Low-cost portable dielectric spectrometer based on mini-vector network analyzer and open-ended coaxial probe technology

As a simple,fast,and non-destructive measuring technology,dielectric spectroscopy is usually used to analyze the dielectric properties of agricultural products and food,and then to predict the main components of ***,the large and expensive vector network analyzers(VNA)with expensive analysis software applied in measuring dielectric properties make research limited to the *** acquire dielectric spectra in situ,a model for solving relative complex permittivity was derived,and its performance was ***,a low-cost portable dielectric spectrometer with a mini VNA,a Raspberry Pi,and a coaxial probe as core parts was developed over the frequency range of 100-3000 *** stability and accuracy of the developed spectrometer were tested using milk and *** results indicated that the relative errors of the model were within±5%for dielectric constant(ε′)and loss factor(ε″).The coefficients of variation of measuredε′andε″by the developed spectrometer at 100-3000 MHz were less than 1%and 2%,*** with the dielectric properties obtained by using a commercial dielectric measurement system,the relative errors of measuredε′andε″were within±3.4%and±6.0%,*** study makes fast,non-destructive,and on-site food quality detection using dielectric spectra possible.

Cracks,potholes,and other defects often occur on infrastructure such as bridges,among which cracks are one of the most frequent *** have diverse shapes and are difficult to *** manual inspection methods are inefficient and have low accuracy,while automated inspection machines are bulky and inconvenient to carry and *** on the shortcomings of existing detection technologies,this paper proposes a portable structural surface crack detection system based on the Android platform using a portable hand-held image acquisition *** system captures cracks on the structure's surface and obtains high-definition crack ***,these images are transmitted to portable smartphone terminals through ***,the image is pre-processed using weighted averaging,grayscale linear transformation,and adaptive median ***,the improved Canny edge detection algorithm is applied to identify crack information,and the edge segmentation algorithm is used to determine the crack ***,based on camera calibration,the pixels are converted into the length data required for actual *** results show that the system is easy to operate,and it not only has crack storage and tracking functions,but also can effectively measure the crack width on the surface of *** measurement accuracy of this system reaches the sub-pixel level,and in actual testing,compared with the crack width gauge,the maximum relative error does notexceed6.25%.

Web C: toward a portable framework for deploying legacy code in web browsers

For security, most web applications are developed in some type-safe language, such as Java Script or Java. However, there is a huge amount of legacy codes developed in unsafe languages, which provide rich functionality and are more efficient than their type-safe counterparts. To allow browsers to incorporate type-safe components in a secure way, previous approaches use the software-based fault isolation(SFI) to isolate untrusted legacy code. The SFI approach performs machine-code transformation for security, but the downside is the loss of architecture independence. We propose Web C, a system that allows legacy code transmitted over the web via the Low Level Virtual Machine(LLVM) bitcode format. The untrusted bitcode is transformed by Web C into code in the Web C security language, which enforces both memory isolation and control-flow integrity. Compared with previous approaches, Web C is more portable, provides stronger security, and allows more flexible memory management. Experimental results show that the average runtime overhead of Web C is modest.

Impact of intestinal ultrasound with a portable system in the management of Crohn’s disease

Background:Intestinal ultrasound(IUS)is a valid cross-sectional imaging technique for the evaluation of Crohn’s disease(CD).With advancements in technology,portable ultrasound systems are becoming widely available,and the inevitable change to their use by non-radiologist clinicians would be a valuable contribution to improving patient *** study aimed to investigate the diagnostic yield of IUS examination performed by a gastroenterologist with a portable system as an adjunct imaging modality in the routine care of CD ***:A total of 117 CD patients were assessed by IUS ***-and post-IUS clinical-management decisions were *** primary outcome was to evaluate the change in the patients’clinical-management decision following the IUS *** diagnostic accuracy was compared against the reference decision reached via a multidisiplinary meeting after the evaluation of all patient-related *** endoscopic disease activity was determined using the simple endoscopic score for Crohn’s disease(SES-CD).Results:The initial clinical-management decision was changed in 47 patients(40.2%)after the IUS examination(P=0.001).The accuracy of patient-management decisions improved from 63.2%to 90.6%in comparison to reference decisions(Pportable ultrasonography system significantly improves clinicalmanagement *** further supporting data,this practice would possibly become a requirement for CD management.

Wearable sweat sensors with various sensing systems can provide noninvasive medical diagnostics and healthcare ***,we demonstrate a wearable microfluidic nanoplasmonic sensor capable of refreshable and portable recognition fingerprint information of targeted biomarkers including urea,lactate,and pH in sweat.A miniature,thin plasmonic metasurface with homogeneous mushroom-shaped hot spots and high surface-enhanced Raman scattering(SERS)activity is designed and integrated into a microfluidics *** to conventional wearable SERS platforms with the risk of mixed effect between new and old sweat,the microfluidic SERS system allows sweat administration in a controllable and high temporal-resolution fashion,providing refreshable SERS *** use a portable and customized Raman analyzer with a friendly human-machine interface for portable recognition of the spectroscopic signatures of sweat *** study integrates epidermal microfluidics with portable SERS molecular recognition,presenting a controllable,handy,and dynamical biofluid sensing system for personalized medicine.

Accuracy and Electromagnetic Safety Evaluation of a portable Electromagnetic Localization System for Micro Invasive Medical Devices in Vivo

Aiming at localizing the telemetric capsule for detecting gastrointestinal physiological parameters in vivo accurately,a portable alternating current(AC)electromagnetic localization system is *** verify the feasibility of the method,the model and construction of the localization system are *** static and dynamic accuracy of the localization system are tested by ***,we compare the simulating results of the electromagnetic radiation aroused by the localization system with the electromagnetic safety standards of human(ICNIRP guidelines and IEEE standard C95.1-1991).Finally,in terms of the results of the static and dynamic experiments,conclusions are drawn that the accuracy of portable positioning system is high(less than 10 mm)enough to satisfy the localization need of the micro invasive medical devices in vivo,and there is no harm of electromagnetic radiation to human.

portable mixed abrasive water jet equipment for rescue in high gas mine shaft

In order to rescue a trapped miner and clean out roadways quickly in a high gas mine shaft after a mining mishap, a special portable cold-cutting equipment is needed, the main technology parameters were calculated according to the advanced cold-cutting technology of high pressure abrasive water jet and the portable mixed abrasive water jet equipment （PAWE） was designed to meet the needs of emergency rescue in high gas mine shafts. Tested the PAWE in a high gas environment, and the result shows that the maximum cutting depth of solid iron pipe is 18 mm and the recoilforce of the sprayer is 28.9 N under the conditions that actual cutting pressure is 29 MPa, starting target distance is 10 ram, cutting speed is 180 mm/min and concentration of abrasive is 32%. The course of the experiment in the high gas environment was smooth and continuous, without any explosion. The PAWE is easy to move and operate, but the nozzle which was worn badly in the sprayer should be changed every 8 minutes.
