Hot charge carriers(HC)are photoexcited electrons and holes that exist in nonequilibrium high-energy states of photoactive materials.Prolonged cooling time and rapid extraction are the current challenges for the development of future innovative HC-based optoelectronic devices,such as HC solar cells(HCSCs),hot energy transistors(HETs),HC photocatalytic reactors,and lasing devices.Based on a thorough analysis of the basic mechanisms of HC generation,thermalization,and cooling dynamics,this review outlines the various possible strategies to delay the HC cooling as well as to speed up their extraction.Various materials with slow cooling behavior,including perovskites and other semiconductors,are thoroughly presented.In addition,the opportunities for the generation of plasmon-induced HC through surface plasmon resonance and their technological applications in hybrid nanostructures are discussed in detail.By judiciously designing the plasmonic nanostructures,the light coupling into the photoactive layer and its optical absorption can be greatly enhanced as well as the successful conversion of incident photons to HC with tunable energies can also be realized.Finally,the future outlook of HC in optoelectronics is highlighted which will provide great insight to the research community.

State Highway 35 (SH35) connects Opotiki to Gisborne along the Raukumara Peninsula in the North Island, New Zealand. This corridor passes through an area which is prone to landslides, especially during the wet season. This, in turn, influences the traffic and has detrimental effects to the local economy, as it is dependent mainly on tourism and commercial transportation by road. This paper will focus on the landslides which occurred between June and September 2018, within the Bay of plenty East on the north side of the Raukumara Peninsula. The paper will analyze both the nature and triggering mechanisms behind these landslides. As the landslides occur in the wet season, rainfall has been commonly considered the main trigger. However, the paper will argue that vehicle vibrations have been contributing to the instability of the slopes within the Bay of plenty East. This paper will be instrumental in developing future transportation strategies in this part of the North Island.

Chinese Oil Companies(COCs)have made fruitful achievements in their overseas oil and gas activities in multiple key fields worldwide over the past 29 years.In 2021,the overseas equity production of oil and gas totaled 1.61×10^(8) tons of oil equivalent top three COCs(CNPC,Sinopec,and CNOOC).To achieve carbon peaking and carbon neutrality,as well as national energy security,it is vital to acquire all the more overseas oil and gas resources;meanwhile,there are plenty of challenges ahead,such as complex geopolitics,shrinking exploration blocks,limited remaining reserves,the fast natural decline of annual production,difficult asset optimization,and weakness in deep-water technologies.By benchmarking with the major international oil companies(IOCs),this paper puts forward a series of solutions,such as building large-scale production areas at a faster pace,stepping up efforts in acquiring new projects,particularly in countries along the Belt and Road,prudently evaluating and participating in unconventional projects,actively handling marginal assets,and synergizing efforts to tackle critical engineering technological problems.Looking ahead,COCs should follow the philosophy of high-quality development,safeguard national energy security and keep green and low-carbon development to progress in the“going global”activities and overseas oil and gas exploration.

In recent years,cooperative coverage control of multi-agent system(MAS)has attracted plenty of researchers in various fields[1,2].Different from multi-agent consensus or synchronization,multi-agent coverage control cares about how to coordinate a team of agents for effectively monitoring or covering a given terrain,which inevitably gives rise to the interaction between individual dynamics and external environments.Nevertheless,environmental uncertainties that include static uncertainties and dynamic uncertainties and limited sensing capabilities of a single agent make it a great challenge to design control algorithms of MAS for achieving the desired coverage performance.

So far we have plenty of evidence that show how active travel,defined broadly here as walking and cycling,and encompassing multimodality with public transport and the use of a variety of micromobility options,affect positively the environment and public health,reduce car congestion in urban roads,and is the most effective solution towards decarbonisation.However,in many parts of the world and in many cities we still see a gap in the transport policies that prioritize active travel,with most policies still focusing on the car and its supporting infrastructures of more and wider roads,more parking and so on.Even the decarbonisation discourse is riddled with references to the electric,maybe shared,autonomous car as being the sustainable solution for the future.

Richard Feynman’s famous 1959 lecture“There is plenty of room at the bottom”inspired scientists and engineers to focus on manipulating matter at the nanoscale[1].Optical tweezers,groundbreaking tools that use light to trap and move small particles with nanoscale precision,have revolutionized many fields such as materials science,biology,physics,and nanotechnology[2,3].For example,optical tweezers have enabled researchers to investigate the mechanical properties of biological molecules,study the behavior of colloidal suspensions,explore the movement of motor proteins,and investigate the directed assembly of nanoscale structures[4–6].
