precedence-constrained path planning of messenger UAV for air-ground coordination

This paper addresses an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) path planning problem for a team of cooperating heterogeneous vehicles composed of one UAV and multiple unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs). The UGVs are used as mobile actuators and scattered in a large area. To achieve multi-UGV communication and collaboration, the UAV serves as a messenger to fly over all task points to collect the task information and then flies all UGVs to transmit the information about tasks and UGVs. The path planning of messenger UAV is formulated as a precedence-constrained dynamic Dubins traveling salesman problem with neighborhood (PDDTSPN). The goal of this problem is to find the shortest route enabling the UAV to fly over all task points and deliver information to all requested UGVs. When solving this path planning problem, a decoupling strategy is proposed to sequentially and rapidly determine the access sequence in which the UAV visits task points and UGVs as well as the access location of UAV in the com mu nication n eighborhood of each task point and each UGV. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is corroborated through computational experiments on randomly generated instances. The computational results on both small and large in stances dem on strate that the proposed approach can generate high-quality solutions in a reasonable time as compared with two other heuristic algorithms.

Function design of embedded real-time system introduced the problem of real-time task scheduling with precedence constraint which needs that scheduling sequence produced by algorithm satisfying not only real-time constraint of every task, but also precedence constraint among tasks. Based on parallel topological sort, this paper presents a new on-line scheduling algorithm OSA-RPC which can set priority of task considering real-time parameter and precedence constraint.

Towards Designing an Intelligent Educational Assessment Tool

Assessment is an important part of learning process. It can be defined as the process of gathering information for the purpose of making judgments about a current state of affairs presumably for the purpose of enhancing future outcomes [1]. It determines whether or not the goals of education are being met. Typically, most assessment tools give a numerical score as the result of the assessment. This may not be enough to improve the student’s progress. In this paper we defined main problems in current assessment tools and proposed a new assessment model that uses notions in knowledge space theory to overcome the shortage of the current assessment models. The experiment result showed that this new prototype made the assessment process easier and more effective. However, assessment affects decisions about grades, instructional needs and curriculum. This is an important phase of the learning process being showed in this paper in knowledge states framework. Future research will focus on making the tool behave intelligently to improve students’ learning momentum.

A Dialogue System for Coherent Reasoning with Inconsistent Knowledge Bases

Traditionally, the AI community assumes that a knowledge base must be consistent. Despite that, there are many applications where, due to the existence of rules with exceptions, inconsistent knowledge must be considered. One way of restoring consistency is to withdraw conflicting rules;however, this will destroy part of the knowledge. Indeed, a better alternative would be to give precedence to exceptions. This paper proposes a dialogue system for coherent reasoning with inconsistent knowledge, which resolves conflicts by using precedence relations of three kinds: explicit precedence relation, which is synthesized from precedence rules;implicit precedence relation, which is synthesized from defeasible rules;mixed precedence relation, which is synthesized by combining explicit and implicit precedence relations.
