Significantly enhanced piezo-photocatalytic capability in BaTiO_(3) nanowires for degrading organic dye

Over the last several years,piezo-photocatalytic effect was intensively investigated for a facile,effective and promising protocol to sewage treatment and environmental *** research on the integration of piezocatalytic and photocatalytic process on lead-free ferroelectric materials is highly demanded to further push this field *** this work,BaTiO_(3) nanowires(BT NWs)were fabricated by a two-step hydrothermal *** degradation of organic dye(methyl orange,MO)aqueous solution(5 mg L^(-1))by integrating photocatalysis with the piezoelectric-like effect under UV light radiation and ultrasonic vibration was *** decomposition ratio reaches up to ~98.17%(at 80 min),which is around 1.28 and 2.24 times of the sole piezocatalysis and photocatalysis process,*** intermediate product of hydroxyl radical(·OH)and superoxide radical(·O_(2)^(-))was detected and quantified by radical trapping experiments,to illustrating their key role in degrading MO *** addition,we carried out sequential cycles to evaluate the cycling stability and usage durability of catalysts and a reduction of ~15% in the efficiency was observed after four *** work provides a promising paradigm for the further development of piezo-photocatalytic materials and target applications in environmental field.

piezo-photocatalysis could coalesce the advantages of mechanical vibration and solar energy perfectly to achieve high-efficiency catalytic ***,the quintessential piezoelectric material CdS nanowires with different aspect ratios are precisely constructed and applied for piezo-photocatalytic reduction of U(Ⅵ)for the first *** ultrasonic(60 kHz,100 W)induces piezoelectric potential to generate a 0.57 eV A^(-1)electric field,which is added to the direction of CdS(010)as a driving force to efficiently separate photogenerated *** alliance between piezoelectric effect and photocatalytic activity endows CdS NW-3 with the fastest piezo-photocatalytic rate under ultrasonic vibration and 5 W LED irradiation,and the relevant rate constant(0.042 min^(-1))is about 12 and 53.8 times than that of LED and *** importantly,93.74%of U(Ⅵ)could be removed from natural uranium mine ***,this piezo-photocatalysis system that reduces U(Ⅵ)to easily separable(UO_(2))O_(2)·2H_(2)O(s)provides valuable input for disposal applications of radioactive wastewater and broadens the horizons of nuclear energy utilization toward the advancement of carbon neutrality.
