Accelerated procedure to solve kinetic equation for neutral atoms in a hot plasma

By reaching the first wall of a fusion reactor, charged plasma.particles, electrons and ionsare recombined into neutral molecules and atoms of hydrogen isotopes. These speciesrecycle back into the plasma.volume and participate, in particular, in charge–exchange(cx) collisions with ions. As a result, hot atoms with chaotically directed velocities aregenerated and some of them hit the wall. Statistical Monte Carlo methods often usedto model the behavior of cx atoms are too time-consuming for comprehensive parameter studies. Recently1 an alternative iteration approach to solve one-dimensional kineticequation2 has been significantly accelerated, by a factor of 30–50, by applying a passmethod to evaluate the arising integrals from functions, involving the ion velocity distribution. Here, this approach is used by solving a two-dimensional kinetic equation,describing the transport of cx atoms in the vicinity of an opening in the wall, e.g.,the entrance of a duct guiding to a diagnostic installation. To assess the erosion rateand lifetime of the installation, one need to know the energy spectrum of hot cx atomsescaping from the plasma.into the duct. Calculations are done for a first mirror of molybdenum under plasma.conditions expected in a fusion reactor like DEMO.3,4 The resultsof kinetic modeling are compared with those found by using a diffusion approximation5relevant for cx atoms if the time between cx collisions with ions is much smaller thanthe time till the ionization of atoms by electrons. The present more exact kinetic consideration predicts a mirror erosion rate by a factor of 2 larger than the approximatediffusion approach.

Dynamics of electron in intense laser field

The induced magnetic field produced by a circular polarization laser pulse propagating in a cold plasma.and the dynamics of injected electron in the combination field of the laser field and the induced magnetic field are investigated.As a circular polarization laser propagates in a plasma.a quasistatic magnetic field in the direction of the wave propagation is rising.An evolution equation for the induced magnetic field is derived.Based on the derived equation,the properties of the induced magnetic field are discussed.The injected electron which satisfies the cyclotron resonance condition can be accelerated by the combination field.The energy equation for the injected electron is obtained.Finally,the classical dynamics of the injected electron in the combination field is analyzed.

Multi-Photon Ionization in Background of plasma

Multi photon ionization (MPI) in plasma.is examined in terms of optical metric, and the quantum Volkov state in curved space time is derived. The cross section of MPI is derived by virtue of the corrected Volkov state within the framework of quantum electrodynamics (QED) formal scattering theory. It shows that the plasma.medium acts as a suppression on MPI.

Decomposition of CFC and Halon waste gases in normal-pressure plasma. reactors

The normal pressure decomposition of CF 2Cl 2 and CF 2ClBr in air by non equilibrium plasma.was studied. The pressure of CF 2Cl 2 and CF 2ClBr was 2.67×10 3Pa, added the dry air to 1.01×10 5 Pa, discharged by corona or DBD, 11.5% of CF 2ClBr was decomposed by corona after 120s discharge, more than 85% of CF 2Cl 2 and 95% of CF 2ClBr were decomposed by DBD after 10s discharge respectively. The main products were CF 2O, Cl 2 and Br 2.

Decomposition of CF_3CI by corona discharge

In this paper pulsed corona discharge is shown to be effective for the decomposition ofCFCl（Freon-13）.The pressure of CFCl was 2.67×10Pa,after discharged for 2 min,39.5% ofCFCl was decomposed.The products were mainly CF,Cland CFCl.The yield increased byadding Oor air.Under the same conditions,more than 94% decomposition yield was obtained if5.32×10Pa Oor air was added.The composition of products became CFO,Cland CF.Whilethe partial pressure of Oor air reached 1 arm,the decomposition yield decreased to 54.5% and 48.5% respectively.

Theoretical model of glow discharge plasma

The physical model for glow discharge plasma.has been modified. The modified model is also analytic and self-consistent. Electron density distribution under the conditions of longer gap separations and different working gas pressures has been analyzed, and comparison between theory and experiment has been made. The modified model has wider applications, and the theoretical results are in better agreement with the experimental.
