Ultrafast Decay Dynamics of N-Ethylpyrrole Excited to the S_(1)Electronic State:A Femtosecond Time-Resolved photoelectron Imaging Study

N-ethylpyrrole is one of ethylsubstituted derivatives of pyrrole and its excited-state decay dynamics has never been explored.In this work,we investigate ultrafast decay dynamics of N-ethylpyrrole excited to the S_(1)electronic state using a femtosecond time-resolved photoelectron imaging method.Two pump wavelengths of 241.9 and 237.7 nm are employed.At 241.9 nm,three time constants,5.0±0.7 ps,66.4±15.6 ps and 1.3±0.1 ns,are derived.For 237.7 nm,two time constants of 2.1±0.1 ps and 13.1±1.2 ps are derived.We assign all these time constants to be associated with different vibrational states in the S_(1)state.The possible decay mechanisms of different S_(1)vibrational states are briefly discussed.

Use of photoelectron laser phase determination method for attosecond measurements with quantum-mechanical calculations

This paper calculates quantum-mechanically the photoelectron energy spectra excited by attosecond x-rays in the presence of a few-cycle laser. A photoelectron laser phase determination method is used for precise measurements of the pulse natural properties of x-ray intensity and the instantaneous frequency profiles. As a direct procedure without any previous pulse profile assumptions and time-resolved measurements as well as data fitting analysis, this method can be used to improve the time resolutions of attosecond timing and measurements with metrological precision. The measurement range is half of a laser optical cycle.

Imprint of transient electron localization in H2+ using circularly-polarized laser pulse

photoelectron momentum distribution of hydrogen molecular ion in a circularly polarized laser pulse is calculated by solving the three-dimensional time-dependent Schrodinger equation(3D-TDSE).At the intermediate internuclear distance,an unusual multi-peak structure is observed in the angular distribution,which is proved to be a signature of the transient localization of the electron upon alternating nucleus.By tracing the time-dependent ionization rate and bound state populations,we provide a clear evidence that the transient electron localization still exists in circularly polarized pulse and the corresponding multiple ionization bursts are directly mapped onto observable angular distributions.In addition,we introduce an intuitive strong-field approximation model which incorporates laser-induced subcycle internal electron dynamics to isolate the effect of the Coulomb potential of the parent ions.In this way,the timing of each ionization burst can be directly read out from the angular distributions.Our results suggest that the ionization time serves as a sensitive tool encoding intramolecular electron dynamics and can be measured using attoclock technique.

Laser-phase determination methods and transfer equations for direct temporal structure measurements of atto- and femtosecond XUV pulses

In this paper the laser-phase determination methods and transfer equations are presented to directly reconstruct the detailed temporal structures of ultra-short extreme ultraviolet （xuv） pulses from the measured photoelectron energy spectra （PES）. Each transfer equation includes one of PID （proportional-integral-differential） terms of PES. The intensity and instantaneous frequency of attosecond xuv can be retrieved from the integral term of PES. The intensity profiles of narrow bandwidth atto- and femtosecond xuvs can be rebuilt from the proportional and differential terms of PES respectively. The methods and equations may be used to improve time resolutions in measuring ultrashort pulses.
