The problem of resource optimization is one of the most important issues in discrete event systems(DES). Assuming that the firing of transition consumes the resource of DES but the place does not,an improved consuming Petri net(ICPN) is proposed to deal with this problem by associating a consuming function with each *** order to describe this process and obtain the minimal consuming function,transitions are divided into two subsets T(with a positive real number) and T(with a zero number).Based on the reachability graph(RG),an optimal algorithm is presented to compute the optimal resources and the corresponding firing count vector,and an example is also provided to illustrate the validity and efficiency.

Petri net based test case generation for evolved specification

Model-based testing can use a model to test a concrete program’s implementation. When the model is changed due to the evolution of the specification, it is important to maintain the test suites up to date, such that it can be used for regression testing. A complete regeneration of the whole test suite from the new model,although inefficient, is still frequently used in practice. To address this problem effectively, we propose a test case reusability analysis technique to identify reusable test cases of the original test suite based on graph analysis,such that we can generate new test cases to cover only the change-related parts of the new model. The Market Information System(MIS) is employed to demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed *** experimental results show that the use of our method saves about 31.5% test case generation cost.

Detecting Data-flow Errors Based on Petri Nets With Data Operations

In order to guarantee the correctness of business processes, not only control-flow errors but also data-flow errors should be considered. The control-flow errors mainly focus on deadlock, livelock, soundness, and so on. However, there are not too many methods for detecting data-flow errors. This paper defines Petri nets with data operations(PN-DO) that can model the operations on data such as read, write and delete. Based on PN-DO, we define some data-flow errors in this paper. We construct a reachability graph with data operations for each PN-DO, and then propose a method to reduce the reachability graph. Based on the reduced reachability graph, data-flow errors can be detected rapidly. A case study is given to illustrate the effectiveness of our methods.

Hybrid Petri Nets for Modeling and Analysis of Microgrid Systems

Hybrid Petri nets(HPNs) are widely used to describe and analyze various industrial hybrid systems that have both discrete-event and continuous discrete-time behaviors. Recently,many researchers attempt to utilize them to characterize power and energy systems. This work proposes to adopt an HPN to model and analyze a microgrid that consists of green energy sources. A reachability graph for such a model is generated and used to analyze the system properties.
