A new three-dimensional coordination polymer composed of Cu2+ centres and semiquinoid linkers (dhbq(2-)) was synthesized which was composed by two independent, enantiomeric, interpenetrated [Cu-2(dhbq)(3)](2-) networks with (10,3)-a topology. The compound has good water stability and typical behaviors of semiconductor, whose conductivity increases along with raising temperature. The chemiresistive humidity sensor made from this material shows good properties including linear sensitivity, high response, fast response and recovery, and particularly narrow hysteresis during humidity adsorption and desorption.

A new organic-inorganic hetero-coordination polymer with three different kinds of ligands [Co(4,4'-bpy)(NCS)2(py)2]n is synthesized in the extremely mild condition. The X-ray diffraction reveals that the title polymer has a highly tactic three-dimensional cagelike supramolecular structure. Although the coordination bond makes it a one-dimension chain, the hydrogen bond plays an important role in the formation of 3-D supramolecular frameworks. The determination of magnetic properties has been carried out, and shows that it behaves weak antiferromagnetic property with J(4,4' -bpy) = -3.8 cm-1.

A novel Cd(II) coordination polymer with diacylhydrazide ligand N,N΄-bis(3-methoxysalicyl)-2,6-pyridinedicarbohydrazide (H6msphz), [Cd2(H2msphz)(Py)4]n(1, Py = pyridine) has been synthesized through solvothermal reaction and structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, IR, TGA and PXRD investigations. It crystallizes in triclinic system, space group P1, with a = 11.0230(11), b = 11.7264(15), c = 17.3395(14) Å, α = 70.520(9), β = 84.806(7), γ = 81.965(9)°, V = 2089.9(4) Å3, Dc= 1.638 g cm–3, μ = 1.083 mm-1, F(000) = 1032, Z = 2 and S = 1.040. In complex 1, the H2msphz4-ligand uses not only its coordinated pocket to catch one Cd(II) ion, but also its two terminal groups to chelate other two Cd(II) ions, leading to the formation of a chain structure. The adjacent chains are further assembled together by two kinds of π-π interactions between the Py rings, resulting in the finial double layered supramolecular structure. In addition, complex 1 is found to show photoluminescence in the solid state at room temperature, which can be ascribed to the intraligand π→π* transitions.

A new 1D copper(II) polymer [Cu(Hpt)(3,5-DMBA)]nhas been hydrothermally synthesized with copper acetate, 3-(pyridin-2-yl)-1,2,4-triazole(Hpt) and 3,5-dimethylbenzoic acid (3,5-DMBA). It crystallizes in triclinic space group P1, with a = 8.1974(6), b = 8.3280(6), c = 12.5021(9) Å, α = 84.3320(10), β = 71.8870(10), γ= 65.4560(10)º, V = 737.44(9) Å3, Dc= 1.612 g/cm3, Z = 2, F(000) = 366, GOOF = 1.035, R = 0.0298 and wR = 0.0855. The crystal structure is a one-dimensional (1-D) chain in which the Cu(II) is five-coordinated with square pyramidal geometry. The crystal structure shows that the whole molecule consists of two copper ions bridged by two μ2-η1:η0-3,5-dimethylbenzoic acid anions and two 3-(pyridin-2-yl)-1,2,4-triazole molecules. The coordination environment of Cu(II) ion is CuO2N3. The luminescence and thermal properties of the complex were investigated.

A Novel Three-dimensional Mn(II) Coordination polymer Constructed from Biphenyl-3,3?,5,5?-tetracarboxylic Acid and Water

The title Mn(II) coordination polymer, poly{[heptaaqua-(μ4-bi-phenyl-3,3΄,5,5΄-tetracarboxylate)-bimanganese(II)] pentahydrate}, [Mn2(bpta)(H2O)7]n·5nH2O (I), is crystallized from a mixture of biphenyl-3,3΄,5,5΄-tetracarboxylic acid (H4bpta) and MnCl2·4H2O in waterethanol under room temperature. Its asymmetric unit consists of one and two halves of crystallographically independent Mn(II) cations, one fully deprotonated H4bpta ligand, seven coordinated water molecules and five solvent water as guest molecules. In I, each Mn(II) atom is octahedrally coordinated by six oxygen atoms from bpta4-anions and coordinated water molecules. In the Mn(II) cations, one half Mn(II) ion of them located at a 2-fold axis generating a trinuclear [Mn3(H2O)2(RCOO)2] linker by μ1,1-O(water) and μ1,3-O,O΄(carboxylate) bridges and another half Mn(II) ion with an inversion is a mononuclear linker. These neighbouring trinuclear and mononuclear Mn(II) cations are linked together by biphenyl-3,3΄,5,5΄-tetracarboxylates to form a three-dimensional framework with a (42.84) topology of a (4,4)-connected net, in which the positions of the trinuclear [Mn3(H2O)2(R-COO)2] linker as a 4-connector linking four bpta4-ligands in I reproduce an eagle-shaped arrangement. The polymeric structure exhibits a water channel with an accessible void of 797.1 Å3, amounting to 15.7% of the total unit-cell volume. Each of the cavities in the network is occupied by solvent water molecules.

A new dinuclear Y3+coordination polymer{[Y2(H2O)2(C14H8O4)3(C12H8N2)2]·3H2O}n(1, C14H8O4= 2,2΄-biphenyldicarboxylate, phen = 1,10-phenanthroline), has been obtained by means of a mixed-solvothermal method using ethylene glycol and water as solvent. The compound was characterized by elemental analysis, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), IR spectrum and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The results reveal that 1 belongs to monoclinic system, space groupC2/cwitha= 24.249(3),b= 12.069(48),c= 22.7304(08) Å,β= 113.480(7)°,Z= 4,V= 6102(2) Å3,Dc= 1.462 g∙cm-3,F(000) = 2728,μ= 1.968 mm-1, the finalR= 0.0673,wR= 0.1508 andS= 1.085. Its structure can be regarded as a 1-Dcoordination polymer constructed by Y3+cations, 2,2΄-biphenyldicarboxylate, 1,10-phenanthroline and water molecules. The compound not only contains two kinds of organic ligands, but also exhibits interesting wave-like infinite chains and 18-MR windows with the diameter of 4.070(7)Å × 5.326(9)Å. The structure is further stabilized by means of O–H···O hydrogen bonds andπ-πstacking interactions. Furthermore, the luminescent properties (including emission spectrum, CIE chromaticity coordinate and decay curve) of 1 were also investigated in the solid-state at room temperature.

A new 2D (two-dimensional) coordination polymer, [Fe(μ4-bta)o.5(phen)(OH)]n (1), has been hydrothermally synthesized with FeCl3 6H2, Na4bta (h4bta = 1,2,4,5-benzentetracarboxylic acid), 1,10-phen (1,10-phenanthroline) and H2O as raw materials. The crystals of the compound belong to monoclinic P21/n space group, a = 1.0129(2) nm, b = 0.9265(2) nm, c = 1.5696(3) nm, β=91.37(3)°V=1.4721(5) nm3,Z=3, final R1=0.0292, wR 2=0.0798 for 2572 [/>2σ(/)] observed reflections. The result of structure determination shows that in the compound each bta ligand is connected with four Fe3, forming a new μ4-coordination mode. Four deprotonated carboxylic groups of bta link to Fe3 ions alternatively through monodentate and bidentate coordination fashion, constructing 2D layer network. The measurement of variable temperature magnetic susceptibility indicates that there exist antiferromagnetic interactions between Fe3 ions in the compound. The TGA spectrum displays relatively fine thermal stability of the compound. In addition, IR and UV-Vis spectra of compound 1 have also been measured.

Copper-zinc heterometallic 1D chain coordination polymer has been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, and IR spectra etc. The crystal structure was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses. The title complex is 1D chain coordination polymer with the chemical formula {[CuLZn·CuLZn(H2O)]·H2O}n, where H4L=N-(2-hydroxybenzamido)-N’-(3-carboxy- lsalicylidene)ethylenediamine. Its structural unit is comprosed of two tetranuclear cycles formed by two dissymmetrical tetranuclear units. These units polymerized each other to form 1D chain coordi- nation polymer.

The paper describes the fabrication of polypyrrole (PPy) microstructures through patterned self-assembled film guided electrodeposition. Thus the patterned self-assembled monolayer is prepared by microcontact printing (μCP) and used as the template in the electrodeposition of PPy. It has been found that the self-assembled monolayer plays completely different roles on different substrates in directing the deposition of the PPy. Namely, the electrodeposition mainly occurs on the exposed area of the gold substrates patterned with dodecanethiol (DDT) and octadecanelthiol (ODT) and on the indium tin oxide (ITO) substrate patterned with octadecyltrichlorosilane (OTS), while PPy nucleates on the OTS covered area and no deposition is found on the exposed area of a semiconductor substrate (silicon). This is attributed to the co-operative effect between the substrate conductivity and the compatibility of the PPy oligomerwith the covered or exposed area of the substrate surface.

A novel two-dimensional network manganese(Ⅱ) polymer complex [Mn(O2CCH2CI)2-(phen)]n has been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis and IR spectrum. The crystal structure of title complex has also been determined, which is in monoclinic of a space group P21/c with the following unit cell parameters at 294K: a=1.9738(4) nm, b =1.1384(2) nm, c =0.74915(14) nm, V =1.6795(5) nm3, Z= 2.
