THE PREVENTION OF AXON-SPROUTING IN PARTIALLY DENERVATED MUSCLE BY BOTULINUM POISONING

In a previous work we showed that after crushing the nerve the reinnervation of the botulinum poisoned muscle could take place as readily as that of normal muscle so that rather quick restoration of function to the botulinum paralysed muscle could be effected through nerve regeneration. Soon afterwards Thesleff et al. reported the same result. When a normal muscle is partially denervated it is known that the residual motor axons can give collateral and ultraterminal sprouting, thereby reinnervating some of the denervated muscle fibres. Following up our previous work, we made the further inquiry whether such axon-sprouting could also occur in botulinum poisoned muscle. The answer came out to be negative. Several lanthanide chelates of the fluorochloroalkyl β-diketones Ln（CF2ClCOCHCOR）3·nH2O were prepared （2,Ln=Eu;2a,R=C（CH3）3,n=0;2b,R=C6F5,n=0;2c,R=CF2Cl,n=2.3,Ln=Pr;3a,R=C（CH3）3,n=0;3b,R=C6F5,n=1;3c,R=CF2Cl,n=2.4,Ln=La,R=C6H5,n=0）and the NMR shift data of compounds 2 and 3 had been determined using alcohols,ether,ketonesand amine as substrates.With alcohol,ether and ketone,compounds 2 induces shifts similar to thatinduced by Eu （fod）3.However due to the high solubility of the chelates in non-polar organic sol-vents such as CHCl3 and CCl4 and the absence of 1H signal from compounds 2b and 2c,their applicationas a series of new 1H NMR shift reagents seems promising,

But the derivatives of the phenoxy titanium chlorides have seldom been reported. In general these complexes can be used as catalysts for the polymerization of olefins and epoxides. In this study eight new complexes have been synthesized and characterized by elementary analysis and IR spectroscopy.

A number of titanium compounds with nitrogen-donor ligands have been prepared. But the derivatives of the phenoxy titanium chlorides have seldom been reported. In general, these complexes can be used as catalysts for the polymerization of olefins and epoxides. In this study, eight new complexes have been synthesized and characterized by elementary analysis and IR spectroscopy.

(Hypocreaceae Ascomycetes). The red pigment is soluble in most of the common organic solvents. It is readily soluble in both chloroform and acetone somewhat soluble in hot light petroleum but insoluble in water. When the acetone solution of this compound was exposed to light it would combine with two oxygen atoms and turn into a yellowish-red compound like cladochrome. The red pigment was recrystallized from acetone (m. p. 209-210℃). Both elemental analysis (C 65.81%
