portable Structure Surface Crack Detection System Based on Android Platform

Cracks,potholes,and other defects often occur on infrastructure such as bridges,among which cracks are one of the most frequent defects.They have diverse shapes and are difficult to detect.Traditional manual inspection methods are inefficient and have low accuracy,while automated inspection machines are bulky and inconvenient to carry and use.Based on the shortcomings of existing detection technologies,this paper proposes a portable structural surface crack detection system based on the Android platform using a portable hand-held image acquisition device.The system captures cracks on the structure's surface and obtains high-definition crack images.Then,these images are transmitted to portable smartphone terminals through Wi-Fi.Next,the image is pre-processed using weighted averaging,grayscale linear transformation,and adaptive median filtering.Then,the improved Canny edge detection algorithm is applied to identify crack information,and the edge segmentation algorithm is used to determine the crack width.Finally,based on camera calibration,the pixels are converted into the length data required for actual measurement.The results show that the system is easy to operate,and it not only has crack storage and tracking functions,but also can effectively measure the crack width on the surface of components.The measurement accuracy of this system reaches the sub-pixel level,and in actual testing,compared with the crack width gauge,the maximum relative error does notexceed6.25%.

We read with great interest the paper by Markmann et al.entitled“Impact of portable normothermic blood-based machine perfusion on outcomes of liver transplant:The OCS Liver PROTECT randomized clinical trial”(1).In this multicenter randomized clinical trial,the authors compared posttransplant outcomes for recipients who received donation after brainstem death(DBD)or donation after circulatory death(DCD)livers preserved using ischemic cold storage(ICS)or a portable normothermic machine perfusion(NMP)[Organ Care System(OCS)Liver].The primary endpoint was the incidence of early allograft dysfunction(EAD)as defined by Olthoff et al.criteria(2).The trial was methodologically designed to test both non-inferiority on the primary endpoint,and superiority if non-inferiority was achieved.This study was conducted from 2016 to 2019 at 20 US liver transplant programs.

We developed a novel portable and automated dissolution test analyzer for rapid and high precision in vitro dissolution testing of drugs.The analyzer consists of a flow-through-cell drug dissolution system,an automated sequential sampling system,a high-speed capillary electrophoresis(HSCE)system,and a data acquisition system.Combining the high-temporal resolution flow-gating sampling approach with HSCE,which has outstanding advantages of efficient separation and resolution,the analyzer can achieve rapid analysis and exhibits the ability in miniaturization for on-site assessment of different active pharmaceutical ingredients.To integrate the flow-through-cell dissolution system with HSCE,a specially designed flow-gating-injection(FGI)interface was employed.The performance of the analyzer was investigated by analyzing the dissolution of immediate-release drugs including single dose(amoxicillin dispersible tablets)and fixed dose combination(amoxicillin and clavulanate potassium)drug tablets with the high-temporal resolutions of 12 s and 20 s,respectively.The dissolution profiles of different active pharmaceutical ingredients could be simultaneously and automatically monitored with high repeatability and accuracy.The analyzer was successfully utilized for the pharmaceutical quality control and bio-relevant dissolution testing,as well as in vivo-in vitro correlation analysis.Our portable analyzer is miniaturized,convenient and of low-cost,and will provide a valuable tool for dissolution testing in pharmaceutical research and development.

MEMS ultrasonic transducers for safe,low-power and portable eye-blinking monitoring

Eye blinking is closely related to human physiology and psychology.It is an effective method of communication among people and can be used in human-machine interactions.Existing blink monitoring methods include videooculography,electro-oculograms and infrared oculography.However,these methods suffer from uncomfortable use,safety risks,limited reliability in strong light or dark environments,and infringed informational security.In this paper,we propose an ultrasound-based portable approach for eye-blinking activity monitoring.Low-power pulse-echo ultrasound featuring biosafety is transmitted and received by microelectromechanical system(MEMS)ultrasonic transducers seamlessly integrated on glasses.The size,weight and power consumption of the transducers are 2.5 mm by 2.5 mm,23.3 mg and 71μW,respectively,which provides better portability than conventional methods using wearable devices.Eye-blinking activities were characterized by open and closed eye states and validated by experiments on dfferent volunteers.Finally,real-time eye-blinking monitoring was successfully demonstrated with a response time less than 1 ms.The proposed solution paves the way for ultrasound-based wearable eye-blinking monitoring and offers miniaturization,light weight,low power consumption,high informational security and biosafety.

In this article,we demonstrated a handheld smartphone fluorescence microscope(HSFM)that integrates dualfunctional polymer lenses with a smartphone.The HSFM consists of a smartphone,a field-portable illumination source,and a dual-functional polymer lens that performs both optical imaging and filtering.Therefore,compared with the existing smartphone fluorescence microscope,the HSFM does not need any additional optical filters.Although fluorescence imaging has traditionally played an indispensable role in biomedical and clinical applications due to its high specificity and sensitivity for detecting cells,proteins,DNAs/RNAs,etc.,the bulky elements of conventional fluorescence microscopes make them inconvenient for use in point-of-care diagnosis.The HSFM demonstrated in this article solves this problem by providing a multifunctional,miniature,small-form-factor fluorescence module.This multifunctional fluorescence module can be seamlessly attached to any smartphone camera for both bright-field and fluorescence imaging at cellular-scale resolutions without the use of additional bulky lenses/filters;in fact,the HSFM achieves magnification and light filtration using a single lens.Cell and tissue observation,cell counting,plasmid transfection evaluation,and superoxide production analysis were performed using this device.Notably,this lens system has the unique capability of functioning with numerous smartphones,irrespective of the smartphone model and the camera technology housed within each device.As such,this HSFM has the potential to pave the way for realtime point-of-care diagnosis and opens up countless possibilities for personalized medicine.

Public bulletin boards are widely used in various public places,but due to the large size of the billboards,it is not easy to carry,and the traditional billboards are integrated,when the billboards need to be transferred,the limited storage space of the vehicle needs to be occupied It is extremely inconvenient,and at night,the traditional bulletin boards need to install additional light sources to illuminate them,which greatly increases energy consumption.Based on this paper designed a new structure of the bulletin board,this structure can make the bulletin board when not in use completely folded up and easy to carry,and in use can be completely unfolded and in the bottom of the added retractable support leg structure can be placed anywhere,and according to the terrain or human will to adjust the height.A solar panel is placed on the top of the bulletin board,which can store solar energy during the day and supply energy to the LED lights on the top at night for lighting,which saves energy and is very environmentally friendly.

Web C: toward a portable framework for deploying legacy code in web browsers

For security, most web applications are developed in some type-safe language, such as Java Script or Java. However, there is a huge amount of legacy codes developed in unsafe languages, which provide rich functionality and are more efficient than their type-safe counterparts. To allow browsers to incorporate type-safe components in a secure way, previous approaches use the software-based fault isolation(SFI) to isolate untrusted legacy code. The SFI approach performs machine-code transformation for security, but the downside is the loss of architecture independence. We propose Web C, a system that allows legacy code transmitted over the web via the Low Level Virtual Machine(LLVM) bitcode format. The untrusted bitcode is transformed by Web C into code in the Web C security language, which enforces both memory isolation and control-flow integrity. Compared with previous approaches, Web C is more portable, provides stronger security, and allows more flexible memory management. Experimental results show that the average runtime overhead of Web C is modest.

Thermoacoustic imaging:From single-element scanning to portable and array-based imaging

The microwave-induced thermoacoustic imaging(TAI)technology has both the advantages of high contrast of microwave imaging and high resolution of ultrasound imaging(UI),so it has carried out exploratory application research in various areas,such as the early detection of breast tumors and cerebrovascular diseases.However,the microwave generator used in the traditional TAI technology is huge and expensive,and the temporal resolution is also too low due to the single-element scanning mechanism.Thus,it is difficult to meet the needs of clinical applications.In this paper,the iterative process and the analysis of related application scenarios from single-element scanning to portable and array-based TAI,such as the miniaturized microwave generator,handheld antenna,multi-channel data acquisition,and UI/TAI􀀁dual-modality imaging,are reviewed,and the future trends of this technology are discussed.This review helps researchers in the field of TAI learn the technological development process and future trends.It also deepens clinicians’understanding of TAI so as to put forward more application requirements.

Design and Research of a portable Tool for Assisting Elderly People Walking

Based on the serious aging of our country′s population,starting from the impact on the quality of life of the elderly,this paper first analyzes the factors affecting the lives of the elderly,and makes predictions based on my country′s elderly care industry market.After research,a portable tool for assisting elderly people walking is designed,in which electric drive,steering mechanism and seat functions are added by ordinary auxiliary walking tools.Users can sit down and ride when they are tired,mainly including seats and walking functions.The characteristics of its users and various influencing factors are analyzed.The research results can guide the solution of the current portable tools that assist the elderly in walking.

Development of portable user-interactive holographic information collector for agricultural product markets

The efficient and accurate collection of agricultural product market information serves as the basis for the effective regulation of agricultural product markets.To achieve a comprehensive,accurate,and timely collection of agricultural product market information,this study puts forth a technique for collecting holographic information of agricultural product markets.A portable human-machine interaction device with an Advanced RISC(reduced instruction set computer)Machines(ARM)-based processor as the core is developed.Holographic information such as agricultural product market trading time,trading place,product name,price,and trading volume can be collected.Via embedded technology and component technology,innovative agricultural product market positioning,and matching,standardized collection,and data processing,and in combination with intelligent algorithms for analysis and early warning,a mobile application terminal for information collection is developed,namely,a holographic information collector for agricultural product markets(named Nongxincai).By using a layered structure,the hardware integrates microprocessor,storage,power,application and communication interface,and human-machine interaction modules.The device has the advantages of miniaturization,the whole-machine power consumption of less than 0.5 W,and continuous operating time of at least 10 h.A supporting software system for Nongxincai has also been developed,in which Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.5 is employed as the operating system,and the CPU frequency is up to 600 MHz.This configuration fully meets the computing requirements of map processing and large-volume data processing and has high compatibility.Nongxincai has been popularized and applied in 12 provinces/municipalities in China.It has played an important role in the monitoring and early warning of different varieties of agricultural products and target prices of soybean and cotton.
