This paper proposes an analysis method of power grids vulnerability based on complex networks. The method effectively combines the degree and betweenness of nodes or lines into a new index. Through combination of the two indexes, the new index can help to analyze the vulnerability of power grids. Attacking the line of the new index can obtain a smaller size of the largest cluster and global efficiency than that of the pure degree index or betweenness index. Finally, the fault simulation results of IEEE 118 bus system show that the new index can reveal the vulnerability of power grids more effectively.

This paper presents the part of ＂ power grids, ＂ in which the strategies of developing power grids are put forward.

The installed capacity of a large scale wind power plant will be up to a number of hundreds MW, and the wind power is transmitted to load centers through long distance transmission lines with 220 kV, 500 kV, or 750 kV. Therefore, it is necessary not only considering the power transmission line between a wind power plant and the first connection node of the power network, but also the power network among the group of those wind power plants in a wind power base, the integration network from the base to the existed grids, as well as the distribution and consumption of the wind power generation by loads. Meanwhile, the impact of wind power stochastic fluctuation on power systems must be studied. In recent years, wind power prediction technology has been studied by the utilities and wind power plants. As a matter of fact, some European countries have used this prediction technology as a tool in national power dispatch centers and wind power companies.

Lately,in modern smart power grids,energy demand for accurate forecast of electricity is gaining attention,with increased interest of *** is due to the fact that a good energy demand forecast would lead to proper responses for electricity *** addition,proper energy demand forecast would ensure efficient planning of the electricity industry and is critical in the scheduling of the power grid capacity and management of the entire power *** most power systems are been deregulated and with the rapid introduction and development of smart-metering technologies in Oman,new opportunities may arise considering the efficiency and reliability of the power system;like price-based demand response *** programs could either be a large scale for household,commercial or industrial ***,excellent demand forecasting models are crucial for the deployment of these smart metering in the power grid based on good knowledge of the electricity market ***,in this paper,an overview of the Oman regulatory regime,financial mechanism,price control,and distribution system security standard were *** so,the energy demand forecast in Oman was analysed,using the econometric model to forecasts its energy peak *** energy econometric analysis in this study describes the relationship between the growth of historical electricity consumption and macro-economic parameters(by region,and by tariff),considering a case study of Mazoon Electricity Distribution Company(MZEC),which is one of the major power distribution companies in Oman,for effective energy demand in the power grid.

Ensuring stability and reliability in power systems requires accurate state estimation, which is challenging due to the growing network size, noisy measurements, and nonlinear power-flow equations. In this paper, we introduce the Graph Attention Estimation Network (GAEN) model to tackle power system state estimation (PSSE) by capitalizing on the inherent graph structure of power grids. This approach facilitates efficient information exchange among interconnected buses, yielding a distributed, computationally efficient architecture that is also resilient to cyber-attacks. We develop a thorough approach by utilizing Graph Convolutional Neural Networks (GCNNs) and attention mechanism in PSSE based on Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and Phasor Measurement Unit (PMU) measurements, addressing the limitations of previous learning architectures. In accordance with the empirical results obtained from the experiments, the proposed method demonstrates superior performance and scalability compared to existing techniques. Furthermore, the amalgamation of local topological configurations with nodal-level data yields a heightened efficacy in the domain of state estimation. This work marks a significant achievement in the design of advanced learning architectures in PSSE, contributing and fostering the development of more reliable and secure power system operations.

The Ethiopian Electric power(EEP) has been operating and managing the national interconnected power system with dispersed and geographically isolated generators, a complex transmission system and loads. In recent years, with an increasing load demand due to rural electrification and industrialization, the Ethiopian power system has faced more frequent, widely spread and long lasting blackouts. To slash the occurrence of such incidents, identifying the system vulnerabilities is the first step in this direction. In this paper, the vulnerability assessment is performed using indices called active power performance index(PIp) and voltage performance index(PIv). These indices provide a direct means of comparing the relative severity of the different line outages on the system loads and voltage profiles. Accordingly, it is found that the most severe line outages are those lines that interconnect the high load centered(Addis Ababa and Central regions) with the rest of the regional power systems. In addition, the most vulnerable buses of the network in respect of voltage limit violations are mainly found at the high load centers.

The paper reports quality analysis and evaluation at 6 - 10/0.4 kV low-voltage distribution grids in Uzbekistan. power quality frequently does not correspond to the rated value which is largely due to unbalanced phase loading in grids and which also results in increased power loss. The study of the asymmetrical operating modes of the rural distribution networks of 0.4 kV was conducted in three steps: measurement, calculations and analysis of relevant data;providing practical guidelines and finally, implementing instruments to normalize grid operation. Measuring was conducted using certified instrumentation analyzer “MALIKA” designed by authors. The study and analysis of additional power losses as the function of indicators of asymmetrical features of voltage and current in operating 0.4 kV grids reveals that, quality of electric power at grids under investigation, merely does not meet the requirements of the Interstate Standard.

Germany＇s energy system is in transition towards less nuclear, lower carbon emissions and more renewables. Notwithstanding widespread neglect of its European dimension, this Energiewende will further exacerbate current network fluctuations due to the significant increase in wind and solar power. Key data from Denmark show that this transition will soon bring the German national power system to its limits for absorbing the resulting intermittency, and increase the need for more cross-border power transfers. Yet network analysis of import/export data shows that Germany＇s position in the European power system is contrary to the Danish case. The need for a European solution for Germany＇s energy transition will therefore soon become evident. In order to establish the necessary infrastructure, the Energiewende needs hence to be guided by an economic approach designed to prevent further fractures in the Internal Electricity Market. Constructive negotiations with neighbouring countries on market designs and price signals will be important preconditions. The article emphasizes the still neglected European paradox of Germany＇s energy transition and presents working examples and possible solutions to uphold electricity supply in Europe＇s power house.
