This study investigates the suction and magnetic field effects on the two-dimensional nanofluid flow through a stretching/shrinking sheet at the stagnation point in the porous medium with thermal *** governing partial differential equations(PDEs)are converted into ordinary differential equations(ODEs)using the similarity *** resulting ODEs are then solved numerically by using the bvp4c solver in MATLAB *** was found that dual solutions exist for the shrinking parameter values up to a certain *** numerical results obtained are compared,and the comparison showed a good agreement with the existing results in the *** governing parameters’effect on the velocity,temperature and nanoparticle fraction fields as well as the skin friction coefficient,the local Nusselt number and the Sherwood number are represented graphically and *** variation of the velocity,temperature and concentration increase with the increase in the suction and magnetic field *** seems that the thermal radiation effect has increased the local Sherwood number while the local Nusselt number is reduced with it.

Peristaltic flow of couple stress fluid through uniform porous medium

Investigation concerning peristaltic motion of couple stress fluid is made. An incompressible couple stress fluid occupies the porous medium. Mathematical anal- ysis is presented through large wavelength and low Reynolds number. Exact analytical expressions of axial velocity, volume flow rate, pressure gradient, and stream function are calculated as a function of couple stress parameter. The essential feature of the analysis is a full description of influence of couple stress parameter and permeability parameter on the pressure, frictional force, mechanical efficiency, and trapping.

Effects of Thermal Radiation on a 3D Sisko Fluid over a porous medium Using Cattaneo-Christov Heat Flux Model

This paper investigates the three-dimensional flow of a Sisko fluid over a bidirectional stretching sheet, in a porous medium. By using the effect of Cattaneo-Christov heat flux model, heat transfer analysis is illustrated. Using similarity transformation the governing partial differential equations are transferred into a system of ordinary differential equations that are solved numerically by applying Nachtsheim-Swigert shooting iteration technique along with the 6-th order Runge-Kutta integration scheme. The effect of various physical parameters such as Sisko fluid, ratio parameter,thermal conductivity, porous medium, radiation parameter, Brownian motion, thermophoresis, Prandtl number, and Lewis number are graphically represented.

Rheological behavior of hydrolyzed polyacrylamide solution flowing through a molecular weight adjusting device with porous medium

The separate-layer injection in different interlayers and the injection of the same-molecular-weight polymer so- lution in a layer are necessary in the polymer flooding process because of heterogeneous multilayer sandstone reservoirs in EOR projects. To alleviate the matching problems between the layer permeability and the injected polymer molecular weight, a molecular weight adjusting device with porous medium was designed on the basis of mechanical degradation principle. In terms of four variables （polymer concentration, pore diameter, length of shear component and flow rate ）, the theological behavior of hydrolyzed polyacrylamide （HPAM） solu- tion flowing through the device was investigated in detail. The change of these variables is able to control the shear rate of HPAM solutions through ceramic foam, and achieve the desired degree of shear degradation and the final theological parameters-viscosity loss, viscoelasticity and pressure drop. Therefore, a linear relationship between viscosity loss and shearing rate was established so as to obtain the targeted viscosity easily. Field tests in the Daqing Oil Field showed that the polymer molecular weight could drop 20% to 50%. In a word, the results could guide the industrial application of the novel device and the further study of polymer degradation flowing through the porous medium.

TEMPERATURE PROFILES OF LOCAL THERMAL NONEQUILIBRIUM FOR THERMAL DEVELOPING FORCED CONVECTION IN porous medium PARALLEL PLATE CHANNEL

Based on the two-energy equation model, taking into account viscous dissipation due to the interaction between solid skeleton and pore fluid flow, temperature expressions of the solid skeleton and pore fluid flow are obtained analytically for the thermally developing forced convection in a saturated porous medium parallel plate channel, with walls being at constant temperature. It is proved that the temperatures of the two phases for the local thermal nonequilibrium approach to the temperature derived from the one-energy equation model for the local thermal equilibrium when the heat exchange coefficient goes to infinite. The temperature profiles are shown in figures for different dimensionless parameters and the effects of the parameters on the local thermal nonequilibrium are revealed by parameter study.

THREE DIMENSIONAL SIMULATION OF UNSTABLE IMMISCIBLEDISPLACEMENT IN THE porous medium

In this study changes of uncontinuous potential functions at the interface were used to simulate the immiscible displacement in porous media. The elliptic partial differential equation was changed to a seven-point molecule form algebraic equation in three dimensions using the finite difference method. The strongly implicit procedure was adopted to determine the potential functions at every tone instant. Then the change of interface was determined. The simulation was continued until the displacement changed to unstable state. The effect of capillary pressure, wetting property, and nonuniformity of permeability were considered.

Dufour and Soret effects on MHD flow of viscous fluid between radially stretching sheets in porous medium

The aim of this paper is two-dimensional magnetohydrodynamic viscous fluid bounded by infinite sheets to examine the Dufour and Soret effects on the （MHD） steady flow of an electrically conducting An incompressible viscous fluid fills the porous space. The mathematical analysis is performed in the presence of viscous dissipation, Joule heating, and a first-order chemical reaction. With suitable transformations, the governing partial differential equations through momentum, energy, and concentration laws are transformed into ordinary differential equations. The resulting equations are solved by the homotopy analysis method （HAM）. The convergence of the series solutions is ensured. The effects of the emerging parameters, the skin friction coefficient, the Nusselt number, and the Sherwood number are analyzed on the dimensionless velocities, temperature, and concentration fields.

Analysis of thermal responses in a two-dimensional porous medium caused by pulse heat flux

In this article, the generalized model for thermoelastic waves with two relaxation times is utilized to compute the increment of temperature, the displacement components, the stress components, and the changes in the volume fraction field in a two-dimensional porous medium. By using the Fourier-Laplace transform and the eigenvalue method, the considered variables are obtained analytically. The derived approach is estimated with numerical outcomes which are applied to the porous media with a geometrical simplification. The numerical results for the considered variables are performed and presented graphically. Finally, the outcomes are represented graphically to display the difference among the classical dynamical(CD) coupled, the Lord-Shulman(LS), and the Green-Lindsay(GL) models.

Analysis of a Stagnation Point Flow with Hybrid Nanoparticles over a porous medium

The unsteady stagnation-point flow of a hybrid nanofluid over a stretching/shrinking sheet embedded in a porous medium with mass transpiration and chemical reactions is *** momentum and mass transfer problems are combined to form a system of partial differential equations,which is converted into a set of ordinary differential equations via similarity *** ordinary differential equations are solved analytically to obtain the solution for velocity and concentration profiles in exponential and hypergeometric forms,*** concentration profile is obtained for four different cases namely constant wall concentration,uniform mass flux,general power law wall con-centration and general power law mass *** effect of different physical parameters such as Darcy number Da^(1-1),mass transpiration parameter V_(C),stretching/shrinking parameter (d),chemical reaction parameter(β)and Schmidt number (Sc)on velocity and concentration profile is *** show that,the axial velocity will decreases as the shrinking sheet parameter increases,regardless of whether the suction or injection case is *** concentration decreases with an increase in the shrinking sheet parameter and the chemical reaction rate parameter.
