phylogenetic analyses of some genera in Oedipodidae （Orthoptera： Acridoidea） based on 16S mitochondrial partial gene sequences

Basedonthe 16S mitochondrial partial gene sequences of 29 genera, containing 26 from Oedipodidae and one each from Tanaoceridae, Pyrgomorphidae and Tetrigidae （as outgroups）, the homologus sequences were compared and phylogenetic analyses were performed. A phylogenetic tree was inferred by neighbor-joining （N J）. The results of sequences compared show that：（i） in a total of 574 bp of Oedipodidae, the number of substituted nucleotides was 265 bp and the average percentages ofT, C, A and G were 38.3%, 11.4%, 31.8% and 18.5%, respectively, and the content of A＋T （70.1%） was distinctly richer than that of C＋G （29.9%）; and （ii） the average nucleotide divergence of 16S rDNA sequences among genera of Oedipodidae were 9.0%, among families of Acridoidea were 17.0%, and between superfamilies （Tetrigoidea and Acridoidea） were 23.9%, respectively. The phylogenetic tree indicated：（i） the Oedipodidae was a monophyletic group, which suggested that the taxonomic status of this family was confirmed; （ii） the genus Heteropternis separated from the other Oedipodids first and had another unique sound-producing structure in morphology, which is the type-genus of subfamily Heteropterninae; and （iii） the relative intergeneric relationship within the same continent was closer than that of different continents, and between the Eurasian genera and the African genera, was closer than that between Eurasians and Americans.

Aristolochia sensu lato is the largest genus of Aristolochiaceae and primarily distributed in tropical and subtropical regions,comprising about 500 *** treatments of the species-level phylogeny of the Aristolochia are controversial,previous studies have found universal markers but insufficient phylogenetic *** this study,we sequenced ten chloroplast genomes and retrieved two published chloroplast genomes of Aristolochia for comparative and phylogenetic *** genomes ranged from 159 308 bp to 160 518 bp in length and had a typical quadripartite structure with a conserved genome arrangement and moderate *** analysis results revealed that all detected species of Aristolochia had a similar GC content.A total of 131 and 132 genes were identified from subgenus Aristolochia and subgenus Siphisia species,*** including 85 protein-coding genes,37 or 38 t RNAs,eight rRNAs,and one pseudogene（ycf1）.phylogenetic trees were constructed by maximum parsimony（MP）,maximum likelihood（ML） and Bayesian analysis（BI） methods using the entire chloroplast genome,LSC,SSC,IR regions and 85 protein-coding genes commonly presented in Aristolochiaceae and *** the phylogeny based on different partitions had the same topology structure,and almost all nodes with 100% bootstrap values were found except two nodes of IR *** also identified ten hotspot regions for genome divergence that could be utilized as potential markers to reconstruct the phylogeny and plant identification within the subgenus *** result illustrated that the chloroplast genomes provide sufficient information sites to phylogeny structure among species within Aristolochia,indicating that chloroplast genome data will be useful to help resolve the deeper branches of phylogeny.

Monophyly or polyphyly? Possible conflict between morphological and molecular interpretations of the wellknown genus Zoothamnium(Ciliophora,Peritrichia)

In this paper, we explore possible conflict between morphological and molecular interpretations of phylogenetic relationships within the well-known peritrichous genus Zoothamnium. On the basis of morphological evidence, for a long time this genus has been believed to be a well-defined monophyletic taxon. Nonetheless, Zoothamnium exhibits higher genetic diversity than the gross morphology of its species. Here, we used all available genetic information for the small subunit of ribosomal RNA （SSU rRNA） and internal transcribed spacer region （ITS1-5.8S-ITS2） for this genus to reconstruct phylogenies for four datasets （SSU rRNA, ITS1, ITS2, and ITS1-5.8S-ITS2） and a combined dataset （SSU rRNA＋ITSI-5.8S- ITS2） using different phylogenetic methods and with consideration of the secondary structure of the genes. Confidence in phylogenetic tree selection was assessed with the approximately unbiased test. The molecular results showed both that Zoothamnium is more likely to be polyphyletic, and morphologically similar genera Zoothamnopsis and Myoschiston were always nested among Zoothamnium species. Accordingly, as with some other groups of ciliates, to understand more fully the correct phylogeny of Zoothamnium there remains a need for additional data from both morphological and molecular studies, covering additional Zoothamnium spp. and members of closely related genera （e.g. Zoothamnopsis, Myoschiston, and Epistylis）.

A taxonomic re-assessment in the Chinese Bupleurum(Apiaceae):Insights from morphology,nuclear ribosomal internal transcribed spacer,and chloroplast(trnH-psbA,matK) sequences

As one of the big genera in Apiaceae,Bupleurum *** received considerable attention from plant ***,there are still many gaps in our knowledge of this genus,especially of those species endemic to China that have often been excluded from previous *** spite of a few recent studies on the phylogeny and classification of the Chinese Bupleurum,the most essential problem of species delimitation still remains *** re-evaluate the taxonomy of the Chinese Bupleurum using morphological and molecular *** observations of living plants growing the field and herbarium specimens were made to understand the morphological variation and to ensure species identification for the molecular *** analyses were carried out on sequence data of nuclear ribosomal internal transcribed spacer(nrITS),trnH-psbA,and matK,using parsimony and Bayesian approaches to evaluate species *** of both nrITS and combined datasets of the three regions revealed the following results:(i)the Chinese Bupleurum species were divided into two major lineages;and(ii)most species were well defined,but some traditional inter-and infraspecific relationships were not *** results,along with the results of previous works support that the Chinese Bupleurum species were derived from two different lineages and should be placed in Neves and Watson’s subgenus *** detailed taxonomic re-assessment of several Chinese species resulted in new taxonomic recombinations with rank changes for three species:Bupleurum tenerum,***,and ***;new combination for one variety,*** ***;and the description of one variety and one species,*** *** and ***.

A new species of Psychropotidae holothuroid,Benthodytes palauta ***.,was collected from the Kyushu-Palau Ridge at a depth of 2666 *** new species is characterized by a leathery body wall,red-violet skin,five pairs of dorsal papillae,nineteen pairs of tube feet,and a narrow *** internal organs include one Polian vesicle,two tufts of gonads,and no respiratory *** ossicles are large and spinous,with crosses of four arms with central bipartite *** ossicles are crosses with four arms with bipartite *** dorsal ossicles were few and large,and cross-shaped with four arms and central bipartite *** ossicles were large and rod-shaped or slender *** ossicles were primary crosses of four arms and brim ossicles were cross-shaped with *** phylogenetic analyses of this species support that *** *** to ***,the paraphyletic relationships were confirmed;however,a revision of the genus Benthodytes is needed to resolve its phylogenetic relationship.

Odorant-binding proteins(OBPs)are crucial in insect's olfactory perception,which participate in the initial step of odorant molecules transporting from the external environment to olfactory receptor *** better understand the roles for OBPs in olfactory perception in Cotesia vestalis,a solitary larval endoparasitoid of diamondback moth,Plutella xylostella,we have comprehensively screened the genome of ***,and obtained 20 CvesOBPs,including 18 classic OBPs and two minus-C ***-pattern analysis indicates that the motifs of *** OBPs are highly conserved in *** results of tissue expression analysis show that five OBPs(CvesOBP1/11/12/14/16)are highly expressed in male antennae,whereas six other OBP genes(CvesOBP7/8/13/17/18/19)are significantly transcriptionally enriched in female *** results of RNA interference experiments for three most highly expressed OBP genes(CvesOBP17/18/19)in female antennae demonstrate that they are likely involved in parasitic processes of female wasps,as the wasps take a longer time to target the hosts when they are knoc ked down.

phylogenetic and epidemiological characteristics of H9N2 avian influenza viruses in Shandong Province, China from 2019 to 2021

H9N2 avian influenza virus(AIV) has widely circulated in poultry worldwide and sporadic infections in humans and mammals. During our surveillance of chicken from 2019 to 2021 in Shandong Province, China, we isolated 11 H9N2AIVs. phylogenetic analyses showed that the eight gene segments of the 11 isolates were closely related to several sublineages of Eurasian lineage: BJ/94-like clades(HA and NA genes), G1-like clades(PB2 and M genes), and SH/F/98-like clades(PB1, PA, NP and NS genes). The isolates showed mutation sites that preferentially bind to humanlike receptors(HA) and mammalian fitness sites(PB2, PB1 and PA), as well as mutations in antigen and drug resistance sites. Moreover, studies with mice revealed four isolates with varying levels of pathogenicity. The average antibody titer of the H9N2 AIVs was 8.60 log2. Based on our results, the epidemiological surveillance of H9N2 AIVs should be strengthened.

＜正＞Bryopsis hypnoides Lamouroux is a siphonous green alga,and its extruded protoplasm can aggregate spontaneously in seawater and develop into mature *** chloroplast of *** is the biggest organelle in the cell and shows strong *** better understand this organelle,we sequenced and analyzed the chloroplast genome of this green alga.A total of 111 functional genes, including 69 potential protein-coding genes,5 ribosomal RNA genes,and 37 tRNA genes were *** genome size（153,429 bp）,arrangement,and inverted-repeat（IR）-lacking structure of the *** chloroplast DNA（cpDNA） closely resembles that of Chlorella ***,our cytogenomic investigations using pulsed-field gel electrophoresis（PFGE） and southern blotting methods showed that the *** cpDNA had multimeric forms,including monomer,dimer,trimer,tetramer,and even higher multimers,which is similar to the higher order organization observed previously for higher plant *** relative amounts of the four multimeric cpDNA forms were estimated to be about 1,1/2,1/4, and 1/8 based on molecular hybridization *** analyses based on a concatenated alignment of chloroplast protein sequences suggested that *** is located in a lineage with Oltmannsiellopsis viridis and Pseudendoclonium akinetum within the *** of the results suggest that the autonomy of the chloroplasts of *** has little to do with the size and gene content of the cpDNA,and the IR-lacking structure of the chloroplasts indirectly demonstrated that the multimeric molecules might result from the random cleavage and fusion of replication intermediates instead of recombinational events.
