The paper presents a precaution Index (P) developed to create an instrument to assess the potential risk related to the presence of pollution sources next to milk production farms. The methodology starts from the inventory and geo-referencing of all pollution sources in an area, with the help of the multi-criteria decision analysis. Results are represented in a map of P, which highlights which areas are most at risk and need monitoring, and which pollutants may be involved. This may help in the early identification of emerging hazards to food safety. P was calculated for the milk production in an Italian region. Results show that 97% of the area is in a condition of minimum precaution that would be needed in controlling the safety of dairy products.

The present study aims to treat some aspects of environmental contamination under the focus of the principle of precaution, which is based on ideas and discussion about the concerns of society regarding ethics, the environment, water resources, the risk of contamination, and the uncertainties of technological applications in all areas of human knowledge. In the assessment of these scenarios it was decided to evaluate, under a critical view, the chemicals used in the treatment of drinking water, which could cause health problems, directly or indirectly, in the population. Some samples of commercial aluminium sulphate were analysed, concluding that there was a need for physical and chemical assessments to identify the origins of the raw materials used in its manufacturing process.

Landslides are quite common natural hazards in the eastern Black Sea region of NE *** the heavy rainfall in the K?prülü(Rize)village settlement area,located in this region where the slope debris overlies the agglomerates,a failure *** to the developed tension cracks and deformations on the ground,houses,tea gardens,and roads were damaged *** figure out the causes and mechanism of the sliding and to suggest the precautions,a detailed geotechnical study was carried *** the five survey lines,twelve boreholes were drilled with a total depth of 300 ***,the geophysical surveys on ten profiles were conducted and the inclinometer measurements were taken in five *** and disturbed samples were collected and laboratory experiments were *** measurements indicated that the sliding started in the slope debris and then spread to the agglomeratic *** slope stability was examined using the limit equilibrium(LE)and finite element(FEM)analysis *** results of the slope stability analyses showed that the failure mode is talus slide with composite shape and outputs coincide with the inclinometer monitoring *** on the collected data,it is determined that there will be unavoidable engineering problems if no precautions are *** of the negative reasons which make the application of supporting methods meaningless in the study area,it is considered that transferring the residences to a safer place without risk of natural hazards will be economical and reliable.

Improving tuberculosis infection control practice and microbial air quality in a general hospital after intervention

Objective:Hospital personnel,especially nurses are at risk for tuberculosis(TB) infection and the intervention for reducing the risk should be ***:To compare the TB infection control practices and standard precaution in 154 registered nurses and auxiliary nurses working in risk ***,microbial air quality in the studied wards was investigated before and after implementation of an intervention including twoday training program on TB infection control and standard precaution practices and managing the ward environments. Results:Post-intervention,the percentage of studied nurses who always practiced increased in every item of TB infection control practice(6 items) and standard precaution(9 items) when compared with the preintervention *** mean scores were significantly higher than those before intervention(5.0±1.0 vs 4. 4±1.1,and 7.6±1.3 vs 6.7±1.5,P500 cfu/m^3).Conclusion:Two-day training program and management of the ward environment could improve the scores of TB infection control practices and the standard precaution among studied nurses and reduce the microbial counts in air samples collected from the studied wards.

Basal cell carcinoma(BCC)is by far the most common human skin *** Caucasians,BCCs account for around 90%of periocular ***,periocular BCCs are usually neglected due to their slow and painless growth,unless presenting complaints,e.g.,large size,bleeding,recurrent infections of the tumor,or secondary symptoms resulting from adjacent structures involvement as epiphora,limited eye globe motility as well as globe ***,although the tumor can usually be cured with local excision,local recurrence can occur in up to 20%of eyelid BCC *** BCCs of the eyelid show a poorer overall prognosis than the primary *** addition,the management of advanced diseases,such as orbital or intracranial invasion as well as metastatic lesions,is challenging and often involves a multidisciplinary *** this paper,we reviewed the recent research progress of pathogenesis,clinical presentation,and therapeutics of periocular *** introduced the molecular pathogenesis of BCCs[multi-step ultraviolet(UV)-induced carcinogenesis model,genetic predisposition,and epigenetic changes],clinical classification,and tumor-node-metastasis(TNM)clinically stage of eyelid skin *** also emphasized the treatment of BCCs,i.e.,surgical resection,oculoplastic reconstruction,and alternative therapies(radiation therapy,systemic therapy,topical therapy,and prophylactic therapy).In the end,we proposed that considering the possible iatrogenic damage to the surface of the eye by surgical excision,the treatment of periocular BCCs is recommended to be performed by or in the presence of an oculoplastic surgeon.

Orbital fractures generally do not cause eyelid *** have shown that mostly eyelid malposition is mainly due to the choice of surgical approaches of orbital fracture *** are divided into transcutaneous and transconjunctival *** application of orbital fracture approaches depends on fractures’range and the surgeons’*** malposition after orbital fracture surgery is not only an aesthetic concern but also a functional complication,which will cause eyes discomfort,such as corneal exposure and ocular *** patients may have multiple types of eyelid *** this review,we summarized the surgical approaches of orbital fractures and the complications including scar,ectropion,retraction,entropion,flattening,laceration and lacrimal canaliculus avulsion and notch deformity that associated with eyelid,especially the lower *** revealed that the scar usually occurred in infraorbital incisions compared with subtarsal and subciliary incisions,and the transconjunctival approach had a higher incidence of entropion and flattening,and less ectropion than the transcutaneous ***,pathogenesis of eyelid malposition after orbital fracture surgery are ***,to prevent eyelid malposition complications,doctors should choose the appropriate orbital fracture approach according to the patient’s needs,and delicate tissue management,technical expertise,and meticulous hemostasis are *** treatment with taping,lubricating ointment,and steroid for eyelid malposition complications should be performed first,and then surgical intervention when the conservative treatment fails.

We evaluate the level of knowledge of clinician doctors asking for echographies on the biological effects of ultrasounds and their attitudes towards ultrasounds examinations performed in Lome. Transverse study based on a survey led from August 16th till November 30th, 2013 including 105 doctors applicant of ultrasound in Lome (Togo). The middle age of the applicant doctors was of 34 years with a sex-ratio of 4/1 and more than half practiced in public facilities. Approximately ten percent applicants thought that the ultrasound is an irradiant exam and those practicing for less than 5 years were the ones who had a good level of knowledge on the not irradiant character of the ultrasounds. The existence of the thermal and mechanical effects of the ultrasounds was known only by 4.8% of the applicants and only 1.9% of the doctors had information on the thermal index (TI) and the mechanical index (MI). More than half (66.7%) analyzed the ultrasound images joined to the report but none verified the conformity with the standards of the values of the TI and at MI shown on the images. They were 43.5% to read only the conclusion. The level of knowledge of the doctors on the biological effects of the ultrasounds is unsatisfactory. The ultrasounds although not irradiant, have biological effects imposing precautionary measures which have to guide the attitude of the applicants towards the ultrasonographic explorations.
