Models to Simulate Effective Coverage of Fire Station Based on real-time Travel times

In recent years,frequent fire disasters have led to enormous damage in China.Effective firefighting rescues can minimize the losses caused by fires.During the rescue processes,the travel time of fire trucks can be severely affected by traffic conditions,changing the effective coverage of fire stations.However,it is still challenging to determine the effective coverage of fire stations considering dynamic traffic conditions.This paper addresses this issue by combining the traveling time calculationmodelwith the effective coverage simulationmodel.In addition,it proposes a new index of total effective coverage area(TECA)based on the time-weighted average of the effective coverage area(ECA)to evaluate the urban fire services.It also selects China as the case study to validate the feasibility of the models,a fire station(FS-JX)in Changsha.FS-JX station and its surrounding 9,117 fire risk points are selected as the fire service supply and demand points,respectively.A total of 196 simulation scenarios throughout a consecutiveweek are analyzed.Eventually,1,933,815 sets of valid sample data are obtained.The results showed that the TECA of FS-JX is 3.27 km^(2),which is far below the standard requirement of 7.00 km^(2) due to the traffic conditions.The visualization results showed that three rivers around FS-JX interrupt the continuity of its effective coverage.The proposed method can provide data support to optimize the locations of fire stations by accurately and dynamically determining the effective coverage of fire stations.

Utility-based and fairness-aware radio resource allocation in OFDMA cellular relay networks with traffic prioritization

The combination of orthogonal frequency division multiple access(OFDMA) with relaying techniques provides plentiful opportunities for high-performance and cost-effective networks.It requires intelligent radio resource management schemes to harness these opportunities.This paper investigates the utility-based resource allocation problem in a real-time and non-real-time traffics mixed OFDMA cellular relay network to exploit the potentiality of relay.In order to apply utility theory to obtain an efficient tradeoff between throughput and fairness as well as satisfy the delay requirements of real-time traffics,a joint routing and scheduling scheme is proposed to resolve the resource allocation problem.Additionally,a low-complexity iterative algorithm is introduced to realize the scheme.The numerical results indicate that besides meeting the delay requirements of real-time traffic,the scheme can achieve the tradeoff between throughput and fairness effectively.

Modeling the effect of traffic regimes on safety of urban arterials： The case study of Athens

This study aims to divide traffic into meaningful clusters （regimes） and to investigate their impact on accident likelihood and accident severity. Furthermore, the likelihood of pow- ered-two-wheelers （PTWs） involvement in an accident is examined. To achieve the aims of the study, traffic and accident data during the period 2006-2011 from two major arterials in Athens were collected and processed. Firstly, a finite mixture cluster analysis was imple- mented to classify traffic into clusters. Afterwards, discriminant analysis was carried out in order to correctly assign new cases to the existing regimes by using a training and a testing set. Lastly, Bayesian logistic regression models were developed to investigate the impact of traffic regimes on accident likelihood and severity. The findings of this study suggest that urban traffic can be divided into different regimes by using average traffic occupancy and its standard deviation, measured by nearby upstream and downstream loop detectors. The results revealed potential hazardous traffic conditions, which are discussed in the paper. In general, high occupancy values increase accident likelihood, but tend to lead slight acci- dents, while PTWs are more likely to be involved in an accident, when traffic occupancy is high. Transitions from high to low occupancy also increase accident likelihood.

A distributed synchronous reservation multiple access control protocol for mobile Ad hoc networks

This study proposes a new multiple access con-trol protocol named distributed synchronous reservation mul-tiple access control protocol,in which the hidden and exposed terminal problems are solved,and the quality of service(QoS)requirements for real-time traffic are guaranteed.The protocol is founded on time division multiplex address and a different type of traffic is assigned to different priority,according to which a node should compete for and reserve the free slots in a different method.Moreover,there is a reservation acknowledgement process before data transmit in each reserved slot,so that the intruded terminal problem is solved.The throughput and average packets drop probability of this protocol are analyzed and simulated in a fully connected network,the results of which indicate that this protocol is efficient enough to support the real-time traffic,and it is more suitable to MANETs.

Uplink Scheduling for Supporting real time Voice Traffc in IEEE 802.16 Backhaul Networks

In this paper we propose simple enhancements to the bandwidth （BW） request messages in IEEE 802.16 for supporting real-time packet voice traffic. Three different BW request formats are proposed, each requiring a different amount of latency information about the buffered packets at the SS. On this basis, packet scheduling schemes are proposed for the BS to make resource allocations for real-time traffic. Our results show that the proposed BW request and scheduling schemes achieve significantly lower packet loss probability than the standard IEEE 802.16 BW request with round robin scheduling. The results further show that there is an optimum point about how much delay information the SS should report to the BS in order to best utilize the uplink resources while the SS provides satisfactory real-time performance for the voice traffic.

为解决生鲜农产品冷链物流配送成本高、在途时间长等问题，考虑到日趋拥堵的城市道路，本文首先基于实时路况信息分析农产品冷链物流配送的固定成本、运输成本、制冷成本、货损成本和惩罚成本等，建立了总成本最小化的配送路径优化数学模型。在此基础上，为进一步解决末端灵活配送和降低总配送成本问题，提出在冷链配送中合理设置接驳点，建立了基于实时路况和接驳点的农产品冷链物流配送路径优化数学模型。利用蚁群算法对上述模型求解，并进行了实证研究分析。研究表明，基于实时路况信息和接驳方式的农产品冷链物流配送可以有效地降低冷链配送成本和提高客户满意度。
