Dear editor,Most superior mesenteric artery (SMA) dissections occuralongwithaorticdissections;isolatedSMA dissectionsarerare(incidencerateof0.06%).[1] A diagnosis of SMA dissection is generally made using contrast-enhancedcomputedtomography(CECT);however, bedside point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS)may hasten the process. Herein, we present a case series of isolated SMA dissections that were suspected and confirmed using POCUS and CECT, respectively.

1 Introduction Deep neural networks have exhibited excellent performance in supervised tasks on point clouds,such as classification,segmentation[1]and registration[2].In supervised learning schemes,manual labeling of massive point clouds is needed for model training.However,point clouds captured from different scenarios exist inevitable distribution discrepancy,and model trained from one domain always generalize badly in another domain.To reduce the doamin distribution discrepancy,many studies[3–6]have emerged for point cloud unsupervised domain adaptation(UDA)by learning domain-invariant features,where[5]proposed using adaptive nodes to align the local features between the source and the target domains[3,4],and[6]proposed utilizing self-supervised tasks to help capture highly transferable feature representations.

With the rapid development of computer vision,point clouds technique was widely used in practical applications,such as obstacle detection,roadside detection,smart city construction,etc.However,how to efficiently identify the large scale point clouds is still an open challenge.For relieving the large computation consumption and low accuracy problem in point cloud classification,a large scale point cloud classification framework based on light bottle transformer(light-Bot Net)is proposed.Firstly,the two-dimensional(2D)and three-dimensional(3D)feature values of large scale point cloud were extracted for constructing point cloud feature images,which employed the prior knowledge to normalize the point cloud features.Then,the feature images are input to the classification network,and the light-Bot Net network is applied for point cloud classification.It is an interesting attempt to combine the traditional image features with the transformer network.For proving the performance of the proposed method,the large scale point cloud benchmark Oakland 3D is utilized.In the experiments,the proposed method achieved 98.1%accuracy on the Oakland 3D dataset.Compared with the other methods,it can both reduce the memory consumption and improve the classification accuracy in large scale point cloud classification.

Acquired drug resistance is the major reason why patients fail to respond to cancer therapies.It is a challenging task to deter.mine the tipping point of endocrine resistance and detect the associated molecules.Derived from new systems biology theory, the dynamic network biomarker (DNB) method is designed to quantitatively identify the tipping point of a drastic system transition and can theoretically identify DNB genes that play key roles in acquiring drug resistance.We analyzed time-course mRNA sequence data generated from the tamoxifen-treated estrogen receptor (ER)-positive MCF-7 cell line, and identified the tipping point of endocrine resistance with its leading molecules.The results show that there is interplay between gene mutations and DNB genes, in which the accumulated mutations eventually affect the DNB genes that subsequently cause the change of transcriptional landscape, enabling full-blown drug resistance. Survival analyses based on clinical datasets validated that the DNB genes were associated with the poor survival of breast cancer patients.The results provided the detection for the pre-resistance state or early signs of endocrine resistance.Our predictive method may greatly benefit the scheduling of treatments for complex diseases in which patients are exposed to considerably different drugs and may become drug resistant.

Optical Character Recognition is the mechanical or electronic conversion of images of typed,handwritten or printed text into machine-encoded text for online reading and study.In this OCR technique,Tamil handwritten character recognition is one of the most needed and challengeable subjects of research.An encounter between selection and extraction of proper features eliminates the issues faced by the Tamil handwritten recognition.The character and the writers complexities are the major difficulties and challenges faced by this recognition system.Eventually,the character complexity can be overcome by any pre-extraction or selection process,wherein,structured or statistical pre-extraction algorithm can be designed,discovering the essential features,in the case of writer difficulties.The challenges of Tamil handwritten characters are structure over looping;unnecessary character portion;structure discontinuations and so on.The character portions in this research are chosen by implementing a new algorithm called the Junction point Elimination(JPE)after conscientious analysis done on the existing algorithms like Zoning,Zoning and Junction point(ZJP)and the Junction point (JP) based feature pre-extraction process.The novelty behind this work is introducing an algorithm in order to truncate the problem in the existing feature selection and preextraction algorithms.Suitable feature extraction and classification algorithm are chosen and applied on the features extracted by JPE to test whether the same can be reached in successful manner.The final analysis and experiments shows that the JPE is better than the others.

BACKGROUND Diabetic kidney disease(DKD)is a common complication of diabetes.The patient’s prognosis is poor once DKD progresses to advanced stage.Accurate diagnosis and timely treatment of early DKD are important for improving patient’s prognosis and reducing mortality.AIM To explore the value of elastography point quantification(ElastPQ)in improving the accuracy of early DKD diagnosis.METHODS A total of 69 patients with type 2 diabetes were recruited from Naval Military Medical University Affiliated Gongli Hospital.Patients were divided into early DKD group and medium DKD group according to pathological results and urinary albumin excretion rate(UAER).Another 40 patients with simple diabetes were included as the diabetes group.The baseline data,laboratory diagnostic indicators,and ultrasound indicators for each patient were recorded.The differences of the indicators in the three groups were compared.Multivariate logistic regression was used to analyze the influencing factors of the development from simple diabetes into early DKD and from early DKD into medium DKD.Receiver operating characteristic analyses of potential indicators in identifying early DKD and medium DKD,and early DKD and simple diabetes were established.RESULTS Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that UAER(P0.9].The accuracy of UAER(AUC=0.744),diabetes duration(AUC=0.757),and renocortical YM(AUC=0.782)for the diagnosis of early DKD and simple diabetes were limited.However,the combined diagnosis of UAER,diabe

Effect of coiling and annealing temperatures on yield point behavior of low-carbon steel

Low-carbon steel is widely used for household appliance and automotive panel steel because of its excellent plasticity.Unfortunately,yield point phenomena easily appear in the low-carbon steel produced by a continuous annealing process and cause degradation to the surface quality during processing.The effect of the coiling temperature(600-750℃)and annealing temperature(740-820℃)on the yield point behavior is studied.Tensile tests show that coiling temperature has a greater effect on yield point elongation(YPE)and aging index(AI)than the annealing temperature.Microstructure observations show that coiling temperature at 750℃would make the micron-sized carbides appearing at the grain boundary disappear and a number of dispersed nanoscale carbides precipitate in grain interior,corresponding to the highest solid solution carbon content in the matrix of 750℃coiled sample.The experimental results suggest that AI rather than YPE has a positive relationship with the solid solution carbon content of the low-carbon steel.And YPE has a positive relationship with the upper/lower yield strength.

The iterative closest point(ICP)algorithm has the advantages of high accuracy and fast speed for point set registration,but it performs poorly when the point set has a large number of noisy outliers.To solve this problem,we propose a new affine registration algorithm based on correntropy which works well in the affine registration of point sets with outliers.Firstly,we substitute the traditional measure of least squares with a maximum correntropy criterion to build a new registration model,which can avoid the influence of outliers.To maximize the objective function,we then propose a robust affine ICP algorithm.At each iteration of this new algorithm,we set up the index mapping of two point sets according to the known transformation,and then compute the closed-form solution of the new transformation according to the known index mapping.Similar to the traditional ICP algorithm,our algorithm converges to a local maximum monotonously for any given initial value.Finally,the robustness and high efficiency of affine ICP algorithm based on correntropy are demonstrated by 2D and 3D point set registration experiments.

The room temperature liquid metal(LM)is recently emerging as a new class of versatile materials with fascinating characteristics mostly originated from its simultaneous metallic and liquid natures.The melting point is a typical parameter to describe the peculiarity of LM,and a pivotal factor to consider concerning its practical applications such as phase change materials(PCMs)and advanced thermal management.Therefore,the theoretical exploration into the melting point of LM is an essential issue,which can be of special value for the design of new LM materials with desired properties.So far,some available strategies such as molecular dynamics(MD)simulation and classical thermodynamic theory have been applied to perform correlative analysis.This paper is primarily dedicated to performing a comprehensive overview regarding typical theoretical strategies on analyzing the melting points.It,then,presents evaluations on several factors like components,pressure,size and supercooling that may be critical for melting processes of liquid metal.After that,it discusses applications associated with the characteristic of low melting points of LM.It is expected that a great many fundamental and practical works are to be conducted in the coming future.

BACKGROUND: point-of-care ultrasound has gained widespread use in developing countries due to decreased cost and improved telemedicine capabilities. Ultrasound training, specifi cally image acquisition skills, is occurring with more frequency in non-medical personnel with varying educational levels in these underdeveloped areas. This study evaluates if students without a high school education can be trained to acquire useful FAST images, and to determine if an 8^(th) grade student can teach peers these skills.METHODS: The 8^(th) grade students at a small middle school were divided into two groups. One group received training by a certified medical sonographer, while the other group received training by a peer 8^(th) grade student trainer who had previously received training by the sonographer. After training, each student was independently tested by scanning the four FAST locations. A blinded ultrasound expert evaluated these images and deemed each image adequate or inadequate for clinical use.RESULTS: Eighty video image clips were obtained. The overall image adequacy rate was 74%. The splenorenal window had the highest rate at 95%, followed by retrovesical at 90%, hepatorenal at 75%, and subxiphoid cardiac at 35%. The adequacy rate of the sonographer-trained group was 78%, while the adequacy rate of the student-trained group was 70%. The difference in image adequacy rate between the two groups was not signifi cant(P-value 0.459).CONCLUSION: The majority of 8^(th) graders obtained clinically adequate FAST images after minimal training. Additionally, the student-trained group performed as well as the sonographer-trained group.
