Based on the molecular recognition ability of conductive polymer and the peculiar properties of carbon nanotubes, a novel single wall nanotubes (SWNTs) compound poly(4- aminopyridine) modified electrode (SWNTs/POAPE) is prepared at glass carbon electrode (GCE). The electrochemistry response of nitrophenol isomers is studied at the SWNTs/POAPE. The re-sult indicates that o-, m- and p-nitrophenol are separated entirely at the SWNTs/POAPE interface. The electrode present here can be easily used to determine nitrophenol isomers simultaneously with higher sensitivity.

The chain M-(A)_n-N or ring obtained by bonding n number of A’s with the same chemical structure in the same way is called the poly-unit molecule. Jiang Mingqian has discovered the famous homologous linear law for the poly-unit chain. Xu Guangxian and Li Lemin have studied its quantum-chemical basis and put forward the new linear factor.In order to study further the basic quantum chemistry of the homologous linear law, it is necessary to have first a thorough knowledge of the orbital characteristics of the polyunit molecules. The author studied the orbitals and the energy levels of poly-unit molecules by using difference equations. Based on the past work the concept of phase points of orbital was established, and the rule of distribution of phase points was developed as well. It is found that the phase points of similar orbitals in the molecules of a homologous series appear to condense around a certain point. Based on this fact a theoretical proof of the homologous linear law was made.

Using methyl triethoxysilicane as precursor, a moisture-resistant coating for neodymium-doped laser glass was developed by the sol-gel process. Colloidal silica was added in coating solution as modifier. The refractive index of this coating varied from 1.31 to 1.42. A porous antireflective （AR） silica coating with the index of 1.27 was coated on the moisture-resistant coating surface. The two-layer coating possessed transmission up to 99.1% at wavelength of 966 nm, surface root-mean-square （RMS） roughaess of 1.245 am, and roughness of average （RA） of 0.961 am. In the case of laser of 1053-nm laser waveleilgth and 1-ns pulse duration, the damage threshold of the two-layer coatings was more than 15 J/cm^2.

Metal ions play important roles in the biological functions of nucleic adds. It is of importance to the life sciences to investigate the reaction of nucleic acids with metal ions. In the note the interaction of double-stranded helical structure nucleic acid, polyinosinic acid: polycytidylic acid （poly （I:C）） with Cu2+ is studied by means of absorption spectra, circular dichroism, fluorescent spectra, melting and cooling curves, acid titration curves and ethidium bromide fluorescent probe. The results show that Cu2+ breaks the hydrogen-bonded structure of poly （I: C）, and the poly （I: C） untwisting induced by Cu2+ is un-reversible and the apparent binding constant of poly （I: C） with Cu2+ is 1.23×104

Liquid organosilane polmers have been synthesized by sodium coupling of diorganodichloro-silanes with diphenylmethylchlorosilane in toluene. These polysilanes can be formed into desiredshape by potting, casting or coating and crosslinked under ultraviolet irradiation in the presenceof multifunctional vi?ylsilanes. The molecular weight distributions, infra-red, ultraviolet andnuclear magnetic resonance spectra for the organosilane polymers have been described.

The controlled release of two kinds of drugs,5-fluorouracil (5-FU) and hydrocortisonum (Hydro.) loaded in poly(ethylene-vinylalcohol) (EVAL) was dealt with,of which 5-FU/EVAL and Hydro /EVAL matrix systems are composed.The results were analyzed using the pseudo-steady-diffusion models coupled with the fundamental concepts of percolation theory.The percolation thresholds for the two systems were calculated,which could indicate the contributions of pore diffusion and matrix diffusion.

A synthetical equation is proposed to characterize the essential features of the inverse "S" type curve on the oasis of summing-up simulation approach of "S" type curve.The two physical variables in the model obtained are discussed and the detailed method used to determine the parameters is given.The model is then presented to describe the crystallization of poly(caryleher ether ketone) (PEEK) and thermal decomposition of poly (amide-imide) (PAl) respectively.It is found that some thermal characteristic parameters can be well estimated from the model simulated in computer.
