As power systems experience increased wind penetration,an effective analysis and assessment of the influence of wind energy on power system transient stability is *** paper presents a novel center of inertia(COI)approach to understand how integrated doubly fed induction generators(DFIGs)affect the transient dynamics of a power *** the COI coordinate,the influence of integrated DFIGs is separated into the COI related and individual synchronous generator related *** factors that affect the COI’s dynamic motion as well as the rotor dynamics of each individual synchronous generator with respect to the DFIG integration are *** further validate the analysis,comparative simulations of three different scenarios with varying DFIG capacities,access locations,and the replacement of synchronous generators are *** results show that the dynamics of the COI and the individual generators are affected by the integrated DFIGs via different mechanisms,and are sensitive to different variables in the DFIG’s integration condition.

Data-driven Estimation for a Region of Attraction for transient stability Using the Koopman Operator

This paper presents a novel Koopman Operator based framework to estimate the region of attraction for power system transient stability *** Koopman eigenfunctions are used to numerically construct a Lyapunov *** the level set of the function is utilized to estimate the boundary of the region of *** method provides a systematic method to construct the Lyapunov function with data sampled from the state space,which suits any power system models and is easy to use compared to traditional Lyapunov direct *** addition,the constructed Lyapunov function can capture the geometric properties of the region of attraction,thus providing useful information about the instability *** method has been verified by a simple illustrative example and three power system models,including a voltage source converter interfaced system to analyze the large signal synchronizing instability induced by the phase lock loop *** proposed method provides an alternative approach to understanding the geometric properties and estimating the boundary of the region of attraction of power systems in a data driven *** Terms-Koopman operator,lyapunov function,power system transient stability,region of attraction.

Expanding Annular Domain Algorithm to Estimate Domains of Attraction for power system stability Analysis

This paper presents an Expanding Annular Domain(EAD)algorithm combined with Sum of Squares(SOS)programming to estimate and maximize the domain of attraction(DA)of power *** proposed algorithm can systematically construct polynomial Lyapunov functions for power systems with transfer conductance and reliably determine a less conservative approximated DA,which are quite difficult to achieve with traditional *** linear SOS programming,we begin from an initial estimated DA,then enlarge it by iteratively determining a series of so-called annular domains of attraction,each of which is characterized by level sets of two successively obtained Lyapunov ***,the EAD algorithm is theoretically analyzed in detail and its validity and convergence are shown under certain *** the end,our method is tested on two classical power system cases and is demonstrated to be superior to existing methods in terms of computational speed and conservativeness of results.

The novel quantitative assessment method using transmission line measurement was developed. A new style of stability criterion was suggested which is based on the line measurement. The stability indices for lines, cutsets and power system according to features of transient energy in the lines were given, which not only provide a reliable and accurate assessment of the transient stability of power system, but also can be used to assess the effect of lines and cutsets on the transient stability and identify the weak transmission segment. Examples were presented by simulation on the IEEE-39 buses test system.
