The meanings of parameters of software reliabi- lity models are investigated in terms of the process of the software testing and in terms of other measurements of software. Based on the investigation, the empirical estimation of the parameters is addressed. On one hand, these empirical estimates are also measurements of the software, which can be used to control and to optimize the process of the software development. On the other hand, by treating these empirical estimates as Bayes priors, software reliability models are extended such that the engineers’ experience can be integrated into and hence to improve the models.

The selection of predictors plays a crucial role in building a multiple regression model. Indeed, the choice of a suitable subset of predictors can help to improve prediction accuracy and interpretation. In this paper, we propose a flexible Bayesian Lasso and adaptive Lasso quantile regression by introducing a hierarchical model framework approach to enable exact inference and shrinkage of an unimportant coefficient to zero. The error distribution is assumed to be an infinite mixture of Gaussian densities. We have theoretically investigated and numerically compared our proposed methods with Flexible Bayesian quantile regression (FBQR), Lasso quantile regression (LQR) and quantile regression (QR) methods. Simulations and real data studies are conducted under different settings to assess the performance of the proposed methods. The proposed methods perform well in comparison to the other methods in terms of median mean squared error, mean and variance of the absolute correlation criterions. We believe that the proposed methods are useful practically.

The purpose of this study is to introduce a novel empirical iterative algorithm for medical image reconstruction, under the short name MRP-ISWLS (Median Root prior Image Space Weighted Least Squares). Further, we assess the performance of the new algorithm by comparing it to the simultaneous version of known MRP algorithms. All algorithms are compared in terms of cross-correlation and CNRs (Contrast-to-Noise Ratios). As it turns out, MRP-ISWLS presents higher CNRs than the known algorithms for objects of different size. Also MRP-ISWLS has better noise manipulation.

The study aims at finding out the factors that have impact on a second language learner improving his language proficiency.
