In order to enhance the optical clearing effect of topically applied optical clearing agents(OCAs),we evaluated the effect of propylene glycol(PG)as a chemical penetration enhancer(PE)on optical clearing of skin in vitro by observation and measurement of optical-transmittance and diffuse-reflectance *** OCAs,i.e.,glycerol,D-sorbitol and PEG400,and two other penetration enhancers,Azone and Thiazone,were used in this *** results indicated that the decrease of reduced scattering coefficient caused by OCA/PG was larger than that by pure OCA,and the change by OCA/water was the least after the same treatment *** were significant differences for the reduced scattering coefficient at 630 nm after 120 min application of agents between OCA and OCA/*** efficacy of optical clearing caused by OCA/PG depended on the OCA *** PEG400 was mixed with three different PEs,we found the optical clearing were *** penetration enhancing ability of PG was much better compared to Azone,and suboptimal to ***,this study provides evidence for the use of PG as a PE in order to improve skin optical clearing.

Synthesis of 2-methylpyrazine from cyclocondensation of ethylene diamine and propylene glycol over promoted copper catalyst

The 2-methylpyrazine was synthesized by catalytic reaction of ethylene diamine and propylene glycol at 380 ℃. The alumina supported copper catalysts with promoter were prepared by impregnation method, characterized by ICP-AES, BET and TPR. The results demonstrated that the dehydrogenation was improved by addition of chromium promoter. The selectivity of 2-methylpyrazine reached 84.75%, while the conversions of reactants were also enhanced.

propylene glycol-based MWCNT(multi-walled carbon nanotubes)nanoﬂuids were prepared in the framework of a two-step method and by using a suitable PVP(polyvinyl pyrrolidone)*** BBD(Box-Behnken design)model was exploited to analyze 17 sets of experiments and examine the sensitivity of the absorbance to three parameters,namely the concentration of MWCNT,the SN ratio(mass ratio of carbon nanotubes to sur-factants)and the sonication *** results have revealed that,while the SN ratio and concentration of MWCNT have a strong effect on the absorbance,the inﬂuence of the sonication time is less *** sta-tistical method of analysis of variance(ANOVA)was further used to determine the F-and p-values of the *** experiments were run to validate this *** sample 2 was found to display the greatest absorbance,it was selected for stability monitoring as well as thermal conductivity and viscosity *** sample has been found to be stable;the viscosity decreased with increasing temperature;the addition of MWCNT nano-particles was more effective in improving the thermal conductivity of propylene glycol than other methods in the ***,the MWCNT nanoﬂuid based on propylene glycol exhibited higher thermal conductivity at low temperatures.

Chiral fluorescent sensor Tb^(3+)@Cd‑CP based on camphoric acid for the enantioselective recognition of R‑and S‑propylene glycol

Herein,a layered chiral coordination polymer,[Cd2(D‑cam)_(2)(2,2′‑bipy)_(2)]_(n)(Cd‑CP),was synthesized using a solvothermal method with camphoric acid(D‑H_(2)cam),2,2′‑bipyridine(2,2′‑bipy)and Cd^(2+),and Tb^(3+)@Cd‑CP was in‑situ synthesized introducing Tb^(3+)*** fluorescence experiments revealed that compared to Cd‑CP,Tb^(3+)@Cd‑CP exhibited ultra‑high fluorescence *** luminescence sensing performance demonstrated that Tb^(3+)@Cd‑CP could distinguish R/S‑propylene glycol(R/S‑PG)by fluorescence responses,with fluorescence quenching constant of 5.3×10^(3)and 2.0×10^(3)L·mol^(-1)respectively and the enantioselectivity factor(α)of ***,Tb^(3+)@Cd‑CP demonstrated limits of detection of 9.3 and 19.0μmol·L^(-1)for R‑PG and S‑PG,respectively,and showed good reproducibility.

Effects of Oral Administration of propylene glycol and Ca-P-Mg Mixture on Milk Quality and SCC of Dairy Cows after Birth

In order to further study the postpartum care technology of dairy cows,the effects of oral administration of propylene glycol or Ca-P-Mg mixture and compound oral rehydration salts on milk quality and SCC of dairy cows after birth were investigated. The results showed that the milk fat and dry matter contents in the dairy cows administered with Ca-P-Mg mixture and compound oral rehydration salts were higher than those in the dairy cows administered with propylene glycol（P 〈0.05）. However, there were no significant differences in milk sugar and protein contents and SCC between the two administration groups.

AIM:To investigate the chemopreventive iffects of 1α,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 in diethylnitrosamine induced,phenobarbital promoted rat ***:The rats were randomly divided into 6 different groups(A-F).Group A,C and E rats received a single intraperitoneal (i.p) injection of diethylnitrosamine (DEN) at a dose of 200 mg/kg body mass in 9 g/L NaCl solution at 4 wk of age ,while group B served as normal vehicle control received normal saline *** a brief recovery of 2 WK, all the DEN treated rats were given phenobarbital (PB) at 0.5g/L daily in the basal diet till WK *** C was started 4 wk prior to DEN injection and continued thereafter till wk 20 at a dose (os) twice a *** E received the treatment of 1α,25-(OH)2D3 at the same dose mentioned as above for 15 *** rats in group D and F received 1α,25-(OH)2D3 alone as in group C without DEN ***:The comet assay showed statistically higher mean values for length to width ratios (L:W) of DNA mass and tailed cells (p<0.01;p<0.01 respectively) in DEN treated rats as compared to their normal *** supplementation of 1α,25-dihydroxyvitaminD3 showed a significant (p<0.01) decrease in L:W ratio of DNA mass tailed ***,1α,25-(OH)2D3 supplementations elevated the super oxide dismutase (SOD) activety,hepatic malondialdehyde(MDA) levle,reduced glutathione (GSH) and glutathione S-transferase (GST) activety (p<0.01,p<0.01,p<0.05 and p<0.05 respectively).As an endpoint marker histological changes were observed to establish the chemopreventive effects of 1α,***:Supplementations of 1α,25-(OH)2D3 has a marked protection against hepatic nodelogenesis,antioxidant enzymes and DNA damages in DEN induced rat hepatocarcinogenesis promoted by phenobarbital.

Synthesis and Characterization of EO/PO Random Copolyethers

Ethylene oxide(EO) and propylene oxide(PO) random copolyethers were synthesized by the sequential addition of the mixture of ethylene oxide and propylene oxide to propylene glycol (initiator) in the presence of potassium hydroxide(KOH), and characterized with infrared spectrum(FTIR) and nuclear magnetism resonance(NMR). The effects of catalyst concentration, reaction temperature, charging rate and EO/PO mixture ratio on the polymerization reaction were investigated. It was revealed that the optimal reaction condition is the ratio of 2.5∶1 000(KOH mass vs. product mass), at 114.6℃ and pressure below 0.4 MPa. The residual KOH was neutralized by phosphoric acid(H 3PO 4). Then the crude copolyether was refined with adsorbents, and the refined copolyether, which contains less than 0.7 μg/ml K+, was obtained as colorless, viscous liquid.
