2.5 Gbit/s monolithic integrated circuits （ICs） for optical fiber transmitter and receiver in 0.35 μm CMOS （complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor transistor） process are presented. The transmitter, which includes a 4： 1 multiplexer and a laser diode driver （LDD）, has four 622 Mbit/s random signals as its inputs and gets a 2.5 Gbit/s driving signal as its output; the receiver detects a 2.5 Gbit/s random signal and gets four 622 Mbit/s signals at the output. The main circuits include a trans-impedance amplifier （TIA）, a limiting amplifier, a clock and data recovery （CDR） unit, and a 1： 4 demultiplexer （DEMUX）. Test results prove the logic functions of the transmitter to be right, and the 10% to 90% rise and fall times of transmitter＇s output data eye diagram are 211.1 ps and 200 ps, respectively. The sensitivity of the receiver is measured to be better than 20 mV. The root mean square jitter of the DEMUX＇s output data is 15.6 ps and that of the clock after 1： 4 frequency dividing is 1.9 ps. Two chips are both applicable to 2.5 Gbit/s optical fiber communication systems.

Objective(s): Laryngeal inflammations lead to voice disorders. Medical conditions such as chronic laryngitis, gastroesophageal reflux, laryngopharyngeal reflux, Reinke edema and/or vocal folds hemorrhage, result in diverse symptoms including chronic cough, throat cleaning and dysphonia (e.g. hoarseness). In turn, the dysphonic symptoms can be evaluated via subjective and objective procedures. The objective procedures usually include self-perceived questionnaires like the Voice Handicap Index (VHI). Studies reported that VHI can distinguish objectively dysphonic and non-dysphonic populations using the cut-off points of receiver Operating Characteristic Curves. The purpose of this study was to calculate the cut-off points for individuals exhibiting voice symptoms which had been developed from laryngeal inflammatory diseases in Greece. Methods: One hundred and twelve participants (90 non-dysphonic and 22 dysphonic) filled in the Hellenic Voice Handicap Index (VHI) and the Greek translated version of Voice Evaluation Template (VEF) were administrated. All subjects were evaluated by an Otolaryngologist and a Speech-Language Pathologist. Results: The group with voice disorders exhibited higher VHI scores (in total and in its 3 subdomains) compared to non-dysphonic subgroup. Statistical significant differences were found for all VHI’s total cut-off point of 19.50 (sensitivity: 0.882, 1-specificity: 0.011) and for its three subdomains [functional 6.50 (sensitivity = 0.636, and 1-specificity = 0.022);physical 9.50 (sensitivity = 0.636, and 1-specificity = 0.000);emotional 6.50 (sensitivity = 0.455, and 1-specificity = 0.133)]. Conclusion: The preliminary results showed that VHI could discriminate individuals having voice disorders from laryngeal inflammations. The Voice Handicap Index can be used as a primary health care tool and a self-monitoring procedure in acute and sub-acute phases of the laryngeal inflammation.

In CDMA communication systems, all the subscribers share the common channel. The limitation factor on the system’s capacity is not the bandwidth, but multiuser interference and the near far problem. This paper models CDMA system from the perspective of mobile radio channels corrupted by additive white noise generated by multipath and multiple access interferences. The system’s receiver is assisted using different combining diversity techniques. Performance analysis of the system with these detection techniques is presented. The paper demonstrates that combining diversity techniques in the system’s receivers markedly improve the performance of CDMA systems.

A 2.4GHz monolithic CMOS receiver with direct-conversion architecture is presented. This quadrature receiver is designed for 802.11b wireless LAN applications at the maximum data rate of 11Mbps as a low-cost solution. Five key blocks,i, e., a low noise amplifier （LNA）, a down-conversion mixer, a variable gain amplifier, a low pass filter, and a DC- offset cancellation circuit,are designed based on system design and low noise high linearity considerations. The necessary auxiliary circuits are also included. Fabricated in SMIC 0.18μm 1p6m RF CMOS process, the receiver＇s performance is measured as：4. 1 dB noise figure, - 7.5dBm input third order intercept point （IIP3） for LNA ＆ mixer at high gain setting, - 14dBm IIP3 for the whole receiver,53dBc @30MHz offset of adjacent channel power rejection,and less than 5mV out- put DC-offset. The receiver consumes 44mA under a 1.8V power supply with I,Q two paths.

Task scheduling is a key problem for the distributed computation. This thesis analyzes receiver initiated(RI) task scheduling algorithm, finds its weakness and presents an improved algorithm PRI algorithm. This algorithm schedules the concurrent tasks onto network of workstation dynamically at runtime, and initiates task scheduling by the node of low load. The threshold on each node can be modified according to the system information which is periodically detected. Meanwhile, the detecting period can be adjusted in terms of the change of the system state. The result of the experiments shows that the PRI algorithm is superior to the RI algorithm.

All digital implementation of receiver is a main topic on digital communication recently. The design of interpolation filter is one of the important problems for all digital implementation of receiver. In this paper, for full response linear modulation signal, a interpolation criterion is proposed. An interpolation formula is presented on bandwidth-limited transmission signal. For example, using the raised cosine roll off function as the system pulse response, the feasibility and effectiveness on the interpolation formula are certified by theoretical and numerical analysis. The computer simulation result on 16-QAM signal is given.

In this document we describe the idea and the development of a new type of GNSS receiver. First, we have a new open format for transporting GNSS created data and this developed oriented to an object format that greatly simplifies development and allows more effective programming. The open LINUX OS allows the developer in that it can be programmed directly on the GNSS board completely new perspectives. Nevertheless, this GNSS receiver is still small and easy to handle and with low power consumption and is otherwise in accordance with the major manufacturers in nothing. He can receive and process all GNSS signals and has a very fast and robust RTK algorithm. Furthermore, you also have the possibility of their own developments to install directly on the board. This makes this product unique and gives the customer and the system integrator unprecedented freedoms and opportunities for development.
