Reduced-rank space-time adaptive detection for airborne radar

For airborne radar,there are usually insufficient independent and identically distributed(IID)training data because of geometric considerations and terrain *** rank reduction technique is one of the most effective approaches to circumvent this *** this study,we investigate four reduced-rank spacetime adaptive detectors for airborne radar,namely,the reduced-rank sample-matrix-inversion(RR-SMI),the reduced-rank adaptive matched filter(RR-AMF),the reduced-rank adaptive coherence estimator(RR-ACE),and the reduced-rank generalized likelihood ratio test(RR-GLRT).Their asymptotic analytical probabilities of detection(PD’s)and false alarm(PFA’s)are all *** detectors all asymptotically attain a constant false alarm rate(CFAR).It is shown that these four reduced-rank detectors exhibit detection performance which is better than or comparable to that of two existing reduced-rank detectors,proposed by Reed and Gau(RG1and RG2).Moreover,these four reduced-rank detectors are more robust to change in power of clutter and noise than RG1 and RG2.

This paper presents an alternating least mean square (LMS) adaptive algorithm for the reduced rank filter recently studied by Hua, Maziar and Stoica (2001). The alternating LMS is computationally more efficient than conventional methods and useful for on-line applications. It doesn’t require measurements of the pertinent correlation matrices, nor does it require matrix inversion. It is compared to an adaptive version of the alternating power (AP) method and an alternating recursive least squares (RLS) method. It is shown that these algorithms have similar tracking performances although the alternating RLS algorithm performs slightly better initially.

Real Maximal Robust Stability Radii for SCS Systems

＜正＞In this paper, the real maximal robust stability radii are investigated for uncertain continuous-time symmetric-commutable singular（SCS） systems described by dynamic equation. First, one structured uncertainty is defined;then we provide an explicit expression for the real maximal robust radii. Based on it, the problem is transformed into a special rank reduction problem that is the rank of the perturbed matrix will remain the same. A simple formula is derived for the radii by using the matrix theory. Finally, an illustrative example is used to support the effectiveness of the proposed approach.
