As the manufacturing industry matures,vast amounts of data related to products are created by many kinds of engineering systems during the manufacturing *** include data for a variety of facilities,manufacturing processes,and the input and output of each process (input material,by-products,and intermediate and final products).Effective operation and maintenance of manufacturing facilities and eco-friendly products are gradually becoming important issues due to increased environmental regulations and changes in the enterprise business *** this reason,increased efficiency in data management is necessary in the manufacturing *** this paper,existing data models for the integration of lifecycle data are analyzed according to their application *** the analysis,information requirements for the integrated management of facility,process,and output data are *** to these requirements,a data model appropriate for this integration is *** an application case study,the use of the proposed data model for the effective operation and maintenance of manufacturing facilities is ***,benefit,limitation,and improvement of the proposed data model are discussed.

Engineering Change management Adaptive to PLM

Engineering Change (EC) management for a product lifecycle management (PLM) system, including EC data model, EC evaluation and EC implementation is presented. A method of dynamic and parallel EC evaluation is proposed, which breaks an EC evaluation task into several subtasks. Such subtasks can be dynamically and simultaneously proceeded, disassembled and communicated by different specialists, and at the same time a set of EC objects is created. This approach provides flexible and effective evaluation of the EC. The EC implementation followed will further ensure the completeness and consistency of EC data.

Over last few years, web services, Java 2 and XML have provided the cheaper means for trading partners to make use of EDI. It is now possible to share data with less reliance on expensive dedicated EDI networks. The second comes the realization that product Definition can be reused by virtually all business processes downstream. This has made collaborative product development a practical reality. These technologies have enabled effective implementation of product lifecycle management (PLM) Solutions. This paper presents a literature review about PLM solutions, looking at its definitions, through to its need and scope of applications. It also presents the most generally envisaged architecture, explaining as to how it may be looked at and what it is expected to deliver. At the end it examines the market trend and revenue growth over recent years including future trends for the most prominent vendors pitched in the field of PLM solutions.
