene-Pliocene. Late Eocene pollen records and palaeoenvironmental changes in northern Tibetan Plateau

The Eocene palaeovegetation landscape and palaeoclimate reconstructed from the pollen records in the Jiuquan Basin, northwest China provide some important information on the early uplift of the Tibetan Plateau and the origin and evolution of the aridification in northwest China. The records show the arid-semiarid scrubs with open forest palynofloras controlled by the subtropical high existed in northwest China during the 40.2-33.4 Ma. Four pollen assemblages are found: Nitrariadites-Cheno-podipollis-Pinaceae assemblage (40.2-37.9 Ma) is followed by Chenopodipollis-Nitrariadites assemblage (37.9-34.6 Ma), Pinuspollenites & Abietineaepollenites-Chenopodipollis assemblage (34.6-33.9 Ma), and Chenopodipollis-Nitrariadites assemblage (33.9-33.4 Ma). The percentage of thermophilic types is in anti-correlation with that of the dry types, which means the palaeoclimate is relatively warmwet or cold-dry during most of that time. Such aridity may be related to the water vapor reduction and the planetary wind system movement northward in response to the cooling caused by small-ephemeral icesheets.

Three New records of Gastropoda(Mollusca) from the Nansha Islands,China

The Nansha Islands, China, have extremely high marine biodiversity and hundreds of mollusks have been reported there. Benthos resources investigations of the intertidal and subtidal zone around the Nansha Islands have been continuously performed for decades, and recently, dozens of new species and new records of mollusks have been reported from this area. This paper dealt with three new record species of the Gastropoda from Chinese waters: Cerithium salebrosum Sowerby II, 1855, Vexillum militare(Reeve, 1845) and Vexillum bizonale(Dautzenberg et Bouge, 1923), respectively belonging to three families: Cerithiidae Fleming, 1822, and Costellariidae Mac Donald, 1860. All specimens were collected from the Nansha Islands during the benthos resources investigations on the intertidal zone of islands and reefs in the South China Sea in recent years. Diagnosis and geographic descriptions of both genus and species, illustrations of each species were given in this contribution, and discussion of taxonomy, identification features and faunal characteristics were presented. All examined specimens were deposited in the Marine Biodiversity Collections of South China Sea, Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Impact of an educational intervention on medical records documentation

BACKGROUND: Inaccurate and incomplete documentation can lead to poor treatment and medicolegal consequences. Studies indicate that teaching programs in this field can improve the documentation of medical records. The study aimed to evaluate the effect of an educational workshop on medical record documentation by emergency medicine residents in the emergency ***: An interventional study was performed on 30 residents in their first year of training emergency medicine(PGY1), in three tertiary referral hospitals of Tehran University of Medical Sciences. The essential information that should be documented in a medical record was taught in a 3-day-workshop. The medical records completed by these residents before the training workshop were randomly selected and scored(300 records), as was a random selection of the records they completed one(300 records) and six months(300 records) after the ***: Documentation of the majority of the essential items of information was improved significantly after the workshop. In particular documentation of the patients' date and time of admission, past medical and social history. Documentation of patient identity, requests for consultations by other specialties, first and final diagnoses were 100% complete and accurate up to 6 months of the ***: This study confirms that an educational workshop improves medical record documentation by physicians in training.

Changes in South Asian monsoon: New high-resolution paleoclimatic records from Tibet, China

High-resolution pollen records from 6 small lakes in the Tibetan Plateau provided the details of evolution of South Asian monsoon since the Last Glacial Maximum. Prior to 16 kaBP, the region was a desert-steppe characterized by cold and dry climates, the January temperature was 7 -10℃lower than that of present and the annual precipitation only accounted for 40% of the present. The temperature and precipitation increased gradually and trees began to live in the region after 12 kaBP, but during the interval from 9.2 to 6.3 kaBP, forest and forest-meadow appeared occasionally. From 8 to 5 kaBP, both January and July temperature was 2-3℃ higher and annual precipitation was also about 200 mm higher than that of the present. After 5 kaBP, temperature and precipitation decreased linearly and steppe vegetation began to degenerate.

A PRELIMINARY RESEARCH ON THE CLIMATIC records OF LACUSTRINE DEPOSITS OF QINGTU LAKE IN THE LAST 6000 YEARS

A preliminary study on the advance and the retreat of Qingtu Lake and its climatic records of the Holocene lacustrine deposits has been made through comprehensive analysis. The study shows that the modes characteristics of climatic change in Eastern Hexi Corridor was provided with the corresponding relationship of warm moist and cold dry during the scale longer than hundred years. As a result of climatic changes and human activities, Qingtu Lake cycle has undergone four lake retreated and three lake advanced stages since 6000 a B.P. Based on the study on lacustrine sedimentary color, grain size, Fe 3+ /Fe 2+ and organic matter, the authors put forward that a warm period existed during the phase of 335-480 A.D. in the studied area. This warm period could be further testified by a lot of evidences obtained from the historical documents and the natural records of Qingtu Lake. In brief, the evolution of lakes in Eastern Hexi Corridor is characterized by sedimentary continuity, fast sedimentary rate and high resolution, it not only indicate the paleoenvironmental and climatic change in Holocene, but also can reflect the intensity of Eastern Asia monsoon.
